Download or read book Hypersonic Flow Research written by F.R. Riddell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 769 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Astronautics and Rocketry, Volume 7: Hypersonic Flow Research compiles papers presented at a conference on hypersonics held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in August 1961. This book discusses the low Reynolds number effects, chemical kinetics effects, inviscid flow calculations, and experimental techniques relating to the problems in acquiring an understanding of hypersonic flow. The structure and composition of hypersonic wakes with attendant complex chemical kinetic effects is only briefly mentioned. This text consists of five parts. Parts A to C comprise of theoretical papers on the problems of calculating flow fields at hypersonic speeds. The experimental techniques that are of immediate practical interest in view of the difficulty of flight testing are discussed in Parts D and E. This publication is beneficial to engineers involved in advanced design problems.

Book Synopsis On the Similar Solutions of Strong Blast-waves and Their Application to Steady Hypersonic Flow by : Eric François Brocher
Download or read book On the Similar Solutions of Strong Blast-waves and Their Application to Steady Hypersonic Flow written by Eric François Brocher and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The exact 'constant-energy' solution of strong blast waves is expanded in powers of the density ratio across the shock wave; physical quantities are expressed directly as functions of the similitude parameter. The range of validity for t.;e application of this solution to hypersonic flow is then studied as a function of the density ratio. The general similar solution of the strong blast wave is found in the Newtonian approximation. The results are applied to power-law bodies in hypersonic flow using the equivalence principle. The pressure distribution on slender bodies of arbitrary shape is obtained and agrees with the Newton-Busemann pressure formula. Higher-order approximations are derived for the cases in which the shock layer is thin. A simple pressure formula is obtained and some of its applications are shown. (Author).

Book Synopsis Difference Methods for Initial-Boundary-Value Problems and Flow Around Bodies by : You-lan Zhu
Download or read book Difference Methods for Initial-Boundary-Value Problems and Flow Around Bodies written by You-lan Zhu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the appearance of computers, numerical methods for discontinuous solutions of quasi-linear hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations have been among the most important research subjects in numerical analysis. The authors have developed a new difference method (named the singularity-separating method) for quasi-linear hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations. Its most important feature is that it possesses a high accuracy even for problems with singularities such as schocks, contact discontinuities, rarefaction waves and detonations. Besides the thorough description of the method itself, its mathematical foundation (stability-convergence theory of difference schemes for initial-boundary-value hyperbolic problems) and its application to supersonic flow around bodies are discussed. Further, the method of lines and its application to blunt body problems and conical flow problems are described in detail. This book should soon be an important working basis for both graduate students and researchers in the field of partial differential equations as well as in mathematical physics.

Download or read book The High Temperature Aspects of Hypersonic Flow written by Wilbur C. Nelson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-12-02 with total page 801 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The High Temperature Aspects of Hypersonic Flow is a record of the proceedings of the AGARD-NATO Specialists' Meeting, held at the Technical Centre for Experimental Aerodynamics, Rhode-Saint-Genese, Belgium in April 1962. The book contains the papers presented during the meeting that tackled a broad range of topics in the aspects of hypersonic flow. The subjects covered during the meeting include pressure measurements, interference effects, the use of wind tunnels in aircraft development testing, high temperature gas characteristics, boundary layer research, stability and control and the use of rocket vehicles in flight research. Aerospace engineers and aeronautical engineers will find the book invaluable.
