Book Synopsis Guidance for Quantifying the Contribution of Airport Emissions to Local Air Quality by : Brian Y. Kim
Download or read book Guidance for Quantifying the Contribution of Airport Emissions to Local Air Quality written by Brian Y. Kim and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2012 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is a guide for airport operators on effective procedures for using air quality models in combination with on-site measurement equipment to prepare a comprehensive assessment of air pollutant concentrations in the vicinity of airports. It is designed to help practitioners generate information desired by local communities as they seek to develop more detailed local air quality assessments as well as respond to regulatory needs, including those of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The guide provides in-depth information on the capabilities and limitations of modeling and measurement tools, adding to an increasing knowledge base concerning preparation of air quality assessments near airports. Starting with the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) regulatory EDMS/AEDT, it describes how best to use available models, in combination with potential on-site monitoring programs, to conduct air quality assessments. Detailed information on the monitoring campaigns and modeling assessments is included in a set of appendices that accompany the guide. The appendices (available in CRP-CD-115) describe the models tested and the various equipment used to collect data, the rationale behind the selection of Washington Dulles International Airport as a case study application, and the components and steps involved in the measurement campaigns, and include an assessment of the various model outputs--

Book Synopsis Airport Vicinity Air Pollution Model by : I. T. Wang
Download or read book Airport Vicinity Air Pollution Model written by I. T. Wang and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes in detail the computer code of the Airport Vicinity Air Pollution (AVAP) model and the variables required to exercise the model. The AVAP model is a computerizing comprehensive airport simulation model which can serve as a tool in evaluating the total air quality impact of all airport operations on the airport vicinity. The report focusses on the operational procedures and descriptions of the structure and function of the computer code. The structure, chain of command that links the subroutines, and the more important computational subroutines are illustrated in detailed flow diagrams. The basic formulas used in the calculations are presented. One section provides guidelines for preparation of the input data and can serve as a 'mini' instruction manual by itself. Procedures are described by which the airport and environ data can be collected and cast into the proper forms. The data deck formating, variable limits and omissions permitted, and the computer configuration required to run the code are discussed. Samples of input and output are included.

Book Synopsis Airport Pollution. A case study of 3 Airports by : Mr Akeju
Download or read book Airport Pollution. A case study of 3 Airports written by Mr Akeju and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2024-03-21 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2020 in the subject Environmental Sciences, , language: English, abstract: We analyzed these variations related to communities in the vicinity of the airports. Also, we examined the impact of these pollutants on the morbidity and mortality rate of the COVID-19 virus. Our study shows that: air pollution reduced in communities around the airport during the lockdown and low operations; areas downwind and in the vicinity of the airport recorded high incidence and mortality during the pandemic. These changes in pollution, incidence, and mortality are represented in charts available in the research study. Air pollution is a critical issue in urban cities. While air pollution has been reduced in some cities, its effect on human health is considerable. In this study, data for air pollutants, mainly oxides of Nitrogen and Particulate matter, was observed for variations before and during the pandemic lockdown from three airports in two countries.

Book Synopsis The politics of airport expansion in the United Kingdom by : Steven Griggs
Download or read book The politics of airport expansion in the United Kingdom written by Steven Griggs and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2016-05-16 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The massive expansion of global aviation, its insatiable demand for airport capacity and its growing contribution to carbon emissions make it a critical societal problem. Alongside traditional concerns about noise and air pollution, airport politics has been connected to the problems of climate change and peak oil. Yet it is still thought to be a driver of economic growth and connectivity in an increasingly mobile world. The politics of airport expansion in the United Kingdom provides the first in-depth analysis of the protest campaigns and policymaking practices that have marked British aviation since the construction of Heathrow Airport. Grounded in documentary analysis, interviews and policy texts, it constructs and employs poststructuralist policy analysis to chart rival groups and movements seeking to shape public policy. This book will appeal to people interested in the history of aviation and airports in Britain, local campaigns and environmental protests, and the politics of climate change.
