Book Synopsis New Vistas in Agroforestry by : P. K. Ramachandran Nair
Download or read book New Vistas in Agroforestry written by P. K. Ramachandran Nair and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was in late 2002 that the idea of preparing a collection of multi-authored chapters on different aspects of ag- st forestry as a compendium for the 1 World Congress of Agroforestry, June 2004, was tossed around. With the approval of the idea by the Congress Organizing Committee, serious efforts to make it a reality got under way in early 2003. The rigorously peer-reviewed and edited manuscripts were submitted to the publisher in December 2003. Considering the many differentindividualsinvolved in the task as authors and manuscriptreviewers, we feel quite pleased that the task could be accomplished within this timeframe. We are pleased also about the contents on several counts. First of all, the tropical-temperate mix of topics is a rare feature of a publication of this nature. In spite of the scienti?c commonalities between tropical and temperate practices of agroforestry, the differences between them are so enormous that it is often impossible to mesh them together in one publication. Secondly, several of the chapters are on topics that have not been discussed or described much in agroforestryliterature. A third feature is that some of the authors, though well known in their own disciplinary areas, are somewhat new to agroforestry; the perceptions and outlooks of these scholars who are relatively unin?uenced by the past happenings in agroforestry gives a whole new dimension to agroforestry and broadensthescopeofthesubject. Finally, ratherthanjustreviewingandsummarizingpastwork, mostchapterstake the extra effort in attempting to outline the next steps.

Book Synopsis I Know I'm in There Somewhere by : Helene Brenner
Download or read book I Know I'm in There Somewhere written by Helene Brenner and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2004-05-03 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on her work with over a thousand women across the country, psychologist Helene G. Brenner has learned that women feel the impulse to accommodate, adapt and mold themselves to serve others at their own expense. Her solution is an invigorating new approach to women's psychology. The key to transformation, she explains, is not self-improvement, but self-acceptance—affirming and validating what we truly feel and experience and who we already are. Dr. Brenner shows women how to discover and express what they truly want and value, guiding you toward your own Inner Voice. I Know I’m In There Somewhere will show you: - How to embrace, rather than fix, the Inner Voice that has been there all along - How to distinguish the Outer Voices (the expectations of the people around you) from Your Inner Voice (the voice of your true self that goes beyond intuition and guides you wisely towards what is right for you) - What to do when you feel that the essence of who you are is being stifled by external demands and expectations

Book Synopsis Inspirational Stories from the Pulpit by : Rev. Wesley Moss
Download or read book Inspirational Stories from the Pulpit written by Rev. Wesley Moss and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection of inspirational stories, food for thought, famous quotes, and humor is the result of more than ten years as senior pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, and more than thirty-eight years of preaching and teaching. It is my hope that clergy and professional speakers as well as ordinary individuals will become better communicators in any setting using this easy to read and absorb material. It is also my hope that this collection will mentally stimulate the reader to do or feel something, especially to do something creative and spontaneous. Quoting from Mother Theresa: "The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or Leprosy, it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared-for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty . . . it is not only the poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There's a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God." (Mother Theresa, A Simple Path: Mother Theresa) In most of the inspirational stories, you will be able to experience God's love for humankind and His love for you, and at the same time demonstrate your love for God through your love for neighbor as suggested by Mother Teresa's quote. Even though I'm very acquainted with the section on humor, I find myself laughing out loud each time I revisit this section. If you are an introvert (quiet or your attention is mainly on yourself), this humor will make you an extrovert (active and expressive) and the life of any gathering, because almost everyone loves humor. Make this book a treasured addition to your library and one you will gladly recommend to others. It is my fervent prayer that through this effort I am leaving the wood pile a little higher than I found it. Jesus loves you and so do I! Reverend Wesley Louis Moss, at eighty-one years young, is Associate Minister of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. Reverend Ken Jelks is senior pastor.
