Book Synopsis Our Long Hairitage by : Roger Sigler
Download or read book Our Long Hairitage written by Roger Sigler and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-06-07 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most causes of hair loss are manmade. Proper nutrition is one thing. But a lush rain forest is ruined by clear-cutting just as close-cropping the head invites a desert. To add insult to injury biocides (which include many hair products and chlorine) aggravate the environment further by destroying the vital inhabitants thereof. These things cause the scalp to become deserted. In contrast our long haired ancestors had healthy heads of hair because they manipulated nature little. This unique book traces the history of this fact as well as the origins of excessive hair removal during times of religious idolatry. Learn the benefits of longer hair from science, health, Scripture, and history to prevent hair loss and skin cancer; for healthy hair and scalp; to protect your head; and to promote your unique identity. This easy-to-understand book abounds with 100 pictures and other illustrations, handy tables, and is completely referenced. The fight against hair loss will never be won until you understand that the real root causes are self-inflicted or enforced against you by others. Read this book first and get the facts before wasting money on products.
Book Synopsis Catalogue of English Bible Translations by : William J. Chamberlin
Download or read book Catalogue of English Bible Translations written by William J. Chamberlin and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1991-12-10 with total page 946 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While other Bible catalogs are available, this comprehensive reference book is destined to become the standard in the field. Chamberlin's one-volume work traces the publication history of multiple editions of Bible translations and offers valuable decriptive annotations. The catalog not only includes complete Bibles, but also Old and New Testaments, partial texts, commentaries that include translations, children's Bibles, Apocryphal writings, and the Koran, as well. Other bibliographies are usually limited to editions commonly found in academic libraries, but Chamberlin's guide also includes Bibles found in private collections. Overall, this catalogue contains more than five times as many entries of different English translations as two other Bible bibliographies, those by Hill and Herbert, combined. The entries are grouped in 151 categories, and within each category entries are listed in chronological order. The accompanying annotations identify the translator and provide an overview of the contents of each work. The detailed indexes make this bibliography a convenient tool for researchers. Bible scholars, collectors, and rare book dealers will find this catalogue a necessary addition to their libraries.

Book Synopsis Karl Barth's Doctrine of Holy Scripture by : Klaas Runia
Download or read book Karl Barth's Doctrine of Holy Scripture written by Klaas Runia and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-11-27 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardly any Christian doctrine is discussed so much today as that of Holy Scripture. Innumerable books are published about it, and official discussions in many churches are concerned with it. Karl Barth’s doctrine plays a great part, whether positively or negatively, in all of these discussions and reports. His stature is so great that no one can deal with the problem of Holy Scripture without considering Barth’s view and defining his own position over against it. Indeed, many aspects of Barth’s view have come to be generally accepted as beyond criticism. Such uncritical acceptance is itself a good reason to devote a special study to Barth’s doctrine of Holy Scripture, because, no matter how we assess it, the Church Dogmatics of Karl Barth is one of the greatest forces in the modern theological world. In its vastness and variety, its comprehensiveness and detail, it constitutes a challenge to every school. Nor is it to be met by caricature or sweeping generalization. The individual themes demand searching analysis and appraisal at the exegetical, historical, and dogmatic levels at which Barth himself develops them. Only on the basis of detailed treatment can there be ultimate understanding and assessment of the whole. It is because Dr. Runia tackles this preliminary problem that his present work is so significant. He does not add to the list of general books. Choosing a critical and sensitive area, he devotes himself to the concentrated task of presenting the Barthian teaching on inspiration in its normative form. In the course of his analysis he examines the proposed biblical basis of Barth’s statement and brings it into lively interaction with the Reformation tradition which Barth believes that he represents. By means of a thorough inquiry into the single point, Dr. Runia thus gives us a far more informative, stimulating, and authoritative criticism that is possible in more comprehensive studies. The result is a valuable work which deserves to be widely studied and which should serve as a model for similar investigations into the many detailed themes of the Dogmatics. It is characterized by an honesty and relevance which gives it more than a narrowly academic interest. The real problems are faced, and it is candidly the most orthodox of statements. Yet the great verities of the traditional doctrine emerge the clearer and stronger for this powerful discussion, and in such a way that they may again make their salutary impact on a wider theological front.

The table of contents is organized by headings within each chapter and the corresponding verse numbers, and the ebook file has been specifically formatted to be fast and easy to use. The HCSB was developed by 100 scholars and English stylists from 17 denominations, who prayerfully translated what is one of the most significant Bible translations available today. The HCSB reflects linguistic advances in vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and formatting while it retains meaningful theological terms. In the HCSB you'll find God's personal name (Yahweh), the use of "Messiah" in the New Testament, and the use of "slave" in the New Testament, just to name a few examples. Also, you'll notice the contemporary speech patterns in the HCSB mean that words like "behold" and "shall" are not used. Instead, words or phrases that are common today can be found in their place. The HCSB employs a first-of-its kind translation philosophy known as Optimal Equivalence, which seeks to achieve an optimal balance of literary precision and emotive clarity through a comprehensive analysis of the text at every level. This process assures maximum transfer of both words and thoughts contained in the original.

Book Synopsis Integrative Theology by : Gordon R. Lewis
Download or read book Integrative Theology written by Gordon R. Lewis and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2010-09-21 with total page 1593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrative Theology is designed to help graduate students in a pluralistic world utilize a standard method of fruitful research. Each chapter on a major doctrine: (1) states a classic issue of ultimate concern, (2) surveys alternative past and present answers and (3) tests those proposals by their congruence with information on the subject progressively revealed from Genesis to Revelation. Then the chapter (4) formulates a doctrinal conclusion that consistently fits the many lines of biblical data, (5) defends that conviction respectfully, and finally (6) explores the conclusion’s relevance to a person’s spiritual birth, growth and service to others, all for the glory of God. Why the title Integrative Theology? In each chapter, steps 2-6 integrate the disciplines of historical, biblical, systematic, apologetic and practical theology.
