Book Synopsis Accounting Education by : Seedwell Tanaka Muyako Sithole
Download or read book Accounting Education written by Seedwell Tanaka Muyako Sithole and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-02-24 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive and critical overview of learning accounting. It illustrates that when learners need to mentally integrate two or more distinct items of information, it places unnecessary demands on cognitive load. The book discusses the cognitive load theory, which assumes that the task of mental integration increases the load on already limited working memory, and it does so to such an extent that learning may be severely impeded. The book also investigates how students could deal with cognitive overload when learning introductory accounting using three instructional design formats: the split-attention format, the integrated format, and the self-managed format.

This volume documents the development of accounting education and practice at country and global levels; studies the sensitivity of accounting education and practices to the unique socio-economic needs of its environment; and allows comparative studies at a time when attempts have begun to harmonize accounting education internationally. Most importantly, it shows how educational programmes around the world are preparing future accounting professionals to deal with the rapid technological and environmental changes of the 21st century.
Book Synopsis The Interface of Accounting Education and Professional Training by : Elaine Evans
Download or read book The Interface of Accounting Education and Professional Training written by Elaine Evans and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-07-16 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over many decades the global development of professional accounting education programmes has been undertaken by higher education institutions, professional accounting bodies, and employers. These institutions have sometimes co-operated and sometimes been in conflict over the education and/or training of future accounting professionals. These ongoing problems of linkage and closure between academic accounting education and professional training have new currency because of pressures from students and employers to move accounting preparation onto a more efficient, economic and practical basis. The Interface of Accounting Education and Professional Training explores current elements of the interface between the academic education and professional training of accountants in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. It argues for a reassessment of the considerations and requirements for developing professional accounting programs which can make a student: capable of being an accountant (the academy); ready to be an accountant (the workplace); and professional in being an accountant (the professional bodies). This book was originally published as a special issue of Accounting Education: An International Journal.

Book Synopsis Financial Inclusion and Digital Transformation Regulatory Practices in Selected SADC Countries by : Howard Chitimira
Download or read book Financial Inclusion and Digital Transformation Regulatory Practices in Selected SADC Countries written by Howard Chitimira and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-28 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the regulation and promotion of financial inclusion and provides a comparative analysis of the regulation, promotion and enforcement of the relevant laws in the SADC (in particular, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe), as well as the challenges of financial inclusion. In turn, it evaluates financial inclusion in the context of specific challenges faced by unbanked and underbanked customers, who are easy targets for cyber criminals because they tend to have lower levels of digital literacy. The book presents novel discussions that identify the challenges and flaws associated with the enforcement of financial inclusion laws and related measures intended to promote financial inclusion in the SADC region. This is primarily done in order to reveal the current strengths and weaknesses of financial inclusion laws in relation to certain aspects of the companies, securities and financial markets in the region. For example, there is no common financial inclusion instrument/law that is effectively and uniformly applied throughout the SADC. This has impeded the enforcement authorities’ efforts to effectively combat financial exclusion across the region. The book is likely the most comprehensive study to date on the regulation and promotion of financial inclusion in the SADC region and fills a major gap in SADC and African legal jurisprudence. As such, it offers a valuable asset for policymakers, attorneys, bankers, securities (share) holders, and other market participants who deal with financial inclusion, as well as undergraduate and graduate students interested in the topic.

Book Synopsis Globalisation of Accounting Standards by : Jayne Maree Godfrey
Download or read book Globalisation of Accounting Standards written by Jayne Maree Godfrey and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Jayne Godfrey and Keryn Chalmers explore the intricacies of the globalisation of accounting standards - arguably one of the most significant business developments of the wider globalisation process during the past two decades. They examine the key issues and implications of this harmonization of accounting standards from the perspectives of a diverse range of worldwide stakeholders. "Globalisation of Accounting Standards" shows that globalisation approaches differ significantly because countries seek to maintain varying degrees of sovereignty over their regulations. International differences in economic, political, legal, religious and social characteristics also affect globalisation approaches and, in turn, influence national accounting standard-setting agendas. The book explores why countries relinquish their existing national accounting standard-setting regimes to join the global movement. It also seeks to resolve questions such as: To what extent are national incentives altruistic, economic, political or social? Who are the winners and losers in the process? This authoritative book is thoroughly researched and expertly informed. Written by both academics and regulators, it tackles a critical and controversial issue in the globalisation movement. As such, it will be of great interest to a wide-ranging audience including: international, national, private and public sector standard-setters, economic regulators, accounting academics and political economists and strategists.
