Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been recognized that productivity improvement is an important issue of the 80' s. It is regarded as the most efficient way to improve national economy and to enrich the quality of life. The key to productivity improvement is advanced automation, especially computer-integrated automation for engineering design and office operations as well as manufacturing processes. This is the theme of 1983 International Conference on Advanced Automation, ICAA-83. This book contains the articles which are the revised and updated version of the papers presented at the ICAA-83 Conference. Traditionally, automation is synonymous with mechanization; but this Conference has treated automation from a different point of view. We consider automation as a process to unify various automated information processing systems for performing business, administration, design, engineering and manufacturing functions, in addition to the traditional fixed automation in production. In other words, design automation and office automation form an inte gral part of factory automation to accomplish comprehensive computer-integrated manufacturing and production. In engineering and manufacturing today, quality design and high productivity are synonymous with the use of computers, robots, expert systems, and other computer-based technologies. The greater the degree of computer-based automation exploited and implemented, the greater a nation's ability to survive in tomorrow's extremely competitive world market.

Book Synopsis Adaptive Control with Recurrent High-order Neural Networks by : George A. Rovithakis
Download or read book Adaptive Control with Recurrent High-order Neural Networks written by George A. Rovithakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage technology transfer in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies ... , new challenges. Much of this development work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers and the reports of advanced collaborative projects. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. Neural networks is one of those areas where an initial burst of enthusiasm and optimism leads to an explosion of papers in the journals and many presentations at conferences but it is only in the last decade that significant theoretical work on stability, convergence and robustness for the use of neural networks in control systems has been tackled. George Rovithakis and Manolis Christodoulou have been interested in these theoretical problems and in the practical aspects of neural network applications to industrial problems. This very welcome addition to the Advances in Industrial Control series provides a succinct report of their research. The neural network model at the core of their work is the Recurrent High Order Neural Network (RHONN) and a complete theoretical and simulation development is presented. Different readers will find different aspects of the development of interest. The last chapter of the monograph discusses the problem of manufacturing or production process scheduling.
Book Synopsis Adaptive Control for Robotic Manipulators by : Dan Zhang
Download or read book Adaptive Control for Robotic Manipulators written by Dan Zhang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-02-03 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The robotic mechanism and its controller make a complete system. As the robotic mechanism is reconfigured, the control system has to be adapted accordingly. The need for the reconfiguration usually arises from the changing functional requirements. This book will focus on the adaptive control of robotic manipulators to address the changed conditions. The aim of the book is to summarise and introduce the state-of-the-art technologies in the field of adaptive control of robotic manipulators in order to improve the methodologies on the adaptive control of robotic manipulators. Advances made in the past decades are described in the book, including adaptive control theories and design, and application of adaptive control to robotic manipulators.

Book Synopsis Machining of Nanocomposites by : Ramesh Kumar Nayak
Download or read book Machining of Nanocomposites written by Ramesh Kumar Nayak and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-03-22 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanocomposites (both heterogeneous and anisotropic) are hard to machine due to their enhanced properties and there is a need to know about the problems associated with the machining of nanocomposites by various conventional as well as non-conventional machining operations. Machining of nanocomposites emphasizes on different fabrication methods to develop nanocomposites (polymers, metals, and ceramics) and different machining processes used in industries. Further, it describes issues and challenges including research trends associated with the same. It also evaluates mechanical and wear properties of the composites as well. Features: Covers manufacturing process of nanocomposites. Includes conventional and non-conventional machining process and relevant applications. Addresses effect of different nano-reinforcements on machinability. Discusses usage of design of experiments and optimization technique to improve the machinability of nanocomposites. Reviews challenges on machining of nanocomposites and its remedies. This book aims at Researchers, Graduate students in Mechanical Engineering, and Materials Sciences including Composites, Nanotechnology, and Machining.
