This book was released on 2022 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation focuses on the activation and transformation of small molecules by a dinuclear nickel platform. A series of nickel-complexes based on a binucleating bis(tridentate) ligand that consists of two ß-diketiminato compartments linked by a pyrazolate unit has been synthesized. Starting from a bromide-bridged complex, reduction with KC8 yields a highly reactive double “T”-shaped dinickel(I) complex which is capable of two-electron reductive binding of small molecules. The high reactivity of the Ni(I) metal centers was utilized to achieve the reductive splitting of water supported ...

Book Synopsis Catalysis by Metal Complexes and Nanomaterials by : Meng Zhou (Chemistry professor)
Download or read book Catalysis by Metal Complexes and Nanomaterials written by Meng Zhou (Chemistry professor) and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Catalysis is truly an interdisciplinary field to which chemists, biologists, physicists, and engineers have made seminal contributions. This book aims to address the notably diverse topic of transition-metal catalysis in a single volume. The first half of the book is dedicated to the discrete and atomically precise metal complexes for homogeneous catalysis. Bimetallic, organometallic, and coordination complexes of early, late, and post-transition metals are described. Catalytic hydrogenation, oxidation, and coupling reactions are presented. The second half of the book focuses on three distinct types of nanomaterials: (1) zero- valent metallic nanoparticles, (2) titanium dioxide semiconductors, and (3) the porous coordination polymer known as the metal-organic framework. The chapters illustrate how deeply catalysis is influenced by other disciplines (e.g., coordination chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, computational chemistry, organic synthesis, photochemistry, materials science, environmental chemistry, green chemistry, and renewable energy). Advancements in these areas fuel the rapid growth of catalysis science. This book allows readers to reach a high-level of understanding in catalysis by learning from the perspectives of active practitioners. Unlike a textbook that provides a systematic, comprehensive, and historical education on the general topics of catalysis, this book offers critical case studies on select topics. Substantial emphasis is placed on the structural and fundamental properties that dictate catalyst performance, enabling readers to quickly understand and apply knowledge from cutting-edge studies and applications detailed within. This book can be utilized as a handbook, a textbook or textbook supplement, or a reference to guide future work"--

Book Synopsis Cross-Coupling Reactions by : Norio Miyaura
Download or read book Cross-Coupling Reactions written by Norio Miyaura and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1972, a very powerful catalytic cycle for carbon-carbon bond formation was 2 first discovered by the coupling reaction of Grignard reagents at the sp -carbon. Over the past 30 years, the protocol has been substantially improved and expanded to other coupling reactions of Li,B,N,O,Al,Si,P,S,Cu,Mn,Zn,In,Sn, and Hg compounds. These reactions provided an indispensable and simple methodology for preparative organic chemists. Due to the simplicity and rel- bility in the carbon-carbon, carbon-heteroatom, and carbon-metalloid bo- formations,as well as high efficiency of the catalytic process, the reactions have been widely employed by organic chemists in various fields. Application of the protocol ranges from various syntheses of complex natural products to the preparation of biologically relevant molecules including drugs, and of sup- molecules, and to functional materials. The reactions on solid surfaces allow robot synthesis and combinatorial synthesis. Now, many organic chemists do not hesitate to use transition metal complexes for the transformation of org- ic molecules. Indeed, innumerable organic syntheses have been realized by the catalyzed reactions of transition metal complexes that are not achievable by t- ditional synthetic methods. Among these, the metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have undoubtedly contributed greatly to the development of such a new area of “metal-catalyzed organic syntheses”. An excellent monograph for the cross-coupling reactions and other met- catalyzed C-C bond-forming reactions recently appeared in Metal-catalyzed Cross-coupling Reactions (Wiley-VCH,1998).
