Book Synopsis According to Baba by : Stacey Zembrzycki
Download or read book According to Baba written by Stacey Zembrzycki and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2014-04-08 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dreams of steady employment in the mining sector led thousands of Ukrainian immigrants to northern Ontario in the early 1900s. As a child, Stacey Zembrzycki listened to her baba’s stories about Sudbury’s small but polarized Ukrainian community and what it was like growing up ethnic during the Depression. According to Baba grew out of those stories, out of a fledgling historian’s desire to capture the experiences of her grandparents’ generation on paper. Eighty-two interviews conducted by Stacey and her grandmother laid the groundwork for this insightful and personal social history of Sudbury’s Ukrainian community. The interviews also brought to light the challenges of doing oral history, particularly as Stacey lost authority to her Baba, wrestled it back, and eventually came to share it. By disclosing the hard work that goes into making communities partners in research, Zembrzycki offers a new paradigm for writing oral history and for studying the politics of memory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The word 'Rinanubandh' literally means 'Karmic debt'. It is an impossible task to write the exaxt meaning of this word, as a lot of nuances are lost while doing so. When you read the lives of Babs's devotees you realise that it has deeper meaning. A bond that has existed for many generations. His devotees came from varied backgrounds. Some highly educated, others were rustic villagers. Some were young, while others were middle-aged and set in their ways. They went to Shirdi not knowing what to expect. Others went there by chance. But once they met Baba their lives were changed forever. And the 'Karmic bond"" started unfolding. Thus they returned time and again to be with the living God who blessed them and gave them a handful of udi. In the years that followed, no matter what befell them they knew that Baba was always with them. This book is a kaleidoscope of leelas, photographs and the lives of Baba's devotee. It will make the reading of Shri Sai Satcharita easier and fruitful.

Book Synopsis Prema Sai Baba. The Mystery of God. Part One by : Svyatoslav Dubyanskiy
Download or read book Prema Sai Baba. The Mystery of God. Part One written by Svyatoslav Dubyanskiy and published by Svyatoslav Dubyanskiy. This book was released on 2024-01-13 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to Prema Sai Baba, the divine incarnation of the 21st century. Prema Sai Baba is the third incarnation of God on Earth, in our era. The first was Shirdi Sai Baba (1835-1918), the second was Sathya Sai Baba (1926-2011). At the outset, I must acknowledge the difficulty of writing this book at this very moment. It is now 2023. The previous incarnation of God, Sathya Sai Baba, left the physical body in 2011, that is, twelve years ago. Prema Sai Baba was born on June 28, 2012. At the time of writing this book, Prema Sai Baba is eleven years old. I have been visiting his house for eight years and watching every day of his childhood growth and development. The first time I met the divine child was when he was three years old.

Book excerpt: Part coming of age, part call to action, this fast-paced #ownvoices novel about a Deaf teenager is a unique and inspiring exploration of what it means to belong. Smart, artistic, and independent, sixteen year old Piper is tired of trying to conform. Her mom wants her to be “normal,” to pass as hearing, to get a good job. But in a time of food scarcity, environmental collapse, and political corruption, Piper has other things on her mind—like survival. Piper has always been told that she needs to compensate for her Deafness in a world made for those who can hear. But when she meets Marley, a new world opens up—one where Deafness is something to celebrate, and where resilience means taking action, building a com-munity, and believing in something better. Published to rave reviews as Future Girl in Australia (Allen & Unwin, Sept. 2020), this empowering, unforgettable story is told through a visual extravaganza of text, paint, collage, and drawings. Set in an ominously prescient near future, The Words in My Hands is very much a novel for our turbulent times.

Book Synopsis Miracle of Love - Stories about Neem Karoli Baba by : Ram Dass
Download or read book Miracle of Love - Stories about Neem Karoli Baba written by Ram Dass and published by Neem Karoli Baba Ashram. This book was released on with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: T he material in this volume is culled from over two thousand stories about Maharajji gathered during five years from more than one hundred devotees. To these devotees who shared their treasured memo ries, I wish to express my deep love and appreciation. Some of them felt that no book could or should be written about a being with qualities as vast, formless, and subtle as Maharajji’s, and yet they contributed their stories nevertheless. I honor them for this kindness and I hope that in my zeal to share experiences of Maharajji with others who were not fortu nate enough to have met him, I have not misused their trust. Some devotees tell me that stories told by other devotees are not fac tually accurate. I have no way of ascertaining the authenticity of any single story. All I can report is that those o f us who gathered the stories were impressed by the credibility of those of us who told the stories. Though the responsibility for this manuscript lies solely with me, I am delighted to acknowledge a lot o f loving help from my friends:
