Ayuntamiento de San Vicente del Raspeig, firmaban un contrato para actividades de asesoramiento y asistencia técnica entre ambas instituciones. La finalidad del mismo era la realización del proyecto de investigación “Actitudes ante la inmigración en los adolescentes y en los jóvenes”. Venturosas son las ocasiones en las que las corporaciones locales y las universidades colaboran para indagar sobre temas tan transcendentes en la sociedad actual como la inmigración, la adolescencia (o la juventud) y las actitudes, los prejuicios y los estereotipos. Esta obra no es otra cosa que el informe final en el que se pretende dar cuenta y transmitir a la comunidad la mencionada investigación. El texto se estructura en tres partes que, básicamente, equivalen a las tres fases en las que se dividió la ejecución del proyecto. La primera de ellas versa sobre el estado de la cuestión, es decir, sobre la sistematización de la revisión teórica realizada que, ciertamente, presenta un elevado componente conceptual pero que, del mismo modo, resulta necesaria para las partes posteriores. Un sabio estudioso de los fenómenos sociales dijo que no hay nada más práctico que una buena teoría. La segunda parte constituye el informe de investigación empírica y se estructura en las secciones propias de ese tipo de informes en el campo psicoeducativo: introducción, método, resultados –descriptivos, correlaciones, factoriales, de regresión y de ecuaciones estructurales– y discusión. Y, finalmente, en la tercera parte, se plantea una intervención didáctica con el fin de modificar los prejuicios sutiles y las actitudes negativas detectadas en la fase anterior, y se evalúa la propuesta educativa desarrollada. Tres aspectos son destacables en la realización de este trabajo. En primer lugar, merece ser destacada la implicación del profesorado y, especialmente, la dedicación de los directores de los centros de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria de la localidad. En segundo lugar, es relevante la aportación de los investigadores principales: sin su dedicación la tarea hubiera quedado inconclusa. Y, por último, no por ello menos importante, la colaboración de los adolescentes y los jóvenes que estudian en el municipio, sin cuyas respuestas a los cuestionarios no se hubiese podido concluir esta interesante y constructiva tarea. Las conclusiones de la investigación nos indican que hay que estar atentos, especialmente en los tiempos actuales, ante las actitudes negativas y los prejuicios ante los inmigrantes, y que, sin duda, la educación es el mejor camino para combatir tales fenómenos psicosociales.
