Book Synopsis Cenozoic Foraminifera and Calcareous Nannofossil Biostratigraphy of the Niger Delta by : Oluwafeyisola Sylvester Adegoke
Download or read book Cenozoic Foraminifera and Calcareous Nannofossil Biostratigraphy of the Niger Delta written by Oluwafeyisola Sylvester Adegoke and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-11-25 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cenozoic Foraminifera and Calcareous Nannofossil Biostratigraphy of the Niger Delta is available just as exploration and production activities are moving into the little known deep water terrain of the Niger Delta. A thorough understanding of the Cenozoic Niger Delta will improve understanding and exploration of the evolution of deeper offshore belts, help researchers strengthen and refine existing Neogene nannofossil biostratigraphic schemes for the Niger Delta region, and gain a better understanding of the relationship between nannofossil assemblage variations and paleoenvironments. The hydrocarbon reserves of the Niger Delta are an extremely valuable natural resource. Biostratigraphy and Correlation play important roles in the discovery, development and maturing of hydrocarbon fields. Calcareous nannofossils have been important tools for the stratigraphers in the Niger Delta and in recent years exploration has moved into deeper offshore areas where nannofossils are more abundant and diverse. Little has been published about the calcareous nannofossil chronostratigraphy of the Niger delta. Cenozoic Foraminifera and Calcareous Nannofossil Biostratigraphy of the Niger Delta fills the gap for earth scientists and those working in the oil and gas industry. - Showcases the phylogenetic relationships of some of the principal Niger Delta marker species and their biostratigraphic and biochronologic significance - Features photographs of index benthonic foraminifera and their equivalent planktonic datums as well as environmentally sensitive species used in paleobathymetric reconstruction - Includes information and research that has, until now, been in the private archives of operational companies - Companion website features 20+ full color stratigraphic charts and maps
Book Synopsis Formal Methods for Components and Objects by : Bernhard Beckert
Download or read book Formal Methods for Components and Objects written by Bernhard Beckert and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-01-05 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Formal methods have been applied successfully to the verification of medium-sized programs in protocol and hardware design for some time. However, their application to the development of large systems requires more emphasis on specification, modeling, and validation techniques supporting the concepts of reusability and modifiability, and their implementation in new extensions of existing programming languages like Java. This book contains 20 revised papers submitted after the 10th Symposium on Formal Methods for Components and Objects, FMCO 2011, which was held in Turin, Italy, in October 2011. Topics covered include autonomic service-component ensembles; trustworthy eternal systems via evolving software, data, and knowledge; parallel patterns for adaptive heterogeneous multicore systems; programming for future 3D architectures with many cores; formal verification of object oriented software; and an infrastructure for reliable computer systems.
Book Synopsis Cold War Delta Prototypes by : Tony Buttler
Download or read book Cold War Delta Prototypes written by Tony Buttler and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-12-24 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the dawn of the supersonic jet age, aircraft designers were forced to devise radical new planforms that suited the new power of the jet engine. One of the most successful was the delta wing. Although Gloster produced the delta wing Javelin, and Boulton Paul –its P.111 research aircraft – Fairey and Avro were the champions of the delta in Britain. Meanwhile in America, with the exception of Douglas's Navy jet fighter programmes, Convair largely had the delta wing to itself. These development lines, one on each side of the Atlantic, had essentially the same objective – to produce high-speed fighter aircraft. In Britain, the Fairey Delta 2 went on to break the World Air Speed Record in spectacular fashion, but it failed to win a production order. In contrast Convair received major orders for two jet fighter types and one jet bomber. At the same time, the British Avro company built the 707 family of research aircraft, which led to the famous Vulcan, to show how the delta wing could be adopted for a highly successful subsonic bomber. This book examines the development of the delta wing in Britain and America, and the way in which experimental aircraft like the Fairey Deltas proved their potential and versatility. In Britain it covers the Fairey Delta 1 and Fairey Delta 2, the proposed Fairey Delta Rocket Fighter and huge Delta 3 long range interceptor, and the Avro 707. On the American side, it examines the Convair XF-92 and XF-92A, the development of the Delta Dagger/Delta Dart family, and the Convair Sea Dart – the world's only supersonic seaplane.

Book Synopsis Delta-4: A Generic Architecture for Dependable Distributed Computing by : David Powell
Download or read book Delta-4: A Generic Architecture for Dependable Distributed Computing written by David Powell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Delta-4 is a 5-nation, 13-partner project that has been investigating the achievement of dependability in open distributed systems, including real-time systems. This book describes the design and validation of the distributed fault-tolerant architecture developed within this project. The key features of the Delta-4 architecture are: (a) a distributed object-oriented application support environment; (b) built-in support for user-transparent fault tolerance; (c) use of multicast or group communication protocols; and (d) use of standard off the-shelf processors and standard local area network technology with minimum specialized hardware. The book is organized as follows: The first 3 chapters give an overview of the architecture's objectives and of the architecture itself, and compare the proposed solutions with other approaches. Chapters 4 to 12 give a more detailed insight into the Delta-4 architectural concepts. Chapters 4 and 5 are devoted to providing a firm set of general concepts and terminology regarding dependable and real-time computing. Chapter 6 is centred on fault-tolerance techniques based on distribution. The description of the architecture itself commences with a description of the Delta-4 application support environment (Deltase) in chapter 7. Two variants of the architecture - the Delta-4 Open System Architecture (OSA) and the Delta-4 Extra Performance Architecture (XPA) - are described respectively in chapters 8 and 9. Both variants of the architecture have a common underlying basis for dependable multicasting, i. e.

Download or read book Delta Functions written by R F Hoskins and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-03-31 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Delta Functions has now been updated, restructured and modernised into a second edition, to answer specific difficulties typically found by students encountering delta functions for the first time. In particular, the treatment of the Laplace transform has been revised with this in mind. The chapter on Schwartz distributions has been considerably extended and the book is supplemented by a fuller review of Nonstandard Analysis and a survey of alternative infinitesimal treatments of generalised functions. Dealing with a difficult subject in a simple and straightforward way, the text is readily accessible to a broad audience of scientists, mathematicians and engineers. It can be used as a working manual in its own right, and serves as a preparation for the study of more advanced treatises. Little more than a standard background in calculus is assumed, and attention is focused on techniques, with a liberal selection of worked examples and exercises. - Second edition has been updated, restructured and modernised to answer specific difficulties typically found by students encountering delta functions for the first time - Attention is focused on techniques, with a liberal selection of worked examples and exercises - Readily accessible to a broad audience of scientists, mathematicians and engineers and can be used as a working manual in its own right
