Book excerpt: "This questionnaire study, a follow-up of 202 graduates of Middlesex Valley Central School, located in Rushville, New York, has been conducted to find the answer to two specific problems. First, Guidance has been in operation at Rushville on a part-time basis since 1947. In the past two years, however, the high school enrollment has risen to a point where it is virtually impossible to carry on an effective program in the time alloted to it. If the program is to continue, either more time must be allowed for it, or it must be curtailed in its scope. The latter course seems most undesirable in an era during which the majority of New York State schools are expanding their guidance facilities. The first question to be answered, then, is: What improvements and extensions are needed in the guidance program in M.V.C.S? Second, another outgrowth of increased enrollment is that the school must expand all its facilities. This study plus other available information should give some indication as to what type of school development most former graduates believe to be most valuable to the community in which the school is located. The second question which this study seeks to answer is: What curricular changes do former M.V.C.S. graduates believe would be of profit to future students?"--Leaf 1.
