Book Synopsis Applied Regression Including Computing and Graphics by : R. Dennis Cook
Download or read book Applied Regression Including Computing and Graphics written by R. Dennis Cook and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-25 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A step-by-step guide to computing and graphics in regression analysis In this unique book, leading statisticians Dennis Cook and Sanford Weisberg expertly blend regression fundamentals and cutting-edge graphical techniques. They combine and up- date most of the material from their widely used earlier work, An Introduction to Regression Graphics, and Weisberg's Applied Linear Regression; incorporate the latest in statistical graphics, computing, and regression models; and wind up with a modern, fully integrated approach to one of the most important tools of data analysis. In 23 concise, easy-to-digest chapters, the authors present:? A wealth of simple 2D and 3D graphical techniques, helping visualize results through graphs * An improved version of the user-friendly Arc software, which lets readers promptly implement new ideas * Complete coverage of regression models, including logistic regression and generalized linear models * More than 300 figures, easily reproducible on the computer * Numerous examples and problems based on real data * A companion Web site featuring free software and advice, available at www.wiley.com/mathem atics Accessible, self-contained, and fully referenced, Applied Regression Including Computing and Graphics assumes only a first course in basic statistical methods and provides a bona fide user manual for the Arc software. It is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in learning how to analyze regression problems with confidence and depth.
Book Synopsis Modelling Potential Crop Growth Processes by : J. Goudriaan
Download or read book Modelling Potential Crop Growth Processes written by J. Goudriaan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We dedicate this book to professor C. T. de Wit (1924 - 1993) who initiated Production Ecology as a school of thought at the Wageningen Agricultural Univer sity (see Rabbinge et at. , 1990). To acknowledge the leading role of C. T. de Wit, a recently formed graduate school at this university in Production Ecology was named after him. Production Ecology is the study of ecological processes, with special attention to flows of energy and matter as factors that determine the productivity of ecological systems. Agro-ecosystems are a special case of ecosystems which are much better suited for the productivity approach than natural ecosystems are. This is the reason for the strong role of agricultural research in production ecology. On the other hand, it must be recognized that the spatial heterogeneity of natural ecosys tems and their species richness may alter some ecophysiological relationships. However, the basic physical, chemical and physiological processes will be the same. De Wit introduced the state variable approach as the basis for simulation mod elling. In this approach the floating character of nature is schematized into a series of snapshots over time in which the states are frozen at each separate moment. The current state determines how the rates of change will lead to the next snapshot. This way of thinking enables a clear and workable representation of interacting simul taneous processes, without compromising on the mathematics.
Book Synopsis Dairy Goats Feeding and Nutrition by : Antonello Cannas
Download or read book Dairy Goats Feeding and Nutrition written by Antonello Cannas and published by CABI. This book was released on 2008 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dairy goats have long been considered an important source of income for rural populations, providing the opportunity for profitable and sustainable diversity for small farms. Their importance is also increasing in intensive feeding systems and in large farms. They are highly adaptable due to their unique feeding habits and have become popular livestock animals in a range of environments, from temperate grasslands to subtropical, semi-arid and mountainous areas. Moreover, goat milk products are finding a growing acceptance in the world market and research has increased in feeding strategies for improved productivity and quality. Examining all aspects of dairy goat feeding and nutrition, this book represents a long awaited review of recent scientific research and updated techniques. Chapters discuss aspects such as the modelling and production of goat's milk as well as the estimation of nutrient requirements and food intake of goats.
Download or read book Lactation in Farm Animals written by and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-01-22 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Greater knowledge of lactation allows us to alter environmental, nutritional, and milking procedures, or general management to maximize production. This book, focusing on lactation in farm animals (biology, physiological basis, nutritional requirements, and modelization), presents invited papers from internationally recognized scientists. This volume contains seven chapters covering the key topics related to milk production and lactation biology and physiology. The authors show that animals raised on a well-controlled nutrition regimen may have significant enhancement of succeeding lactations. Furthermore, the usefulness of a milk yield prediction system depends upon how accurately it can predict daily milking patterns and its ability to adjust to factors affecting supply. Milk yield prediction models have proven helpful for genetic analysis and for bio-economic modeling. On the whole, this book serves as an inspirational basis for both scientists and farmers.
