This book was released on 2009-11-24 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Access to oral health services is a problem for all segments of the U.S. population, and especially problematic for vulnerable populations, such as rural and underserved populations. The many challenges to improving access to oral health services include the lack of coordination and integration among the oral health, public health, and medical health care systems; misaligned payment and education systems that focus on the treatment of dental disease rather than prevention; the lack of a robust evidence base for many dental procedures and workforce models; and regulatory barriers that prevent the exploration of alternative models of care. This volume, the summary of a three-day workshop, evaluates the sufficiency of the U.S. oral health workforce to consider three key questions: What is the current status of access to oral health services for the U.S. population? What workforce strategies hold promise to improve access to oral health services? How can policy makers, state and federal governments, and oral health care providers and practitioners improve the regulations and structure of the oral health care system to improve access to oral health services?

Download or read book Development of a Dental Satisfaction Questionnaire for the Health Insurance Experiment written by Allyson Ross Davies and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describes the development of a Dental Satisfaction Questionnaire (DSQ) for use in the Health Insurance Experiment (HIE) and evaluates, against standard psychometric criteria, how well the DSQ met the goals outlined for its development and usefulness to the HIE. Scaling analyses resulted in construction of nine dental satisfaction measures: Access, Availability/Convenience, Cost, Pain Management, Quality, Continuity, General Satisfaction, Access Total, and an overall Dental Satisfaction Index. Results support scale reliability and validity, and use of the DSQ in general population studies that tap patients' opinions about dental care. The report provides scale scoring rules, and suggests areas for further research on the dental satisfaction concept and on the distinction between dental and medical satisfaction.

Book excerpt: The Psychology of the Dentist-Patient Relationship acquaints dentists with the underlying interpersonal dynamics of their professional work. The author has reviewed the dental and psychological literature about the behavior of dentists and their patients, and used this evidence to evaluate critically the various theoretical models of the dentist-patient relationship. A major aim of this book is to show how the application of soundly based psychological theory and practice can improve patient management, reduce the stress of practicing dentistry, and contribute to the design of effective community dental health campaigns.

Book Synopsis Assuring the Quality of Health Care in the European Union by : Helena Legido-Quigley
Download or read book Assuring the Quality of Health Care in the European Union written by Helena Legido-Quigley and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2008 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People have always travelled within Europe for work and leisure, although never before with the current intensity. Now, however, they are travelling for many other reasons, including the quest for key services such as health care. Whatever the reason for travelling, one question they ask is "If I fall ill, will the health care I receive be of a high standard?" This book examines, for the first time, the systems that have been put in place in all of the European Union's 27 Member States. The picture it paints is mixed. Some have well developed systems, setting standards based on the best available evidence, monitoring the care provided, and taking action where it falls short. Others need to overcome significant obstacles.
