Book excerpt: This book places into perspective the role of the African in world civilization, in particular his little known contributions to the advancement of Europe. A major essay on the evolution of the Caucasoid discusses recent scientific discoveries of the African fatherhood of man and the shift towards albinism (dropping of pigmentation) by the Grimaldi African during an ice age (the Wurm Interstadial) in Europe. The debt owed to African and Arab Moors for certain inventions usually credited to the Renaissance is discussed, as well as the much earlier Afro-Egyptian influence on Greek science and philosophy. The book is divided into six parts: The First Europeans: African Presence in the Ancient Mediterranean Isles and Mainland Greece; Africans in the European Religious Hierarchy (madonnas, saints and popes); African Presence in Western Europe; African Presence in Northern Europe; African Presence in Eastern Europe.

Book Synopsis When the World Was Black Part One by : Supreme Understanding
Download or read book When the World Was Black Part One written by Supreme Understanding and published by Supreme Design Publishing. This book was released on 2013-02-02 with total page 917 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the World Was Black: The Untold History of the World’s First Civilizations (Volume Two of The Science of Self series) has been published in TWO parts. Why two? Because there are far too many stories that remain untold. We had over 200,000 years of Black history to tell – from the southern tip of Chile to the northernmost isles of Europe – and you can’t do that justice in a 300-page book. So there are two parts, each consisting of 360 pages of groundbreaking history, digging deep into the story of all the world’s original people. Part One covers the Black origins of all the world’s oldest cultures and societies, spanning more than 200,000 years of human history. Part Two tells the stories of the Black men and women who introduced urban civilization to the world over the last 20,000 years, up to the time of European contact. Each part has over 100 helpful maps, graphs, and photos, an 8-page full-color insert in the center, and over 300 footnotes and references for further research. “In this book, you’ll learn about the history of Black people. I don’t mean the history you learned in school, which most likely began with slavery and ended with the Civil Rights Movement. I’m talking about Black history BEFORE that. Long before that. In this book, we’ll cover over 200,000 years of Black history. For many of us, that sounds strange. We can’t even imagine what the Black past was like before the slave trade, much less imagine that such a history goes back 200,000 years or more.” “Part Two covers history from 20,000 years ago to the point of European contact. This is the time that prehistoric cultures grew into ancient urban civilizations, a transition known to historians as the “Neolithic Revolution.”

Book Synopsis Kush, the Jewel of Nubia by : Miriam Ma'at-Ka-Re Monges
Download or read book Kush, the Jewel of Nubia written by Miriam Ma'at-Ka-Re Monges and published by Africa Research and Publications. This book was released on 1997 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The great Chiekh Anta Diop gave African culture roots from which one can trace the branches. No African researcher since, however, has provided a comprehensive analysis connecting the ancient Nile Valley civilzation with the African cultural universe. From the pyramids of Egypt to the great walls of Zimbabwe, Western scholars have attributed the achievements of these prodigious indigenous African civilizations to people culturally and geographically alien to Africa. In the case of the ancient Nubian empire of Kush, however, which occupied the southern part of Kemet (ancient Egypt) and all of present-day Sudan, one expects reasonable scholars to attribute this African culture to an African people. Sadly, however, the dogmatic, eurocentric Hegelian analysis of Africa is still alive and well in even the most current research on Nubia and Kush. It is up to African scholars to reconstruct Kushite history using an Afrocentric approach in order to shed light on this vital part of our African heritage. The present much-needed work traces Diop's great "African cultural commonalities" of matriarchy, totemism, divine kingship, and cosmogony to the very core of Kushite culture. This work represents the cutting edge of a new generation of Afrocentric. scholarship whose mandate it is to provide a clearer picture of Africa's true nature and of its genuine contribution to World Civilization.
Book Synopsis Africa's Gift to America by : J. A. Rogers
Download or read book Africa's Gift to America written by J. A. Rogers and published by Wesleyan University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic work of black study that shines a light on the accomplishments of African people within Western history—from the groundbreaking journalist. Originally published in 1959 and revised and expanded in 1989, this book asserts that Africans had contributed more to the world than was previously acknowledged. Historian Joel Augustus Rogers devoted a significant amount of his professional life to unearthing facts about people of African ancestry. He intended these findings to be a refutation of contemporary racist beliefs about the inferiority of blacks. Rogers asserted that the color of skin did not determine intellectual genius, and he publicized the great black civilizations that had flourished in Africa during antiquity. According to Rogers, many ancient African civilizations had been primal molders of Western civilization and culture.
