Book Synopsis Grandpa's Adventures by : Veda Taylor Strong
Download or read book Grandpa's Adventures written by Veda Taylor Strong and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2005-04-04 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This novel is based on fact. Though it is based on fact, this novel uses fictional events, places and characters. Parts of the novel are humorous, while other parts are exciting and interesting. I am attempting to follow the lives of my father’s parents, John and Elizabeth Taylor, from the time of the Civil War, their marriage, their lives and adventures in different states, their travels across the country by wagon train and their lives in Tacoma, Washington. My dear aunt told me stories many years ago. Some I remember and some I remember only parts of. She was a very young girl at the time and experienced many of these things. I learned many things by asking questions. When relatives and people learned that I was interested in writing a book of this nature, they came forward with letters and stories of their own that I was able to use. Grandpa John was a tailor and made his living this way. Later in years he became fascinated with the railroads and became an engineer. I found this book to be fascinating to write and wishing that I could have been there and lived in such times before the machine revolution changed the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After facing the realization I was going to become a grandfather to a great little boy, it seemed important to tell him something about his family history that occurred before he was born. With as busy as he is now in college, it may be awhile before he slows down long enough to inquire.I simply started at the beginning with the first memory I ever had, and chronicled many of the meaningful things in my life as I remembered them. I documented grade school, high school, and college experiences. I then moved on to my time in the military and in the working world, all the while starting a family with a special woman, Trudy, my wife of nearly forty-seven years. The highlights in my life get a treatment, including my travels and the events that affected me deeply enough to shape my thinking, because I also share my many opinions. Here then is Grandpa’s Backstory: Because Somebody Might Need to Know!

Book Synopsis Grandpa's Us Colonial History to 1800 by : Terrence Hagen
Download or read book Grandpa's Us Colonial History to 1800 written by Terrence Hagen and published by Abbott Press. This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 701 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did the American people suddenly become "independent" on July 4, 1776, or is there something more to our shared history? History books tend to simplify the events leading up to the Declaration of Independence, but not Grandpa! Terrence Hagen wants his grandchildren--and everyone else--to know exactly what happened from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 to the time the Founding Fathers broke free from England. The reality is the real America was developed in that period between the founding of the first settlements to the Declaration of Independence. In this history book, you'll learn why America could be called an accident; self-government was not discovered by America; colonial America was the result of concurrent conflict among many entities; and subsequent immigration of non-English settlers changed the nature of the American colonist and produced ethnic, religious, and cultural conflicts. Laced with chapter summaries, quizzes, and stories of sacrifice, Grandpa's US Colonial History to 1800 tells the forgotten history of how the American Revolution was fought not to attain independence but to retain the level of independence early settlers enjoyed.
