A cleverly worded and illustrated picture book, this is the adult parody of the beloved children’s cautionary tale, If You Give a Pig a Pancake. Watch in dismay as the presidential pig gets into trouble, binges on too much Fox News and fast food, and cavalierly threatens national security. If You Give a Pig the White House both lovingly caricatures the original children's book series and shows just what can happen when a greedy anti-hero tracks his hooves all over America.

Roosevelt. Secret Service agents, family, and old sailing pals share stories about their days on the water with America’s greatest seafaring president. The author argues that the skills required to be a good sailor are the same skills that made FDR a successful politician: the ability to alter courses, make compromises, and shift positions as the situation warrants. This perspective on Roosevelt shows how his love of the sea shaped his presidency, and its unique look remains refreshing even today.

Book excerpt: New York Times Bestseller • From a former White House speechwriter comes a deliciously candid memoir about official Washington—a laugh-out-loud cri de coeur that shows what can happen to idealism in a town driven by self-interest. “[An] entertaining book about what goes on—or doesn’t—in Washington.” —American Spectator Despite being raised by reliably liberal parents, Matt Latimer is lured by the upbeat themes of the Reagan Revolution and, in the tradition of Mary Tyler Moore, sets off from the Midwest for the big city. Determined to “make it after all,” Matt daydreams of eradicating do-nothing boondoggleism and leading America to new heights of greatness. But first he has to find a job. Like an inside-the-Beltway Dante, Matt descends into Washington, D.C., hell, and snares a series of increasingly lofty—but unsatisfying—jobs with powerful figures on Capitol Hill. When Fate offers Matt a job as chief speechwriter for Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Matt finds he actually admires the man (causing his liberal friends to shake their heads in dismay), his youthful passion is renewed. But Rummy soon becomes a piñata for the press, and the Department of Defense is revealed as alarmingly dysfunctional. Eventually, Matt lands at the White House, his heart aflutter with the hope that, here at last, he can fulfill his dream of penning words that will become part of history—and maybe pick up some cool souvenirs. But reality intrudes once again. More like The Office than The West Wing, the nation’s most storied office building is run by staffers who are in way over their heads, and almost everything the public has been told about the major players—Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Rove—is wrong. Both a rare behind-the-scenes account that boldly names the fools and scoundrels, and a poignant lament for the principled conservatism that disappeared during the Bush presidency, Speech-less will forever change the public’s view of our nation’s capital and the people who joust daily for its power. Praise for Speech-less “Deft, surprising, darned entertaining.” —Christopher Buckley "It's a good read… quite frankly, the stories are funny!" —Pat Buchanan

Book excerpt: What makes this book worth reprinting is not the canine dogs described in this book but the human female kinds of dogs, the women who slept with the presidents who were not necessarily the wives. This book, nearly forgotten, was the first to reveal numerous presidential affairs. It was the first to report that President Kennedy had an insatiable appetite for women, the human kind. It was the original source for a story that has been repeated many times since. This story is found on page 38 of this book. The story goes: Jacqueline was in the presidential bed in the White House bedroom, when she discovered a woman's panties in between the sheets. She held up the panties she had found with two fingers in much the same way that she would hold up a dead mouse and she said to the president, "Would you please find out whose these are, because they are not my size?" It is a fact that every president in more than one hundred years has had a dog, with the exception of President Clinton, who had a cat, although even Clinton did finally get a dog near the end of his term. Not all of these presidents were dog lovers. In some cases, the President obviously got a dog just to get the Dog Lover's Vote. President Obama must have read this book, because when he was elected to office, he knew that the first thing he had to do was get a dog. This book starts with the punch line to a joke: "This book is dedicated to man's best friend - women."

White, beloved author of Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, written by Barbara Herkert and illustrated by Caldecott honoree Lauren Castillo. When young Elwyn White lay in bed as a sickly child, a bold house mouse befriended him. When the time came for kindergarten, an anxious Elwyn longed for the farm, where animal friends awaited him at the end of each day. Propelled by his fascination with the outside world, he began to jot down his reflections in a journal. Writing filled him with joy, and words became his world. Today, Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web are beloved classics of children’s literature, and E. B. White is recognized as one of the finest American writers of all time. A Christy Ottaviano Book
