Book Synopsis Econometric Analysis of Panel Data by : Badi H. Baltagi
Download or read book Econometric Analysis of Panel Data written by Badi H. Baltagi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook offers a comprehensive introduction to panel data econometrics, an area that has enjoyed considerable growth over the last two decades. Micro and Macro panels are becoming increasingly available, and methods for dealing with these types of data are in high demand among practitioners. Software programs have fostered this growth, including freely available programs in R and numerous user-written programs in both Stata and EViews. Written by one of the world’s leading researchers and authors in the field, Econometric Analysis of Panel Data has established itself as the leading textbook for graduate and postgraduate courses on panel data. It provides up-to-date coverage of basic panel data techniques, illustrated with real economic applications and datasets, which are available at the book’s website on springer.com. This new sixth edition has been fully revised and updated, and includes new material on dynamic panels, limited dependent variables and nonstationary panels, as well as spatial panel data. The author also provides empirical illustrations and examples using Stata and EViews. “This is a definitive book written by one of the architects of modern, panel data econometrics. It provides both a practical introduction to the subject matter, as well as a thorough discussion of the underlying statistical principles without taxing the reader too greatly." Professor Kajal Lahiri, State University of New York, Albany, USA. "This book is the most comprehensive work available on panel data. It is written by one of the leading contributors to the field, and is notable for its encyclopaedic coverage and its clarity of exposition. It is useful to theorists and to people doing applied work using panel data. It is valuable as a text for a course in panel data, as a supplementary text for more general courses in econometrics, and as a reference." Professor Peter Schmidt, Michigan State University, USA. “Panel data econometrics is in its ascendancy, combining the power of cross section averaging with all the subtleties of temporal and spatial dependence. Badi Baltagi provides a remarkable roadmap of this fascinating interface of econometric method, enticing the novitiate with technical gentleness, the expert with comprehensive coverage and the practitioner with many empirical applications.” Professor Peter C. B. Phillips, Cowles Foundation, Yale University, USA.
Book Synopsis Econometrics of Panel Data by : Erik Biørn
Download or read book Econometrics of Panel Data written by Erik Biørn and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-10-17 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Panel data is a data type increasingly used in research in economics, social sciences, and medicine. Its primary characteristic is that the data variation goes jointly over space (across individuals, firms, countries, etc.) and time (over years, months, etc.). Panel data allow examination of problems that cannot be handled by cross-section data or time-series data. Panel data analysis is a core field in modern econometrics and multivariate statistics, and studies based on such data occupy a growing part of the field in many other disciplines. The book is intended as a text for master and advanced undergraduate courses. It may also be useful for PhD-students writing theses in empirical and applied economics and readers conducting empirical work on their own. The book attempts to take the reader gradually from simple models and methods in scalar (simple vector) notation to more complex models in matrix notation. A distinctive feature is that more attention is given to unbalanced panel data, the measurement error problem, random coefficient approaches, the interface between panel data and aggregation, and the interface between unbalanced panels and truncated and censored data sets. The 12 chapters are intended to be largely self-contained, although there is also natural progression. Most of the chapters contain commented examples based on genuine data, mainly taken from panel data applications to economics. Although the book, inter alia, through its use of examples, is aimed primarily at students of economics and econometrics, it may also be useful for readers in social sciences, psychology, and medicine, provided they have a sufficient background in statistics, notably basic regression analysis and elementary linear algebra.

Book Synopsis Noise Filtering for Big Data Analytics by : Souvik Bhattacharyya
Download or read book Noise Filtering for Big Data Analytics written by Souvik Bhattacharyya and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-06-21 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains how to perform data de-noising, in large scale, with a satisfactory level of accuracy. Three main issues are considered. Firstly, how to eliminate the error propagation from one stage to next stages while developing a filtered model. Secondly, how to maintain the positional importance of data whilst purifying it. Finally, preservation of memory in the data is crucial to extract smart data from noisy big data. If, after the application of any form of smoothing or filtering, the memory of the corresponding data changes heavily, then the final data may lose some important information. This may lead to wrong or erroneous conclusions. But, when anticipating any loss of information due to smoothing or filtering, one cannot avoid the process of denoising as on the other hand any kind of analysis of big data in the presence of noise can be misleading. So, the entire process demands very careful execution with efficient and smart models in order to effectively deal with it.

Download or read book Large-dimensional Panel Data Econometrics: Testing, Estimation And Structural Changes written by Feng Qu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-08-24 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to fill the gap between panel data econometrics textbooks, and the latest development on 'big data', especially large-dimensional panel data econometrics. It introduces important research questions in large panels, including testing for cross-sectional dependence, estimation of factor-augmented panel data models, structural breaks in panels and group patterns in panels. To tackle these high dimensional issues, some techniques used in Machine Learning approaches are also illustrated. Moreover, the Monte Carlo experiments, and empirical examples are also utilised to show how to implement these new inference methods. Large-Dimensional Panel Data Econometrics: Testing, Estimation and Structural Changes also introduces new research questions and results in recent literature in this field.
