Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design by : Leland Malcolm Nicolai
Download or read book Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design written by Leland Malcolm Nicolai and published by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). This book was released on 2010 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aircraft is only a transport mechanism for the payload, and all design decisions must consider payload first. Simply stated, the aircraft is a dust cover. "Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design, Volume 1: Aircraft Design" emphasizes that the science and art of the aircraft design process is a compromise and that there is no right answer; however, there is always a best answer based on existing requirements and available technologies.
Book Synopsis Ground and Flight Evaluation of a Small-Scale Inflatable-Winged Aircraft by :
Download or read book Ground and Flight Evaluation of a Small-Scale Inflatable-Winged Aircraft written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A small-scale, instrumented research aircraft was flown to investigate the flight characteristics of inflatable wings. Ground tests measured the static structural characteristics of the wing at different inflation pressures, and these results compared favorably with analytical predictions. A research-quality instrumentation system was assembled, largely from commercial off-the-shelf components, and installed in the aircraft. Initial flight operations were conducted with a conventional rigid wing having the same dimensions as the inflatable wing. Subsequent flights were conducted with the inflatable wing. Research maneuvers were executed to identify the trim, aerodynamic performance, and longitudinal stability and control characteristics of the vehicle in its different wing configurations. For the angle-of-attack range spanned in this flight program.

Book Synopsis Modeling and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics by : Peter H. Zipfel
Download or read book Modeling and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicle Dynamics written by Peter H. Zipfel and published by AIAA. This book was released on 2000 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A textbook for an advanced undergraduate course in which Zipfel (aerospace engineering, U. of Florida) introduces the fundamentals of an approach to, or step in, design that has become a field in and of itself. The first part assumes an introductory course in dynamics, and the second some specialized knowledge in subsystem technologies. Practicing engineers in the aerospace industry, he suggests, should be able to cover the material without a tutor. Rather than include a disk, he has made supplementary material available on the Internet. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
