Book excerpt: Few know the peerless Lord Agastya and His Consort, Devi Lopamudra, who lived through countless ages, upholding righteousness on Earth and vastly contributing to its knowledge and human evolution. Lord Agastya remains anonymous, hiding His true stature from the world. His Consort, Devi Lopamudra, is even more secretive, concealing Her role as the Universal Mother nurturing Earth and humankind. At fifteen, They blessed me by becoming my spiritual parents. It took six and a half decades for Them to finally relent and reveal a tiny sliver about Them and Their lives to the world. Their endless grace and bountiful mercy made Them give this lifeline to humanity, desperately struggling to be free from suffering. I feel incredibly fortunate and deeply grateful to present Them in Their true majesty and grandeur, hoping genuine seekers will connect to Them with trust and faith as I did, taste Their Divine Nectar and march toward immortality.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agasthya was one of the greatest Maharshis and was born with Mahavishnu’s blessings. He was a great devotee of Lord Sankara and Lord Shanmukha. He installed a number of Shivalingas and was the first sage to visit the southern part of India. Lord Brahma asked Vasishta to return to the world to resume the good work. Thus, two Maharshis were born through Mithra and Varuna, Agasthya being the first and Vasishta following him. Agasthya knew the secrets of the Vedas at birth and was an expert in the use of weapons. Two demons, Ilvala and Vatapi, were the scourge of several Brahmins. Agasthya saw through Ilvala’s devilish plans and simply put an end to Vatapi by digesting him! Seeing his pithrus hanging head downwards from a big tree because he was not still a gruhastha, he agreed to get married so that they could reach heaven. Agasthya was able to swallow the water of an entire sea so that Kaleyas, the demons who hid at the bottom of the sea, could be got rid of. He could convince the Vindhyas to stop growing, something which no one could even believe, let alone achieve. It is because of Agasthya that Nahusha turned into a huge python, thus saving Sachi Devi from marrying him even while her husband was alive. Agasthya was so powerful that he alone was able to stop the tilt of the Himalayan Mountain Range. All the guests had assembled at the southern part of the range making it heavy on one side – this was when they came to witness Lord Siva’s marriage to Parvathi. Lord Siva himself asked Agasthya to go to the south and stop the tilt. In fact, as the sage was disappointed, the Lord bestowed on him the divine power to witness the celestial marriage from his position in the south. On the advice of Agasthya, Lord Rama chanted the hymn,’Adithya Hridaya’ in order to kill Ravana and then performed Aswamedha yaga for the welfare of the world. Agasthya’s curse was so powerful that he did not spare Kubera, the Lord of Wealth. Kubera had ignored when his friend, Mahiman, had spat on the sage’s head from the sky. Again, king Indradyumna was able to reach the lotus feet of Lord Narayana because of the sage’s curse. The sage was known to assume Devendra’s role for the sake of protecting people on earth. Agasthya’s contribution to Tamil is invaluable. He is worshipped in many temples in Tamil Nadu. Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam is a gift to us from the sage in addition to a number of scholars whom the sage gave to the world. Our other books here can be searched using #BharathaSamskruthiPrakashana

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This incredible book began when a little girl found a wooden statue of an ancient sage in a small hill town in southern India. Thirty years later, her father received direct experience from Sage Agastya, whose statue it was. During the next three years, the sage gave him great knowledge in classical Tamil as he sat in meditation. The girl's father gave voice to the knowledge flowing through him in the Tamil language, a mastery of which he did not posses. The girl's mother wrote it all down. The dictation happened without any interruption, research, or prior knowledge of the topic of the day. Soon people arrived and posed different questions and responses were received for questions spoken and unspoken. This book is a translation and transliteration of the original 'Agasthiyar Vazhipaadu'. Translated into easy English as 'Agastya, The Path', the book is literally the path forward for humanity as shown by Sage Agastya. It ushers in an incredible era defining the transition of mankind from material to higher consciousness through the words of this ancient Vedic sage. It is an era where cosmic knowledge is available to all that open their hearts and mind in true devotion. Boldly crossing the realms of scientific limitations, this book is a harbinger of the immense possibilities of that latent power that awaits within each of us. Karma, black magic, creation, death, birth, liberation, guru-disciple relationship, cause of suffering, all these topics are dealt with in the inimitable literary style of this ancient sage. Ample use of play of words, comparisons, and an easy iteration on profound topics in lyrical form reflect his earlier works. While there are several theories and legends regarding the birth of the sage himself in Indian literature, the sage reveals his true origin in this book. In addition to this, those interested in deeper understanding of Hindu rituals like Agnihotram, Kalasa puja will find the inner meaning of these rituals through the sage's explanations. This extensive text written in the style of ancient sacred texts is a beautiful blend of verse and prose, and includes beautiful hymns composed by Agastya.

August himself has just landed a prize government job. The job takes him to Madna, “the hottest town in India,” deep in the sticks. There he finds himself surrounded by incompetents and cranks, time wasters, bureaucrats, and crazies. What to do? Get stoned, shirk work, collapse in the heat, stare at the ceiling. Dealing with the locals turns out to be a lot easier for August than living with himself. English, August is a comic masterpiece from contemporary India. Like A Confederacy of Dunces and The Catcher in the Rye, it is both an inspired and hilarious satire and a timeless story of self-discovery.

Book excerpt: An elegant translation of the beloved epic tale of Prince Rama Few works of literature have inspired so vast an audience across so many radically different languages and cultures as the Ramayana, written in Sanskrit over 2,000 years ago by a poet known to us as Valmiki. William Buck has retold the story of Prince Rama—with all its nobility of spirit, courtly intrigue, heroic renunciation, fierce battles, and triumph of good over evil—in a length and with a style that make the great epic accessible without compromising the spirit and lyricism of the original.

Book excerpt: The seventh and final book of the monumental Rāmāyaṇa of Vālmīki, the Uttarakāṇḍa, brings the epic saga to a close with an account of the dramatic events of King Rāma’s millennia-long reign. It opens with a colorful history of the demonic race of the rākṣasas and the violent career of Rāma’s villainous foe Rāvaṇa, and later recounts Rāma’s grateful discharge of his allies in the great war at Lankā as well as his romantic reunion with his wife Sītā. But dark clouds gather as Rāma makes the agonizing decision to banish his beloved wife, now pregnant. As Rāma continues as king, marvelous tales and events unfurl, illustrating the benefits of righteous rule and the perils that await monarchs who fail to address the needs of their subjects. The Uttarakāṇḍa has long served as a point of social and religious controversy largely for its accounts of the banishment of Sītā, as well as of Rāma’s killing of a low-caste ascetic. This seventh volume in the critical edition and translation of the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa includes an extensive introduction and describes the complex reception history of the Uttarakāṇḍa, as well as exhaustive notes and a comprehensive bibliography.

This book was released on 2022-11-07 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first systematic study of the genealogy, discursive structures, and political implications of the concept of ‘Greater India’, implying a Hindu colonization of Southeast Asia, and used by extension to argue for a past Indian greatness as a colonial power, reproducible in the present and future. From the 1880s to the 1960s, protagonists of the Greater India theme attempted to make a case for the importance of an expansionist Indian civilisation in civilizing Southeast Asia. The argument was extended to include Central Asia, Africa, North and South America, and other regions where Indian migrants were to be found. The advocates of this Indocentric and Hindu revivalist approach, with Hindu and Indian often taken to be synonymous, were involved in a quintessentially parochial project, despite its apparently international dimensions: to justify an Indian expansionist imagination that viewed India’s past as a colonizer and civilizer of other lands as a model for the restoration of that past greatness in the future. Zabarskaite shows that the crucial ideologues and elements used for the formation of the construct of Greater India can be traced to the svadeśī movement of the turn of the century, and that Greater India moved easily between the domains of the scholarly and the popular as it sought to establish itself as a form of nationalist self-assertion.
