Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On July 6, 2013, Father Mina Abood was martyred. In this book, you will follow along the mere thirty-eight-year-long journey spent by this honored presbyter on the earth. It begins with his early life and humble beginnings as a servant in his home-city of Aswan, and later in the suburbs of bustling Cairo. It then proceeds to describe his mysterious call to the priesthood in war-torn Sinai. The compelling story culminates in a valorous witness to the Christian faith, and a brutal, yet triumphant, martyrdom. But the story does not end there, as you become acquainted with the esteem that the Lord God holds for His martyrs, manifested in the events following Father Mina's death. The hope is that all may be encouraged to model the resilient faith of this contemporary martyr, who persistently emphasized, "My true home is in heaven."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This gripping book tells the largely unknown story of longtime Russian dissident Alexander Ogorodnikov -- from Communist youth to religious dissident, in the Gulag and back again. Ogorodnikov's courage has touched people from every walk of life, including world leaders such as Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and Margaret Thatcher. In the 1970s Ogorodnikov performed a feat without precedent in the Soviet Union: he organized thousands of Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic Christians in an underground group called the Christian Seminar. When the KGB gave him the option to leave the Soviet Union rather than face the Gulag, he firmly declined because he wanted to change "his" Russia from the inside out. His willingness to sacrifice himself and be imprisoned meant leaving behind his wife and newborn child. Ogorodnikov spent nine years in the Gulag, barely surviving the horrors he encountered there. Despite KGB harassment and persecution after his release, he refused to compromise his convictions and went on to found the first free school in the Soviet Union, the first soup kitchen, and the first private shelter for orphans, among other accomplishments. Today this man continues to carry on his struggle against government detainments and atrocities, often alone. Readers will be amazed and inspired by Koenraad De Wolf's authoritative account of Ogorodnikov's life and work.

Book excerpt: The book is a compilation of his works. You will find yourself falling in love with the richness of LePera's reservoir of words and the artfulness of classic English prose. The five titles within the book explore themes that are amusing and at the same time enlightening. LePera's work can be compared to the great authors of the 16th Century, and the touch of contemporary literature sets it apart, making it an exciting read. His works are also infused with a tasteful amount of humor. Above all, its best feature is the fact that the book can certainly be a study subject for English-related courses.

Book excerpt: Heaven is the aim of all mankind. Our hearts long to attain it. We fervently hope to possess it. We struggle to reach it and be blessed by it. Contemplation on the glories of heaven and what awaits its saints gives those who struggle for it a spiritual push forward and makes them forget all their toils. In this English translation of the classic book, "Heaven," originally written in Arabic and derived from a series of sermons by His Grace Bishop Youannis of the Coptic Orthodox Church, The Late Bishop of Gharbia, Egypt and its Suburbs, we find answers to many common questions about heaven: Who has the right to be blessed by the eternal glory in heaven? Will God continue to be merciful as people know Him to be? Will God allow everyone, without any expectations, to enter heaven? What will people do in heaven? Will the saints go straight to heaven after they leave their bodies? What happens after man dies? Will Christ truly come indeed a second time? What will He do?

Book excerpt: This play was first produced by Stanislavsky in Moscow in 1909. It treats one 'David', who inherits a fortune and sets out to relieve the suffering of the world. Vast crowds gather round him, their sense of their own hardship intensified. When his resources are exhausted and he can do no more for them, they turn against him, and finally stone him to death. He is manipulated throughout by 'Anathema', a Satanic figure who wishes to have something to strengthen his case against God the Creator. But when he challenges an angel at the heavenly gates, the angel replies that good and evil on earth cannot be measured: the goodness that David represents has a value that is incomparable and transcendent. The play excited lively debate in the Russian Orthodox Church at the time, between those who condemned it as an attack on Christianity and those who praised it as a vindication of Christianity. Further performances were finally banned after intervention by Tsar Nicholas II, whose piety was equal to his stupidity. Apart from its theology, the play has the great merit of presenting two chief characters, David and Anathema, who are subtle and arresting figures that, in the first production, gave great actors real scope.

Book excerpt: From the popularity of cable television shows concerning building choppers or the criminal aspects of the motorcycle gang lifestyle, to the phenomenal success of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, no one can deny America has become fascinated with bikers and the machines they love. Author Dave Spurgeon provides a firsthand look into the world of the Harley enthusiast and beyond. He takes you to where few have dared to tread—into the sinister, and often misunderstood, reality of the true one-percenters. He takes you on a ride into a place about which many are curious, but few know well. Be advised: This is not the exhaustive work of an investigative reporter, nor an account of the zealous efforts of an undercover law enforcement operation. This is the personal chronicle of Spurgeon’s 15 years in the fast lane. Sobering, sometimes humorous, yet always painfully accurate, it begins with his love affair with the motorcycle and then continues into the ominous 1%er Brotherhood of the bike gang culture in America. You will be educated, entertained, warned, and enlightened by this brutally honest narrative from a man who has been there and back and lived to tell about it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were brutally murdered at her home on Bundy Drive in Brentwood, California, on the night of June 12, 1994. The days and weeks that followed were full of spectacle, including a much-watched car chase and the eventual arrest of O. J. Simpson for the murders. The televised trial that followed was unlike any that the nation had ever seen. Long since convinced of O. J.’s guilt, the world was shocked when the jury of the “trial of the century” read the verdict of not guilty. To this day, the LAPD, Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, mainstream media, and much of the world at large remain firmly convinced that O. J. Simpson got away with murder. According to private investigator William Dear, it is precisely this assuredness that has led both the police and public to overlook a far more likely suspect. Dear now compiles more than seventeen years of investigation by his team of forensic experts and presents evidence that O. J. was not the killer. In O. J. Is Innocent and I Can Prove It, Dear makes the controversial, but compelling, case that it may have been the “overlooked suspect,” O. J.’s eldest son, Jason, who committed the grisly murders. Sure to stir the pot and raise some eyebrows, this book is a must-read.
