Carson, the seedy underworld linked to the illegal animal trade is exposed in brilliant and disturbing detail… a polished and powerful international thriller.” −SP Review The trade in illegal elephant ivory and rhino horn is the tip of an iceberg made of money used to finance terrorism, torture and murder. The political and social failures among some of the wealthiest and most politically powerful people in America, result in a corrupt, morally depraved view of the world and how it should run. CIA agent Michael Bishop is one of a cast of sharply etched characters in a story that takes readers from the African poaching grounds deep in the interior of Cameroon, through the rough, narrow and dangerous old streets of Marseille, to the seething, densely packed streets of New York City. Bishop is the one man who is prepared to follow the money trail at all costs to bring the worst kinds of criminals and terrorist networks to account. The trail is dangerous, the traps along the way are devious, and Bishop confronts some of the worst villains ever created for the modern thriller. The end game is about life and death, and a behind-the-scenes battle for freedom that most people never see. “An exhilarating, globe-trekking espionage tale that delivers robust characters.” −Kirkus Reviews “A whirlwind spy story that keeps the action going… told with humor and vigor.” −Madeline Dennis-Yates for IndieReader Keywords: All The Big Ones Are Dead, Illegal elephant ivory and rhino horn, CIA Interpol thriller, Terrorist financing and smuggling, Big game poaching, Morality vs greed and power, CIA officer Michael Bishop

After too many years of unfulfilling work, Bronnie Ware began searching for a job with heart. Despite having no formal qualifications or previous experience in the field, she found herself working in palliative care. During the time she spent tending to those who were dying, Bronnie's life was transformed. Later, she wrote an Internet blog post, outlining the most common regrets that the people she had cared for had expressed. The post gained so much momentum that it was viewed by more than three million readers worldwide in its first year. At the request of many, Bronnie subsequently wrote a book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, to share her story. Bronnie has had a colourful and diverse life. By applying the lessons of those nearing their death to her own life, she developed an understanding that it is possible for everyone, if we make the right choices, to die with peace of mind. In this revised edition of the best-selling memoir that has been read by over a million people worldwide, with translations in 29 languages, Bronnie expresses how significant these regrets are and how we can positively address these issues while we still have the time. The Top Five Regrets of the Dying gives hope for a better world. It is a courageous, life-changing book that will leave you feeling more compassionate and inspired to live the life you are truly here to live.

Book excerpt: Fast moving and full of dramatic set pieces, Dead Pretty is a murderous journey with a twist in its tail. Mark Richards, having rebuilt his life after a traumatic, deprived past, is a private investigator in London. When his beautiful girlfriend, Lena, is brutally and sadistically slain his life is turned upside down. In his search for her killers, he becomes hunter and hunted, exacting revenge whilst trying to stay alive. His quest turns into a bloody rites of passage, which takes him from London to the Midlands, to the hills of south Wales, and, ultimately, to Amsterdam, where the savage climax of the book is played out amidst the seedy back alleys of the red light district. Mark Richards finds out more than he ever wanted to know, old demons rear up again in his mind, and he has to reach deep into his soul to survive. PRAISE FOR Dead Pretty: 'This is a thriller which will lead you by the nose through some fine writing. Granelli sets the scenes in London, South Wales and Amsterdam with keen observation and gives us characters that may sometimes be extreme but are always believable. The pace is electric and keeps you hooked. It would make a good film as well as a good read' Western Mail 'His characters breathe, make you care. One day the people who count will realise that Roger Granelli is one of the best street-level thriller writers around' Phil Rickman, Author 'Granelli should appeal to readers of grisly realistic thrillers and is the best such author to revel in his Welsh roots' Waterstones bookseller

Book excerpt: Thriving within a narrow niche in rock music is the recording on which one artist composes, plays, sings and often produces each track. As a showcase of individual effort and talent, the single-artist rock album has been adopted by artists such as Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, and Prince to produce unique additions to their discographies. To this type of album, Steve Hamelman has affixed the label AlphaSoloism. In All by Myself: Essays on the Single-Artist Rock Album, eleven scholars explore eleven different albums, both well-known and obscure, released between 1970 and 2011. Their essays illuminate aesthetic, technical, and theoretical elements that distinguish AlphaSolo recordings from conventional ones.In addition to providing historical background on studio, live, original, and cover recordings released between the 1970 to the present, the essays explore questions of intention, craft, performance, and reception. All by Myself marks the AlphaSolo subgenre’s moment of origin as a musical category and academic field. To date, no study exists on this unique genre of music-making, and All by Myself serves as a call for future investigations into this present and growing phenomenon in rock culture.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are at the crossroads of world health. On the one hand we face the possibility of a world wide pandemic, the likes of which has never been seen before. We are, likewise on the threshold of discovering natural cures for nearly every disease. As choosing wisely may mean the difference between life and death, this book is designed to help the reader choose alternative options that are seldom if ever in the news. Jared Diamond, in his groundbreaking work, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, addresses the fact that only civilizations that recognize the threats against their existence, and deal with the threat effectively survive. Civilizations with their heads in the sand become extinct or are conquered by more vigorous nations. The robber barons of the last century were able to create a monopoly for oil and the automobile by ruthlessly and systematically destroying all competition. They tore up cable car lines and public transportation so the public would have no other alternative except their oil. Today, the drug monopolies, owned by the descendants of these same robber barons, are nearly complete in their plot to eradicate all natural, low cost remedies for disease prevention and treatment. In the state of Florida, naturopathic physicians were de-licensed unless they also had a conventional medical license. The powers that be want to create a drug induced society, at an enormous financial and emotional cost to the public at large. They are even trying to outlaw vitamins via European health treaties and side step the American constitution and the public. The ever escalating cost of medical care created by lack of natural alternative options can only lead to the eventual total collapse of the entire medical system. It is exceedingly difficult finding the truth about alternative medicine as the system has a vested interest in making profits and keeping the truth from you. A few thousand deaths is an acceptable loss if a few billion dollars can be made. And it will be a cold day in hell before a drug company puts itself out of business by telling you about a low cost natural cure that their product can manage. The guardians of public health know which side their toast is buttered on also. The career politicians and beltway bandits at the FDA know where the money is and they dont get it from you or providers of natural cures. The drug monopolies pay the big bucks. There have been no checks and balances. Corruption has become so pronounced that the US House of Representatives is seeking to pass the Consumers Access to Health Information Act (H.R. 2352) to ensure that accurate health claims ARE NOT SUPPRESSED. Consumers would be given TRUTHFUL AND COMPLETE information about the curative, mitigation, treatment, and prevention effects of foods and dietary supplements on disease or health-related conditions. The time to exercise your God given right to the health care of your choice is now. (www.lef.org) America has the finest emergency health care in the world. Bar none. However that is not the nature of the coming threat. American baby boomers will soon be retiring in the tens of millions. Their health care needs will be staggering and costly. However 92% of American health care providers are trained in emergency medicine and only 8% in long term preventative medicine. As it takes a minimum of 6-7 years to obtain a medical degree, America is unprepared for a crisis that is inevitable.

Book excerpt: Vampires. Zombies. Wendigo. There’s a million books about them, and of similar paranormal, undead creatures. Sparkly cutesy ones. Vicious evil ones. Heroic ones. Impossible to kill ones. Slow and fast ones. Some books even purport to tell you of their origins. Well, they’re all bunk and bother, as Ob would say. Nothing but humbug. This special omnibus edition of Volumes 7 and 8 of the Harbinger of Doom saga is different. It reveals the truth about those creatures. About where they really came from. About the terrible threat they posed and may still pose today. And about the brave folk of days long past who stopped them from overrunning the world.

Book excerpt: Twelve-year-old Eddie has always lived for fishing trips with his grandfather, idyllic day-long floats on the sweet waters of their home river. But now Gramps, the charismatic owner of a local sporting goods store, has himself been hooked by dementia: he's obsessed with catching the biggest fish in the river, and he's scaring everyone in Eddie's life half to death. This earthquake spawns numerous aftershocks, some comic: the unfortunate incident of the deceased carp; how it comes about that Eddie's dad throws up at his mom's wedding. And some dark: the climactic 60-mile river journey--one voyager perhaps mad, the other perhaps kidnapped--launches deep in the night, carrying Eddie and his grandfather inexorably to a final, fateful encounter with the Big One.

H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American author who achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. He is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre. Some of Lovecraft's work was inspired by his own nightmares. His interest started from his childhood days when his grandfather would tell him Gothic horror stories. Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an American writer. He is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914) was an American journalist and writer. He employed a distinctive style of writing, especially in his stories. His style often embraces an abrupt beginning, dark imagery, vague references to time, limited descriptions, impossible events, and the theme of war. Arthur Machen (1863-1947) was a Welsh author and mystic. He is best known for his influential supernatural, fantasy, and horror fiction
