Book excerpt: This study examines the health of communities in northern Saskatchewan prior to and since the advent of uranium mining. The authors reviewed the extensive body of available literature, visited with several communities in northern Saskatchewan, and met with tribal council officials, officers of uranium mining companies, and professionals in the medical and social fields. The report does not find a relationship between exposure to radon in a uranium mine or seepage of mine wastes into a waterbody and particular health consequences. The report does provide a very good overview of Aboriginal health in northern Saskatchewan.
