Book Synopsis Selectivities in Lewis Acid Promoted Reactions by : Dieter Schinzer
Download or read book Selectivities in Lewis Acid Promoted Reactions written by Dieter Schinzer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ASI workshop on "Selectivities in Lewis Acid Promoted Reactions" held in the Emmantina-Hotel in Athens-Glyfada, Greece, October 2-7, 1988 was held to bring some light into the darkness of Lewis acid induced processes. As such the workshop reflects some current trends in organic synthesis, where Lewis acids are becoming a powerful tool in many different modern reactions, e.g. Diels-Alder reactions, Ene reactions, Sakurai reactions, and in general silicon and tin chemistry. The objective of this meeting was to bring together most of the world experts in the field to discuss the major reactions promoted by Lewis acids. Organic synthesis will play a major role in this book connected with some fundamental mechanistic work on allylsilane and -tin chemistry. Both natural product synthesis and unnatural molecules are presented in the chapters. The book presents all the 15 invited lectures and the contributions of 15 posters. I am confident that the material presented in this book will stimulate the chemistry, which has been discussed on our meeting, around the world. The meeting and the book were only possible through a grant of the NATO Scientific Affairs Devision and financial support by the following companies: Kali Chemie (Hannover, W-Germany), E. Merck (Darmstadt, W-Germany), Sandoz (Basel, Switzerland), Schering (Berlin, W-Germany).

Book Synopsis Side Reactions in Organic Synthesis II by : Florencio Zaragoza Dörwald
Download or read book Side Reactions in Organic Synthesis II written by Florencio Zaragoza Dörwald and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-06-23 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new textbook is the successor to the volume "Side Reactions in Organic Synthesis - A Guide to Successful Synthesis Design" (2004), written by the same author. Whereas the predecessor mainly covered the limitations of aliphatic substitution reactions, this new volume focuses on the most important aromatic substitution reactions, both electrophilic and nucleophilic, such as amination reactions, halogenation reactions, Friedel-Crafts acylations, or transition metal-catalyzed arylation reactions. Each chapter not only describes the scope of a specific reaction type, but also reveals what cannot be achieved with this reaction, i.e. what type of side reactions are to be expected with certain starting materials or electrophiles/nucleophiles. With its unique approach, this is a must-have book for graduate students in organic chemistry and synthetic chemists both in academia and industry!
Book Synopsis Green Approaches in Medicinal Chemistry for Sustainable Drug Design by : Bimal Banik
Download or read book Green Approaches in Medicinal Chemistry for Sustainable Drug Design written by Bimal Banik and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-03-27 with total page 1046 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extensive experimentation and high failure rates are a well-recognised downside to the drug discovery process, with the resultant high levels of inefficiency and waste producing a negative environmental impact. Sustainable and Green Approaches in Medicinal Chemistry reveals how medicinal and green chemistry can work together to directly address this issue. After providing essential context to the growth of green chemistry in relation to drug discovery in Part 1, the book goes on to identify a broad range of practical methods and synthesis techniques in Part 2. Part 3 reveals how medicinal chemistry techniques can be used to improve efficiency, mitigate failure and increase the environmental benignity of the entire drug discovery process, whilst Parts 4 and 5 discuss natural products and microwave-induced chemistry. Finally, the role of computers in drug discovery is explored in Part 6. - Identifies novel and cost effective green medicinal chemistry approaches for improved efficiency and sustainability - Reflects on techniques for a broad range of compounds and materials - Highlights sustainable and green chemistry pathways for molecular synthesis
