Book Synopsis Itinerari di storia sociale dell’educazione occidentale - Volume Secondo by : Rita Minello
Download or read book Itinerari di storia sociale dell’educazione occidentale - Volume Secondo written by Rita Minello and published by Edizioni Nuova Cultura. This book was released on 2014-03-05 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Teacher Education and the Development of Democratic Citizenship in Europe by : Andrea Raiker
Download or read book Teacher Education and the Development of Democratic Citizenship in Europe written by Andrea Raiker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses international collaboration between nine European countries to explore how teacher education systems across Europe perceive and act upon devolving democracy and democratic citizenship. Understanding these countries’ cultural approaches to individual and national priorities in education is essential in perceiving similarities and differences in the meaning of ‘democracy’. The book offers debate on the prospects for teacher education and the development of democratic citizenship in Europe based on historical, political, economic and cultural contexts and the Council of Europe’s (CoE) competences for democratic citizenship. With critical analysis and evaluation around the common theme of teacher education and its role in developing democratic citizenship, the book provides awareness and understanding of how teacher education responds to the Council of Europe’s (CoE) conceptual model of competences for democratic culture. 20 competences categorized as Values, Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge and Critical Understanding are defined so they can be taught to enable learners to practice them in their daily lives as democratic citizens. This book will be of key interest to academics, researchers and post-graduate students in the fields of teacher education, educational policy and politics, and citizenship education.
Book Synopsis The Rise and Fall of the Italian Communist Party by : Silvio Pons
Download or read book The Rise and Fall of the Italian Communist Party written by Silvio Pons and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2024-10-01 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reassesses the history of Italian communism in international perspective. Analyzing the rise and fall of the Italian Communist Party as a case study in the global history of communism, Silvio Pons considers a wide range of relational and temporal contexts, from the practices of internationalism to the training of militants and leaders, and to networks established not only in Europe but also in the colonial and postcolonial world. Pons focuses on the attempts of the Italian Communist Party to forge an intellectually defensible party program that combined the international demands of Moscow with the Italians' attempts to develop their own foreign and domestic policies according to their own political circumstances. Following three leaders of the Italian Communist Party (Antonio Gramsci, Palmiro Togliatti, and Enrico Berlinguer) from the First World War to the fall of the Soviet Union, Silvio Pons considers the broader relationship between communism and Cold War history, the history of decolonization, and the rise of "Europe" as a political category.

Book Synopsis Mafia and Antimafia by : Umberto Santino
Download or read book Mafia and Antimafia written by Umberto Santino and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-07-23 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mafia is the impenetrable and seemingly infallible embodiment of notoriety and criminality. Umberto Santino, one of Italy's leading mafia experts, here provides a new perspective on the mafia: as a polymorphic organization which encompasses crime, the accumulation of corruptly acquired wealth and power, the cultural code of omerta and consensus. Exploring the movements which strive to fight against the powers of the mafia, such as the campaigns of civil society organizations like the Centro siciliano di documentazione, the author also provides a fresh look at the mechanisms - and struggles - of the antimafia movement.

Book Synopsis Qualitative and Quantitative Models in Socio-Economic Systems and Social Work by : José Luis Sarasola Sánchez-Serrano
Download or read book Qualitative and Quantitative Models in Socio-Economic Systems and Social Work written by José Luis Sarasola Sánchez-Serrano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-06-21 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this book is not only to present recent studies and advances in the field of social science research, but also to stimulate discussion on related practical issues concerning statistics, mathematics, and economics. Accordingly, a broad range of tools and techniques that can be used to solve problems on these topics are presented in detail in this book, which offers an ideal reference work for all researchers interested in effective quantitative and qualitative tools. The content is divided into three major sections. The first, which is titled “Social work”, collects papers on problems related to the social sciences, e.g. social cohesion, health, and digital technologies. Papers in the second part, “Education and teaching issues,” address qualitative aspects, education, learning, violence, diversity, disability, and ageing, while the book’s final part, “Recent trends in qualitative and quantitative models for socio-economic systems and social work”, features contributions on both qualitative and quantitative issues. The book is based on a scientific collaboration, in the social sciences, mathematics, statistics, and economics, among experts from the “Pablo de Olavide” University of Seville (Spain), the “University of Defence” of Brno (Czech Republic), the “G. D’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy) and “Alexandru Ioan Cuza University” of Iaşi (Romania). The contributions, which have been selected using a peer-review process, examine a wide variety of topics related to the social sciences in general, while also highlighting new and intriguing empirical research conducted in various countries. Given its scope, the book will appeal, in equal measure, to sociologists, mathematicians, statisticians and philosophers, and more generally to scholars and specialists in related fields.
