Book Synopsis Les lipides – nutrition et santé by : LERAY Claude
Download or read book Les lipides – nutrition et santé written by LERAY Claude and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-04-04 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An international array of authors, including some prominent extreme athletes like Jake Burton and Arlo Eisenberg, look at a variety of issues and concerns within the new action extreme sports that are gaining popularity throughout the world. For each sport, an interpretation is presented through two essays: one written by a scholar active in some aspect of research for the given activity, and another by a practitioner/athlete who writes "from the inside out." The juxtaposed essays confront questions about the essence of sport such as, What is sport?; How does it originate?; and What is its use, value, and function? This book offers a fascinating look at how twentieth- and twenty-first-century sport forms emerge, proliferate, and take hold in a sport-crazy world.
Book Synopsis Physical Activity and Exercise among Children: Health Implications by : Åsa B. Tornberg
Download or read book Physical Activity and Exercise among Children: Health Implications written by Åsa B. Tornberg and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-11-28 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the World Health Organization’s new recommendations on physical activity for children, regardless of living with disability or not, physical activity should be at least 60 minutes per day. Around the world, children are less and less physically active, leading to increased health risks. A healthy lifestyle, as being physically active, is normally set during childhood and adolescence, making children an important group to study and target. This Research Topic will address physiological health effects related to physical activity and exercise among children, regardless of living with disability or not, and how to assess these effects in a valid and reliable way. Children do not respond to physical activity and exercise in the same way as adults do due to unmatured physiology. Living with a disability may also affect the child’s response to physical activity and exercise. In order to be able to follow and prescribe physical activity and exercise to children, rigorous knowledge is needed on how children respond to different physical activity and exercise regimes. Additionally, to be able to follow and prescribe physical activity and exercise to children, valid and reliable assessment methods are needed. Not only do the tests need to be valid and reliable, but also common standards on how to interpret them are required. This Frontiers Research Topic seeks a broad range of original research articles, systematic review articles and meta-analyses in the area of “physical activity and exercise among children” including: -Physical activity assessments which are age- and ability-adjusted, -Fitness assessments which are age- and ability-adjusted, -Effects on health-related outcomes in relation to different physical activity interventions which are age- and ability-adapted, -Effects on health-related outcomes in relation to different exercise interventions which are age- and ability-adapted.
Book Synopsis Sport and the Communities by : Allan Edwards
Download or read book Sport and the Communities written by Allan Edwards and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-01-08 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past three decades there has been widespread commitment to an understanding that sport can play a key role in community development. The role of sport within communities has been promoted with a wide range of goals such as environmental considerations, encouragement of civic pride, enhancement of confidence and self-esteem and development of social cohesion as well as the fostering of a fit and healthy workforce. To address these issues, a number of programmes have been funded and supported to develop the role of sport in communities worldwide and to increase participation and access to sport and physical activities in rural areas. In addition we are witnessing the development of new sports communities through social media such as Facebook and My Space. The concern is that we need to revisit the concept of ‘community and sport’ and to investigate the current understanding of these terms in view of the evolving role of sport in a range of national settings. This book will present the platform upon which this process can be undertaken and offers a fundamental re-evaluation of the relationship that currently exists between sport and communities throughout selected parts of the world. This book was previously published as a special issue of Sport in Society.

Book Synopsis Oeil et Maladies systémiques by : SÈVE Pascal, KODJIKIAN Laurent
Download or read book Oeil et Maladies systémiques written by SÈVE Pascal, KODJIKIAN Laurent and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-11-25 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Advances in Rugby Coaching by : Richard Light
Download or read book Advances in Rugby Coaching written by Richard Light and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary sports coaching studies have moved beyond simple biophysical approaches to more complex understandings of coaching as a set of social relationships and processes. This is the first book to examine what that means in the context of one major international sport, rugby union. Drawing on cutting-edge empirical research in the five most powerful rugby-playing nations, as well as developments in pedagogical and social theory, the book argues for an holistic approach to coaching, coach development and player and team performance, helping to close the gap between coaching theory and applied practice. With player-centered approaches to coaching, such as Game Sense and Teaching Games for Understanding, at the heart of the book, it covers key contemporary topics in coach education such as: Long term coach development Experience and culture in coaching practice Positive coaching for youth rugby Improving decision-making ability Collaborative action research in rugby coaching Informed by work with elite-level rugby coaches, and examining coaching practice in both the full and sevens versions of the game, this book encourages the reader to think critically about their own coaching practice and to consider innovative new approaches to player and coach development. It is essential reading for all students of sports coaching with an interest in rugby, and for any coach, manager or administrator looking to develop better programmes in coach education.
Book Synopsis Social Tourism at the Crossroads by : Anya Diekmann
Download or read book Social Tourism at the Crossroads written by Anya Diekmann and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-21 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social tourism is at a pivotal point. Over the past decade, there has been increased interest and research into social tourism issues, and as a result there is now much greater evidence on the important role that social tourism can play in providing significant benefits for the people supported through social tourism schemes. However, despite these advances and awareness of the benefits of tourism participation in most countries, there is still much confusion and ambiguity about the definition, role, and purpose of social tourism. This comprehensive volume reflects recent shifts in social tourism research by focusing on target groups and the benefits or constraints of these groups in holiday participation. The authors explore the diversity of issues, theories and social contexts that are relevant to social tourism research, offering a range of quantitative and qualitative methods and experimental designs as well as various policy and practice contexts to address policy issues. They also highlight opportunities for greater intensity of research on the importance of policy in advancing social tourism and to stress the fundamental role that social tourism can play in achieving strategic policy goals towards enhancing wellbeing, citizenship, and quality of life in the future. This book was originally published as a special issue of the Journal of Policy Research in Tourism, Leisure and Events.
