Dementsprechend äußern sie den Wunsch nach einer ‚normalen‘ Familie, die in der gegenwärtigen Gesellschaft aus Vater, Mutter und Kind beziehungsweise Kindern besteht. Durch das Grundgesetz der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wird jedem Menschen das Recht auf Gleichheit, freie Entfaltung der Persönlichkeit und Schutz von Ehe und Familie zugesprochen. Zu der freien Entfaltung der Persönlichkeit zählen auch Partnerschaft und Sexualität, so dass folglich keinem Menschen, egal ob dieser eine geistige Behinderung hat oder nicht, das Recht auf Elternschaft abgesprochen werden darf. Die Arbeit zu der Aufgabenstellung‚Untersuchung des Spannungsverhältnisses von Sozialer Arbeit und den rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen bei Kinderwunsch von Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung‘ beginnt inhaltlich mit einer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Kinderwunsch bei Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung. Hierbei wird der Wunsch nach einem eigenen Kind in Bezug zur heutigen Gesellschaft gesetzt und Vorurteile gegenüber einer Elternschaft von Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung werden aufgegriffen. In einigen Heimen werden bereits neue sexualpädagogische Ansätze erprobt. Um hier eine Orientierungshilfe zu geben, wurden in den Anhang des Buches entsprechende Richtlinien aufgenommen.
