This book was released on 2020-02-21 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication presents a set of training standards and conditions, based on the internationally accepted systematic approach to training (SAT) methodology, which can be used by any nuclear facility to objectively evaluate the quality of its training, learning and development infrastructure, processes and programmes. It offers guidance and options for peer review processes, including IAEA assistance, and guidance on creating independent validation bodies, although the main focus is the self-assessment methodology as this is key to self-awareness and improvement. The use of SAT offers significant advantages over more conventional, curricula-driven training in terms of consistency, efficiency and management control, leading to greater reliability of training results and enhanced safety and efficiency of the plant.
Book Synopsis Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel: Processes, Methodology and Practices by : IAEA
Download or read book Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel: Processes, Methodology and Practices written by IAEA and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Training is an important tool to achieve and maintain the required competence of personnel working in nuclear facilities. Effective training and qualification of personnel are necessary for the achievement of high safety and efficiency standards in nuclear facility performance. Training and qualification combined is a key feature of the integrated management systems of nuclear facilities. It is these considerations that led to this publication which consolidates the experience gained worldwide using the systematic approach to training (SAT) for nuclear facility personnel. It provides a basis for establishing and sustaining the quality and reliability of training and qualification for all main categories of nuclear facility personnel. SAT has proved its effectiveness in nuclear and other safety critical industries over decades and is recognized as the best international practice in nuclear training. The publication details the processes and methodology, presents good practices and offers recommendations from the experts in the field on the entire set of activities within the SAT–based training methodology and provides examples of SAT application. It builds on, and supersedes, guidance provided in an earlier IAEA publication (Technical Report Series 380, Nuclear Power Plant Personnel Training and its Evaluation: A Guidebook). A key feature of this publication is demonstrating how SAT–based training serves as one of the important processes in a nuclear facility management system and how it integrates with other processes.

This book was released on 1995 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Training of station personnel is an important component of the safe operation of a nuclear generating station, and on-the-job (or field) training is an important part of that training. This report describes a recommended process for assessing the effectiveness of field training of nuclear plant operators, and presents the results of the second assessment at Bruce Nuclear Generating Station A. The assessment process includes a review of corporate policies and guidelines, a review of station and training department policies and procedures, field observations of job tasks by qualified operators for comparison with station requirements and industry guidelines and practices, field observations of the implementation of the field training program, interviews with station and training personnel, follow-up of reviews of station documentation, and identification of program and implementation strengths and weaknesses.

Download or read book Evaluation of Training Programs and Entry-level Qualifications for Nuclear-power-plant Control-room Personnel Based on the Systems Approach to Training written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes results of research sponsored by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to initiate the use of the Systems Approach to Training in the evaluation of training programs and entry level qualifications for nuclear power plant (NPP) personnel. Variables (performance shaping factors) of potential importance to personnel selection and training are identified, and research to more rigorously define an operationally useful taxonomy of those variables is recommended. A high-level model of the Systems Approach to Training for use in the nuclear industry, which could serve as a model for NRC evaluation of industry programs, is presented. The model is consistent with current publically stated NRC policy, with the approach being followed by the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations, and with current training technology. Checklists to be used by NRC evaluators to assess training programs for NPP control-room personnel are proposed which are based on this model.
