Download or read book How to Stitch an American Dream written by Jenny Doan and published by Harper Horizon. This book was released on 2021-10-19 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith, family, hard work, and second chances are at the core of every great American story, and Jenny Doan’s story is just that. In her new memoir, How to Stitch an American Dream, readers will discover the behind-the-scenes success story of the Missouri Star Quilt Company and Jenny’s remarkable journey to overcome hardship, claim the abundance of family, and ignite the power of giving—all while revitalizing a small town along the way. Over the last decade, the Doan family business, the Missouri Star Quilt Company in tiny Hamilton, Missouri, has grown from Jenny’s corner shop--with one quilting machine and two bolts of fabric for sale in the back--to become the largest supplier of pre-cut quilting fabric in the headquarters of Jenny’s world-famous YouTube tutorial videos. Jenny is now giving her fans, the business world, and moms of all ages (and grandmas too!) what they’ve been asking for: the full story of her journey, from her humble beginnings as a homeschooling mom, to founding MSQC in her fifties, through the remarkable success and inspiration she’s so well-known for today. In this book, you’ll learn: How she and her beloved husband, Ron, raised seven children on a shoestring budget— and had fun doing it; How, after a string of bad luck, the family made a prayer-based decision to leave California behind and start over again in rural Missouri, even though they had no place to live, no jobs lined up, and no idea how they were going to make it; How Jenny, Ron and their children worked side-by-side to patch together a family home out of a crumbling shell of a farmhouse; And how their faith, hard work, and generosity not only carried them through the hard times, but led directly to the success of the Missouri Star Quilt Company. How to Stitch an American Dream will make you laugh, cry, say “bless your heart.”

Book excerpt: In this first installment of the Orphan Saga trilogy, a spunky young monkey named Mysti escapes from a devious gang of rats and finds a new home among the rabbits of the idyllic Reanlands. Not knowing where she came from or where she belongs, she struggles for a time to adapt to a new way of life and integrate into the rabbits’ society—a challenge that is intensified by the Reanlanders’ distrust of strangers, and of monkeys in particular. With the support of new friends, Mysti perseveres to overcome these obstacles, and is finally embraced by the rabbits when her ingenuity saves them from a near-certain death. When Mysti speaks to the wise keeper of all rabbit lore, she discovers that the moonstone she has always worn around her neck is, in fact, a long-lost treasure very precious to the Reanlanders. She begins to realize that perhaps it was no accident that she wound up there—it may have been destiny calling her. But how long can Mysti evade recapture by the rats, who are certainly trying to track her down? And will her grit and determination be enough to save the Reanlanders again, when war and upheaval threaten to disrupt their peaceful lives?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent advances in a variety of scientific disciplines have revealed the limitations of the Newtonian-Cartesian model of the universe. One of the interesting aspects of this development is the increasing convergence of science and the "perennial philosophy." The new research has led to a critical revaluation of ancient spiritual systems long ignored or rejected because of their assumed incompatibility with science. Here are Swami Muktananda on the mind. Swami Prajnananda on Karma. Swami Kripananda on the Kundalini. Ajit Mookerjee on the Kundalini. Joseph Chilton Pearce on spiritual development. Mother Teresa on love and service. Jack Kornfield on Buddhism for Americans. Fritjof Capra on the new paradigms. Rupert Sheldrake on morphic resonance. Karl Pribram on the holographic model. Claudio Naranjo on meditation, and more. The papers in this book were presented at the seventh Conference of the International Transpersonal Association held in Bombay. The ITA is a non-profit organization that brings together individuals of different nationalities, professions, and philosophical or spiritual preferences who share in the view that there is a fundamental unity underlying all of humanity and the material world. Book Synopsis Consciousness Studies by : K. Ramakrishna Rao
Download or read book Consciousness Studies written by K. Ramakrishna Rao and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-09-17 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consciousness is perplexing: too familiar and intimate to ignore, too complex and elusive to understand. Although consciousness is embedded in all our experience and is considered basic to all our knowing, no one seems to know what exactly it is, and the concept is both widely used and much abused. For the better part of the twentieth century, the study of consciousness was viewed as unworthy of scholarly and scientific pursuit. Research has consequently suffered. This cross-cultural examination first explores the varieties of conscious experience and reflects on the attempts to understand and explain consciousness in the Western scholarly and scientific tradition. The next section deals with Eastern spiritual traditions and how they differ with and complement the Western viewpoints. In the final chapters the author reconciles the two traditions for a comprehensive understanding of what consciousness is, and considers how such an understanding may be helpful for a cross-cultural assessment of behavior, as well as for enhancing human abilities and wellness.
