Download or read book The Opera Manual written by Nicholas Ivor Martin and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2013-10-30 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are getting ready for a performance of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and you have a few questions. How many clarinets are in the orchestra? How many orchestra members appear onstage? How many different sets are there? How long does the opera typically run? What are the key arias? Are any special effects or ballet choreography required? Who owns the rights? Where was it premiered? What are the leading and supporting roles? The Opera Manual is the only single source for the answers to these and other important questions. It is the ultimate companion for opera lovers, professionals, scholars, and teachers, featuring comprehensive information about, and plot summaries for, more than 550 operas—including every opera that is likely to be performed today, from standard to rediscovered contemporary works. The book is invaluable, especially for opera professionals, who will find everything they need for choosing and staging operas. But it is also a treasure for listeners. Similar reference books commonly skip over scenes and supporting characters in their plot summaries, lacking even the most basic facts about staging, orchestral, and vocal requirements. The Opera Manual, based on the actual scores of the works discussed, is the only exhaustive, up-to-date opera companion—a “recipe book” that will enable its readers to explore those operas they know and discover new ones to sample and enjoy.

Book Synopsis The DIY Music Manual by : Randy Chertkow
Download or read book The DIY Music Manual written by Randy Chertkow and published by Random House. This book was released on 2009 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do I get my music played on the radio? Do I really need my own website - can't I just use MySpace? How do I copyright and license my songs? The DIY Music Manual has the answers to these questions ... and more. Over the last couple of years, the face of independent music has changed completely. With the rise of websites such as MySpace and iTunes, digital radio stations, podcasts, band websites and online music stores, it has made music much easier to make, promote and distribute outside traditional channels. Whereas before it was a case of sending your band's demo tape to a record label and hoping for the best, now it's possible to cut out the middle man and make a success of your band without being signed. Clearly, concisely and with a dash of wit, The DIY Music Manual tells you exactly how to do that.
Download or read book A Manual of Music written by R. Dunstan and published by Barton Press. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Manual of Music - R. DUNSTAN - THE issue of the Twentieth Edition of this book has calleci for numerous emendations and additions. Pupil teachers, for whom the Manual was originally written, are now practically extinct while the changes gradually introduced into our educational systems of teaching music and the greater attention paid to the higher developments of musical theory have also been carefully considered in the preparation of the present edition. The conversational style adopted in the theoretical part of the earlier editions no doubt helped to render the book popular among pupil teachers and those who had to prepare them for their yearly examinations in music. Present-day conditions do not call for such an extensive use of this method of explanation and although it has not been entirely discarded, it has been considerably condensed. A number of examination papers now obsolete have been deleted from the book, and much space has thereby been saved for the introduction of other important matters. As before, the Tonic Sol-fa and Staff Notations have been constantly employed together as mutually explanatory and complementary and the theoretical Course Part I includes a large number of exercises in transcribing music from one notation to the other. The treatment of the minor scales has been completely revised in accordance with the best modern views, and the List of Musical Terms has been very considerably expanded. Parts II and III have also been entirely re-written. They now include a Graded Course of Sight-singing and Ear-training in both notations a Selection of Standard Two-part Solfeggi Special Studies in Time and Tune for Students preparing for Sol-fa or Staff Notation Certificates an up-to-date Chapter on the Voice and Voice Production a series of Exercises in Breathing, Tone Production, Attack, Flexibility, etc. a com- prehensive Collection of Vocalises from the works of the greatest Teachers and Composers a Chapter on the Construction of Musical Sentences an explanation of Sonata Form with complete analyses of the first ten of Beethovens Pianoforte Sonatas and a section dealing with Music in Schools. The Appendix contains the most recent Examination Papers set by the Board of Education. In its new form the Manual is not only a complete guide to music in Training Colleges, but it is hoped that it will prove a valuable handbook for the general student of music or singing. Download or read book Made Luck written by David Airaudi and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Made Luck breaks down the modern business of music for artists that are (should be) too focused on making great music to read books. It's just the critical stuff. A deep dive into new realities of the music ecosystem, partners, deals, touring - a shallow wade into studios, merch, brands - a skim of things an artist is told they need to know when in fact what they need to know is hire someone who knows, legal, accounting. No money? Lots of anxiety? We get into that too.
