Book Synopsis Green Chemistry for Surface Coatings, Inks and Adhesives by : Rainer Höfer
Download or read book Green Chemistry for Surface Coatings, Inks and Adhesives written by Rainer Höfer and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many modern surface coatings and adhesives are derived from fossil feedstocks. With fossil fuels becoming more polluting and expensive to extract as supplies dwindle, industry is turning increasingly to nature, mimicking natural solutions using renewable raw materials and employing new technologies. Highlighting sustainable technologies and applications of renewable raw materials within the framework of green and sustainable chemistry, circular economy and resource efficiency, this book provides a cradle-to-cradle perspective. From potential feedstocks to recycling/reuse opportunities and the de-manufacture of adhesives and solvents, green chemistry principles are applied to all aspects of surface coating, printing, adhesive and sealant manufacture. This book is ideal for students, researchers and industrialists working in green sustainable chemistry, industrial coatings, adhesives, inks and printing technologies.

Book Synopsis Adhesives, Sealants, and Coatings for Space and Harsh Environments by : Lieng-Huang Lee
Download or read book Adhesives, Sealants, and Coatings for Space and Harsh Environments written by Lieng-Huang Lee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New technologies constantly generate new demands for exotic materials to be used in severe environments. The rapid developments of aerospace industries during the last two decades have required new materials to survive extreme high and low temperatures and various radiations. The exploration of new energy sources, e.g., solar and geothermal, has led us to develop new solar collectors and geothermal devices. Even the search for new oils has demanded that we study the corrosive environment of oil fields. In the telecommunication industries, optical fibers have been adopted broadly to replace metallic conductors. However, none of the optical fibers can survive abrasion or corrosion without the application of a coating material. For microelectronics, protection in terms of coatings and encapsulants is deemed necessary to prevent corrosion. One of the major causes of corrosion has been shown to be water which appears to be abundant in our earthly environments. Water can attack the bulk adhesive (or sealant), the interface, or the adherend. Water can also cause delamination of coating film, and it is definitely the major ingredient in causing cathodic or anodic corrosion. Thus, water becomes the major obstacle in solving durability problems of various materials in harsh environments.

Book Synopsis Adhesives and Coatings by : Charles Newey
Download or read book Adhesives and Coatings written by Charles Newey and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than ten years, the Science for Conservators Series have been the key basic texts for conservators throughout the world. Scientific concepts are basic to the conservation of artefacts of every type, yet many conservators have little or no scientific training. These introductory volumes provide non-scientists with the essential theoretical backgound to their work. The prime reason for the books' continuing success is that they clarify often complex ideas, without distortion or over-simplification. They are essential basic textbooks for all conservators in training, and as such are in use throughout the world. Now part of the Heritage: Care-Preservation-Management handbook programme, these volumes in the collection have now been provided with carefully selected bibliographies and reading lists, to bring the student into contact with the most recent work in the field. Further volumes are in preparation.

This volume focuses on those surfactant areas incorporating the greatest number of supplier and user companies. Authors have been selected from leading industrial and academic laboratories around the world. It provides an introduction to the underlying chemistry and technology in these industrial areas, and at the same time, highlights important recent developments. Surfactants in Polymers, Coatings, Inks and Adhesives is a book for surfactant researchers and for manufacturers and users of surfactants. In particular, surfactant chemists, analytical chemists, environmental chemists, users of surfactant formulations in the fields of specialty chemicals, polymers, and detergents, and health and safety personnel.

Book Synopsis Adhesion Aspects of Polymeric Coatings by : K.L. Mittal
Download or read book Adhesion Aspects of Polymeric Coatings written by K.L. Mittal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume chronicles the proceedings of the Symposium on Adhesion Aspects of Polymeric Coatings held under the auspices of the Electrochemical Society in Minneapolis, MN, May 10-15, 1981. This event was cosponsored by the Dielectric and Insulation, and Electrothermics and Metallurgy Divisions. Polymeric coatings are used for a number of purposes, e. g. , decorative, protective, functional (as dielectrics or insulators) and a special application of polymeric (organic) coatings is their use as lithographic materials for making integrated circuit elements. Irrespective of the purpose of the coating, it must adhere well to the underlying substrate. So the need to under stand the factors which influence adhesion of organic coatings and the ways to attain desired adhesion is quite manifest. This Symposium was designed to bring together scientists and technologists interested in the adhesion aspects of polymeric coatings, to provide a forum for discussion of latest findings, and to provide an opportunity for cross-pollination of ideas. The technical program contained a total of 46 papers by authors from various corners of the world. The program comprised both invited overviews and contributed original research papers, as this blend is the best way to present the state of knowledge of a topic. The invited speakers were selected so as to represent widely differ ing disciplines and interests and they hailed from various aca demic and industrial research laboratories.
