Book Synopsis Addison v. Peyton by : Elizabeth I. Boals
Download or read book Addison v. Peyton written by Elizabeth I. Boals and published by Aspen Publishing. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this civil case version of State v. Peyton, Taylor Addison has filed a complaint against Jordan Peyton alleging negligence and negligence per se. Addison further alleges that Peyton operated her car in an unsafe manner while under the influence of alcohol and struck Addison's car causing the coffee she was holding to spill over onto her hand, which resulted in severe burns. Addison is seeking relief for pain and suffering, medical costs, lost wages, and car damages. With materials included for the trial of the defendant on these claims, the second edition of Addison v. Peyton adds social media evidence to a case that also provides student opportunities to consider the following criminal trial issues: medical expert testimony, character evidence, criminal conviction impeachment, bias impeachment, prior recorded testimony, evidence from a 911 call, breath test computer printout, witness statements on Twitter. There are two witnesses for the Plaintiff and two for the Defense. Addison v. Peyton also offers optional expert testimony for each party on Peyton's likely BAC at the time of the accident. Parties can be played by either men or women. Digital versions of the exhibits are available online for student use. The author has also created an extensive teaching manual to not only help the professor with testimony but to provide skill exercises in the rules of evidence, refreshing recollection, impeachment by omission, impeachment by prior inconsistent statements, impeachment with bias, and expert voir dire. If you provide the environment, NITA will provide the setting for a most interesting experiential training opportunity.

Book Synopsis The Foreign Policy of John Rawls and Amartya Sen by : Neal Leavitt
Download or read book The Foreign Policy of John Rawls and Amartya Sen written by Neal Leavitt and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2013-09-25 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The foreign policy writings of John Rawls and Amartya Sen provide insight and clarity into some of the most difficult problems confronting humanity. What is the most effective strategy of national defense? Does an effective strategy of national defense involve the possession of nuclear weapons? Why must the right to vote—and the right to health care and the right to an education and the right to employment—center the foreign policy of a democracy? These are questions Rawls and Sen raise and answer in their writings. This book describes the foreign policy of Rawls and Sen while building up towards a policy recommendation. Human rights protect civilians from heads of state and their armies—and the foreign policy of a democracy must promote human rights. But the nature of this recommendation is very specific. By redirecting some military spending to development goals, the core needs of more civilians can be better met while simultaneously advancing human security. http://www.bu.edu/today/2013/pov-nuclear-armament-is-a-lose-lose/ http://www.bu.edu/today/2014/pov-to-stop-bad-guys-ratify-the-united-nations-arms-trade-treaty/

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone knows that the planet is in trouble, but is there a solution? This timely book identifies the most effective ways individuals can be more green in four key areas: home, travel, food, and consumerism. It also describes how citizens can ensure that governments take the actions necessary to make sustainable lifestyles the norm instead of the exception. Environmental lawyer David Boyd and celebrated ecologist David Suzuki provide vital tips for choosing a home, creating a healthy indoor environment, and decreasing energy and water use — and utility bills. They discuss what readers can do to drive and fly less, profile the most environmentally friendly transportation choices, and explain how to purchase carbon credits, among other suggestions. In addition, they offer simple changes individuals can make in their diet to eat fresher, tastier, healthier food. Included too is invaluable advice about how to buy fewer things and avoid toxic consumer products.
