Book Synopsis Concepts & Calculations in Analytical Chemistry, Featuring the Use of Excel by : Henry Freiser
Download or read book Concepts & Calculations in Analytical Chemistry, Featuring the Use of Excel written by Henry Freiser and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-03-17 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concepts & Calculations in Analytical Chemistry: A Spreadsheet Approach offers a novel approach to learning the fundamentals of chemical equilibria using the flexibility and power of a spreadsheet program. Through a conceptual presentation of chemical principles, this text will allow the reader to produce and digest large assemblies of numerical data/calculations while still focusing on the chemistry. The chapters are arranged in a logical sequence, identifying almost every equilibrium scenario that an analytical chemist is likely to encounter. The spreadsheet calculations and graphics offer an excellent solution to otherwise time-consuming operations. Worked examples are included throughout the book, and student-tested problems are featured at the end of each chapter. Spreadsheet commands for QuattroPro, Quattro, and Lotus 1-2-3 are embedded in the text. Concepts & Calculations in Analytical Chemistry: A Spreadsheet Approach has been designed to serve both as a supplement to an undergraduate quantitative analysis course or as a text in a graduate-level advanced analytical chemistry course. Professional chemists will also find this to be an excellent introduction to spreadsheet applications in the lab and a modern overview of analytical chemistry in a self-study format.

Book Synopsis The Initiative, Second Edition by : Joseph F. Zimmerman
Download or read book The Initiative, Second Edition written by Joseph F. Zimmerman and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 2014-10-08 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examines the origins, spread, and effectiveness of the initiative. The initiative is the product of the populist movement, which in the late nineteenth century sought to increase voter control of what were viewed as unrepresentative state and local governments. Today, twenty-four states allow registered voters to place proposed state laws on the referendum ballot, and eighteen states authorize voters to place proposed state constitutional amendments on the referendum ballot by collecting a specified number of valid voter signatures. Numerous local governments have a charter provision or a state law provision allowing voters to employ the popular lawmaking device. In The Initiative, Second Edition, Joseph F. Zimmerman traces the origin and spread of the initiative in the United States. The initiative has been a controversial device since first being introduced in South Dakota in 1898, with arguments both in support and in opposition. Zimmerman examines and evaluates both the legal foundation of the initiative, and the arguments against its use. He then concludes with a chapter that develops model constitutional, statutory, and local government charter provisions to assist jurisdictions and their voters contemplating adoption of the initiative or amendment of already existing constitutional, statutory, and charter initiative provisions.

Book Synopsis Developments in Environmental Modelling by : S.E. Jorgensen
Download or read book Developments in Environmental Modelling written by S.E. Jorgensen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of models to assess water quality is becoming increasingly important worldwide. In order to be able to develop a good model, it is necessary to have a good quantitative and ecological description of physical, chemical and biological processes in ecosystems. Such descriptions may be called ``submodels''. This book presents the most important, but not all, submodels applied in water quality modelling. Each chapter deals with a specific physical process and covers its importance, the most applicable submodels (and how to select one), parameter values and their determination, and future research needs. The book will be an excellent reference source for environmental engineers, ecological modellers and all those interested in the modelling of water quality systems.

This book was released on 2009-09-18 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: [2]. The Cell Processor from Sony, Toshiba and IBM (STI) [3], and the Sun UltraSPARC T1 (formerly codenamed Niagara) [4] signal the growing popularity of such systems. Furthermore, Intel’s very recently announced 80-core TeraFLOP chip [5] exemplifies the irreversible march toward many-core systems with tens or even hundreds of processing elements. 1.2 The Dawn of the Communication-Centric Revolution The multi-core thrust has ushered the gradual displacement of the computati- centric design model by a more communication-centric approach [6]. The large, sophisticated monolithic modules are giving way to several smaller, simpler p- cessing elements working in tandem. This trend has led to a surge in the popularity of multi-core systems, which typically manifest themselves in two distinct incarnations: heterogeneous Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoC) and homogeneous Chip Multi-Processors (CMP). The SoC philosophy revolves around the technique of Platform-Based Design (PBD) [7], which advocates the reuse of Intellectual Property (IP) cores in flexible design templates that can be customized accordingly to satisfy the demands of particular implementations. The appeal of such a modular approach lies in the substantially reduced Time-To- Market (TTM) incubation period, which is a direct outcome of lower circuit complexity and reduced design effort. The whole system can now be viewed as a diverse collection of pre-existing IP components integrated on a single die.
