Book Synopsis Homeopathy in Healthcare by : Gudrun Bornhöft
Download or read book Homeopathy in Healthcare written by Gudrun Bornhöft and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-12-09 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes the full Health Technology Assessment (HTA) report on effectiveness, appropriateness, safety and costs of homoeopathy in health care. The report was commissioned by the Swiss health authorities to inform decision-making on the further inclusion of homoeopathy in the list of services covered by statutory health insurance. Other studies carried out as part of the Swiss Complementary Medicine Evaluation Programme (PEK) caused a massive stir due to their schematic and exclusively quantitative (negative-)outcomes for homoeopathy. The present report, in contrast, offers a differentiated evaluation of the practice of homoeopathy in health care. It confirms homoeopathy as a valuable addition to the conventional medical landscape – a status it has been holding for a long time in practical health care.

Book Synopsis Crop Protection in Medieval Agriculture by : Jan C. Zadoks
Download or read book Crop Protection in Medieval Agriculture written by Jan C. Zadoks and published by Sidestone Press. This book was released on 2013-10-16 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mediterranean and West European pre-modern agriculture (agriculture before 1600) was by necessity ‘organic agriculture’. Crop protection is part and parcel of this agriculture, with weed control in the forefront. Crop protection is embedded in the medieval agronomy text books but specialised sections do occur. Weeds, insects and diseases are described but identification in modern terms is not easy. The pre-modern ‘Crop Portfolio’ is well filled, certainly in the Mediterranean area. The medieval ‘Pest Portfolio’ differs from the modern one because agriculture then was a Low External Input Agriculture, and because the proportion of cultivated to non-cultivated land was drastically lower than today. The pre-modern ‘Control Portfolio’ is surprisingly rich, both in preventive and interventive measures. Prevention was by risk management, intensive tillage, and careful storage. Intervention was mechanical and chemical. Chemical intervention used natural substances such as sulphur, pitch, and ‘botanicals’. Some fifty plant species are mentioned in a crop protection context. Though application methods look rather modern they are typically low-tech. Among them are seed disinfection, spraying, dusting, fumigation, grease banding, wound care, and hand-picking but also scarification, now outdated. The reality of pest outbreaks and other damages is explored as to frequency, intensity, and extent. Information on the practical use of the recommended treatments is scanty. If applied, their effectiveness remains enigmatic. Three medieval agronomists are at the heart of this book, but historical developments in crop protection from early Punic, Greek, and Roman authors to the first modern author are outlined. The readership of these writers was the privileged class of landowners but hints pointing to the exchange of ideas between them and the common peasant were found. Consideration is given to the pre-modern reasoning in matters of crop protection. Comparison of pre-modern crop protection and its counterpart in modern organic agriculture is difficult because of drastic changes in the relation between crop areas and non-crop areas, and because of the great difference in yield levels then and now, with several associated differences.

Book excerpt: Ozone is an essential element of life and Anne Vervarcke's book, Behind the Glass Screen: A Homeopathic Survey of Ozone, is an essential tool for finding Ozone cases in your practice. The extensive research of the substance, Anne Schadde s proving, and clearly analyzed cases using the Sensation Method make this remedy easy to identify and prescribe. This book is a must-have Materia Medica for your library. Burch, Melissa, CCH, RsHom(NA) The book ozone is like a complete capsule of information about the_x000D_ source as well as the clinical side of ozone. Anne is a good friend and a sensitive homeopath. We hope her hard work helps many readers to pick Ozone cases. They shall now be easy to recognize and not so elusive and distant like the gas itself. Bhawisha & Joshi, Shachindra This book is about ozone, ozone and ozone. There are three stages to this lucid and compelling book. There is the introduction to ozone in the world and in the environment, setting the stage, and then there is a magnificently crafted materia medica picture drawing upon the proving by Anne Shadde and related materia medica as the centrepiece, and then there is a series of compelling cases to illustrate the remedy used in reality. All this is within the modern context of the vital sensation which is reviewed sufficiently so there was a clear framework. By reading this book, you will have both an enjoyable read, and you will be able to introduce ozone into your practice and fill one huge gap in materia medica that has been missing for far too long. Chappell, Peter, FSHom This book is a welcome addition for homeopaths. It confirms the Periodic system analysis and the provings of Ozone. The central role of Oxygen in our Earth system and in the global warming makes this book very interesting. Scholten, Jan Anne Vervarcke s book Ozone draws on a wide range of resources. She gives a clear chemical understanding of both Ozone and Oxygenium, and weaves together the ideas, hypothesis, insights and intelligence of many modern homeopaths. The book is crowned by Eight Ozone and three Oxygenium cases, many from her own practice, and her method, the AV Method of anamnesis and analysis is explained and used throughout. If you want to understand Ozone, one of the most undervalued remedies of our time, this is the book that says it all.
Book Synopsis Transdisciplinarity and Translationality in High Dilution Research by : Leoni Bonamin
Download or read book Transdisciplinarity and Translationality in High Dilution Research written by Leoni Bonamin and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While evidence for the biological effects of high dilutions (above Avogadro’s number) has been extensively documented since the 1980s, it seems to remain invisible to part of the global scientific community. This book provides investigators and other interested readers with direct access to the latest research, conducted between 2009 and 2019, by members of the Groupe International de Recherche sur l’Infinitésimal, the first international scientific society devoted to scientific studies of high dilutions. As shown here, the state of the art in high dilution research allows answering with a sound, evidence-based “no” to the question “Is homeopathy really that implausible?” Therefore this book is an essential contribution to the ongoing debate on complementary and alternative medicine, much-needed by practitioners, patients, and governments in the formulation of healthcare policies.
