Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, one of the most evident and dangerous contaminants aspects for the health of all living beings is air pollution. To understand the severity of this environmental problem, in this book the authors make an in-depth review of different environmental aspects on monitoring, quantification and elimination of emissions to the atmosphere, generated by diverse anthropogenic activities in large cities. Contributors of this book have made an effort to put their ideas in simple terms without forgoing quality. The principal objective of this book is to present the most recent technical literature to all interested readers in this field.

Book excerpt: Emission inventory (EI) is a comprehensive listing of pollutants from all sources in a geo-graphical area during a period of time. The development of EI database is very important to air quality management and helps us to find out main sources. In general, to develop a reliable EI for one specific area, the following steps are involved: (i) list the types of sources, (ii) determine the types of air pollutant emission from each of the listed sources, (iii) find out the emission factor (EF) for each of the concerned pollutants, (iv) determine the number and size of specific sources in the area, and (v) multiply the appropriate numbers from step (iii) and (iv) to obtain the total emissions and then sum up the similar emissions to obtain the total for the area. With emission inventory, we can define the main sources in the study area and have the best solution for clean air action. Besides, the result from EIs can be used to study in other sectors related to human health, economic loss from air pollution, etc. This chapter will describe the method for development of an air emission inventory for developing and developed countries.

Download or read book Advanced Air Pollution written by Farhad Nejadkoorki and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-08-17 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leading air quality professionals describe different aspects of air pollution. The book presents information on four broad areas of interest in the air pollution field; the air pollution monitoring; air quality modeling; the GIS techniques to manage air quality; the new approaches to manage air quality. This book fulfills the need on the latest concepts of air pollution science and provides comprehensive information on all relevant components relating to air pollution issues in urban areas and industries. The book is suitable for a variety of scientists who wish to follow application of the theory in practice in air pollution. Known for its broad case studies, the book emphasizes an insightful of the connection between sources and control of air pollution, rather than being a simple manual on the subject.

Book Synopsis Air Emissions Inventory Guidance Document for Mobile Sources at Air Force Installations by :
Download or read book Air Emissions Inventory Guidance Document for Mobile Sources at Air Force Installations written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report serves as a guidance document for the preparation of mobile source air emissions inventories at U.S. Air Force installations. Air emissions inventories are prepared at Air Force installations to comply with Federal, State, and local air quality regulatory requirements. Inventories are also used in the implementation of various environmental programs, including pollution prevention opportunities, emissions trading, risk assessments, and environmental auditing. Historically, most air emission inventories performed at U.S. Air Force installations have only targeted stationary sources. However, the need to conduct mobile source air emissions inventories is continually growing due to the increase in regulatory requirements associated with mobile sources. The purpose of this document is to provide a uniform and logical approach for preparing mobile source emissions inventories. The report provides recommended methodologies and emission factors for calculating actual emissions from the most common types of mobile sources found at Air Force installations, including aerospace ground equipment (AGE), aircraft flying operations, on-road vehicles, and non-road vehicles/equipment. The pollutants addressed in this report include both criteria pollutants and hazardous air pollutants.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report serves as a guidance document for the preparation of stationary source air emissions inventories at U.S. In the past, inventories have been prepared at Air Force installations using a wide variety of different procedures and formats. The purpose of this document is to provide a uniform and logical approach for preparing these inventories. This approach will enhance the Air Force's ability to utilize inventory data, as well as eliminate many of the common errors typically found in air emissions inventories. The report provides recommended methodologies for calculating both actual and potential emissions from the most common types of stationary sources (emission units/processes) found at Air Force installations. The report also contains the latest Environmental Protection Agency emission factors associated with these source types. The pollutants addressed in this report include the criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants, and ozone-depleting substances.

Download or read book Air Emissions from Animal Feeding Operations written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2003-04-07 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air Emissions from Animal Feeding Operations: Current Knowledge, Future Needs discusses the need for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to implement a new method for estimating the amount of ammonia, nitrous oxide, methane, and other pollutants emitted from livestock and poultry farms, and for determining how these emissions are dispersed in the atmosphere. The committee calls for the EPA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to establish a joint council to coordinate and oversee short - and long-term research to estimate emissions from animal feeding operations accurately and to develop mitigation strategies. Their recommendation was for the joint council to focus its efforts first on those pollutants that pose the greatest risk to the environment and public health.
