Download or read book Making Livonia written by Anu Mänd and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-06-09 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The region called Livonia (corresponding to modern Estonia and Latvia) emerged out of the rapid transformation caused by the conquest, Christianisation and colonisation on the north-east shore of the Baltic Sea in the late twelfth and the early thirteenth centuries. These radical changes have received increasing scholarly notice over the last few decades. However, less attention has been devoted to the interplay between the new and the old structures and actors in a longer perspective. This volume aims to study these interplays and explores the history of Livonia by concentrating on various actors and networks from the late twelfth to the seventeenth century. But, on a deeper level, the goal is more ambitious: to investigate the foundation of an increasingly complex and heterogeneous society on the medieval and early modern Baltic frontier – ‘the making of Livonia’.

Book excerpt: Damaged is the new magazine from Abteilung 502, and also the newest member of AK’s big family. This new Publication wants to show modellers how to weather any type of subject, under any circumstance with various effects. Fernando Vallejo, AK’s president, takes matters into his own hands and selects all the best modellers to show their best models, creations and special curiosities. Inside this magazine you can find various subjects like a truck, a ship to a tank, spaceship ship, trains….etc. Damaged is the manual for weathered and worn models. In this first issue you can see from the amazing snowspeeder fro Villegas, an incredible forklift by Rubén González and an awesome mad max car by Andrés Montiel… and many, many other surprises.
Book Synopsis Classical Groups and Related Topics by : Alexander Hahn
Download or read book Classical Groups and Related Topics written by Alexander Hahn and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1989 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During his lifetime, L. K. Hua played a leading role in and exerted a great influence upon the development in China of modern mathematics, both pure and applied. His mathematical career began in 1931 at Tsinghua University where he continued as a professor for many years. Hua made many significant contributions to number theory, algebra, geometry, complex analysis, numerical analysis, and operations research. In particular, he initiated the study of classical groups in China and developed new matrix methods which, as applied by him as well as his followers, were instrumental in the successful attack of many problems. To honor his memory, a joint China-U.S. conference on Classical Groups and Related Topics was held at Tsinghua University in Beijing in May 1987. This volume represents the proceedings of that conference and contains both survey articles and research papers focusing on classical groups and closely related topics.
Book Synopsis Algebraic Topology by : Mark E. Mahowald
Download or read book Algebraic Topology written by Mark E. Mahowald and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1989 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will provide readers with an overview of some of the major developments in current research in algebraic topology. Representing some of the leading researchers in the field, the book contains the proceedings of the International Conference on Algebraic Topology, held at Northwestern University in March, 1988. Several of the lectures at the conference were expository and will therefore appeal to topologists in a broad range of areas. The primary emphasis of the book is on homotopy theory and its applications. The topics covered include elliptic cohomology, stable and unstable homotopy theory, classifying spaces, and equivariant homotopy and cohomology. Geometric topics--such as knot theory, divisors and configurations on surfaces, foliations, and Siegel spaces--are also discussed. Researchers wishing to follow current trends in algebraic topology will find this book a valuable resource.

Book Synopsis Index for $C^\ast $-Subalgebras by : Yasuo Watatani
Download or read book Index for $C^\ast $-Subalgebras written by Yasuo Watatani and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1990 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper we study the index, denoted by Index [italic]E, for conditional expectations [italic]E on [italic]C*-algebras, which is a generalization of the index for subfactors by Jones and Kosaki. The notion of the index is related with coring structure, separable extension, generalized Casimir elements, G-Galois basis, covering spaces, modular automorphisms and Nakayama automorphisms on Frobenius algebras.

Book Synopsis Group Actions and Invariant Theory by : Andrzej Białynicki-Birula
Download or read book Group Actions and Invariant Theory written by Andrzej Białynicki-Birula and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1989 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of a conference, sponsored by the Canadian Mathematical Society, on Group Actions and Invariant Theory, held in August, 1988 in Montreal. The conference was the third in a series bringing together researchers from North America and Europe (particularly Poland). The papers collected here will provide an overview of the state of the art of research in this area. The conference was primarily concerned with the geometric side of invariant theory, including explorations of the linearization problem for reductive group actions on affine spaces (with a counterexample given recently by J. Schwarz), spherical and complete symmetric varieties, reductive quotients, automorphisms of affine varieties, and homogeneous vector bundles.
