The particular aim of the book, however, is more specific. In any course and in any textbook there must be some concern for individual differences in students differences in training, in ability, and in personality. This need of basic standardization we have attempted to meet in Part I, which includes those fundamentals of organization, paragraph structure, and sentence structure that every writer must command before clear communication is possible. Part I is addressed primarily to the average student. Part II deals with the various special kinds of writing which most students will at one time or another have to do.
