Book Synopsis The Selected Models of the Mesostructure of Composites by : Alexander Herega
Download or read book The Selected Models of the Mesostructure of Composites written by Alexander Herega and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-31 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the role of mesostructure on the properties of composite materials. A complex percolation model is developed for the material structure containing percolation clusters of phases and interior boundaries. Modeling of technological cracks and the percolation in the Sierpinski carpet are described. The interaction of mesoscopic interior boundaries of the material, including the fractal nature of interior boundaries, the oscillatory nature of it interaction and also the stochastic model of the interior boundaries’ interaction, the genesis, structure, and properties are discussed. One of part of the book introduces the percolation model of the long-range effect which is based on the notion on the multifractal clusters with transforming elements, and the theorem on the field interaction of multifractals is described. In addition small clusters, their characteristic properties and the criterion of stability are presented.

Book Synopsis Low Reynolds number hydrodynamics by : J. Happel
Download or read book Low Reynolds number hydrodynamics written by J. Happel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One studying the motion of fluids relative to particulate systems is soon impressed by the dichotomy which exists between books covering theoretical and practical aspects. Classical hydrodynamics is largely concerned with perfect fluids which unfortunately exert no forces on the particles past which they move. Practical approaches to subjects like fluidization, sedimentation, and flow through porous media abound in much useful but uncorrelated empirical information. The present book represents an attempt to bridge this gap by providing at least the beginnings of a rational approach to fluid particle dynamics, based on first principles. From the pedagogic viewpoint it seems worthwhile to show that the Navier-Stokes equations, which form the basis of all systematic texts, can be employed for useful practical applications beyond the elementary problems of laminar flow in pipes and Stokes law for the motion of a single particle. Although a suspension may often be viewed as a continuum for practical purposes, it really consists of a discrete collection of particles immersed in an essentially continuous fluid. Consideration of the actual detailed boundary value problems posed by this viewpoint may serve to call attention to the limitation of idealizations which apply to the overall transport properties of a mixture of fluid and solid particles.
Download or read book Granular Dynamics written by Aibing Yu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this handbook is to provide a comprehensive summary of the field of Particle Science and Technology which includes most updated research findings and their applications in different industries. It is hoped that the consolidated knowledge described by this handbook will inspire more innovative ideas to bring the field forward. The size of the particles may range from nanometer scale, as in pigments or aerosols, to that of mined or quarried materials. The handbook will cover the topics ranging from the formation and synthesis, packing and flow, and application of these particles. Each part is explored in great details in different sections and chapters, it is written by a pool of international well known scholars, as well as industrial experts. The handbook fully reflects the state of the art in Particle Science and Technology

Book Synopsis Computational Techniques for Multiphase Flows by : Guan Heng Yeoh
Download or read book Computational Techniques for Multiphase Flows written by Guan Heng Yeoh and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-10-07 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mixed or multiphase flows of solid/liquid or solid/gas are commonly found in many industrial fields, and their behavior is complex and difficult to predict in many cases. The use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has emerged as a powerful tool for the understanding of fluid mechanics in multiphase reactors, which are widely used in the chemical, petroleum, mining, food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Computational Techniques for Multiphase Flows enables scientists and engineers to the undertand the basis and application of CFD in muliphase flow, explains how to use the technique, when to use it and how to interpret the results and apply them to improving aplications in process enginering and other multiphase application areas including the pumping, automotive and energy sectors. - Understandable guide to a complex subject - Important in many industries - Ideal for potential users of CFD
