Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writings in my life's journey are an examination of events with some of the people, places, and experiences I remembered, fitting them together and appreciating how they influenced who I was. So much time, choices--good and bad--mistakes, failures, and achievements. I had difficulty concentrating and retaining data in school, until I started taking private music lessons my first year in high school. I was learning to study and memorize music, which started to carry over into my high school classes. My life through graduation was disjointed, but I was making progress and retaining minimal data to enter engineering studies. I struggled through college and upon graduation with my BSEE, was on to a fifty-year professional career. My career gave me freedom of choice in engineering and marketing, both domestic and international. As you follow my path, you will see that I essentially learned to make choices based on data and conditions, void of impulse. Many times, I had no choice, confronted with unanticipated events. But even then, I would stop, analyze, and attempt some acceptable outcome. My decision to study engineering and complete my degree lacked any preparation or plan. I was strapped with financial burdens and changing work conditions, which I did not manage well. On top of this, I needed to live and grow personally with a philosophy for life, continued music studies, art and culture, and social development. Plus there was the added pressures of the selective service to be considered. If you have the opportunity, before you start a life's goal, make a plan with reasonable milestones, allowing for unforeseen events. If it takes years, allow for your being a human being, and if you require a companion, find one who will share your life in a loose relationship with love and respect, where you both understand it is not forever. No controls. Conflicts are not what you require in life. If you are lucky and have a memory where you remember almost everything, enjoy it!

Book excerpt: This volume is the first handbook to explore existentialism as epistemology and method. Transdisciplinary in scope, it considers the nature of human subjectivity and how human experience ought to be studied, examining the connections that exist between the individual’s imagining of the world and their everyday practice within it. With attention to the question of whether humans are ultimately alone in their self-knowledge or whether what they know of themselves is constructed in common with others, it enables the reader to recognize core questions that frame the methods and orientation of an existential inquiry. In addition to historical exposition, it offers a variety of chapters from around the world that explore the diverse global spaces for, and different types of, existential focus and discussion, thus questioning the view that the existential "problem" may be singularly a matter for the post-enlightenment West. The fullest and most comprehensive survey to date of what human beings can and should make of themselves, The Routledge International Handbook of Existential Human Science will appeal to scholars across the humanities and social sciences with interests in anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and research methods.

Book excerpt: The hurting and healing are the hopeless, discouraged, divorced, widows and widowers, children who still hurt due to their old wounds, try to go through the motions of life with little ambition or motivation to do any better. God is in charge of your seasons. Don’t take things personally because life is often a roller-coaster ride of emotions. Life is full of ups and downs and filled with a collection of unexpected surprises. Behind your situation lies purpose. Broken things become useful in God’s time. Life is Like a Puzzle. Life is a like a test that you can fail if you don’t do it right. We can touch hearts of the hurting in different ways. After a long winter, spring eventually comes and with it new leaves appear on the trees in all their refreshing beauty. Take care of your heart. You are responsible for your heart because it is the engine if your life. Pain is unavoidable and suffering is optional. There is healing after hurt. Your case is settled in heaven. Concentrate on things you love. Let go! Let God! Allow healing to take place. Your case is settled in heaven. Concentrate on things you love. Let go! Let God! Allow healing to take place. There is healing power of forgiveness. We do not prolong our pain by continuing to focus on unforgiveness. People differ in the sense that many can face life again despite emotional traumas while others remain stuck with either the healing or the hurting process for many years. You cannot run before God. Every person on earth lives out a unique script of hardship. Wellness and fitness is wealth. Each area of your life is connected to all the others. Like a chain, you are only as strong as your weakest link.

Book excerpt: Nathan was different and Sally knew it. From his early childhood, Nathan was bursting with creativity and uncontainable energy, struggling not only with learning issues but also with anxiety and OCD. He saw the world through his own unique lens—one that often caused him to be labeled as “bad,” “troubled,” or someone in need of “fixing.” Bravely choosing to listen to her motherly intuition rather than the loud voices of the world, Sally dared to believe that Nathan’s differences could be part of an intentional design from a loving Creator with a plan for his life. She trusted that the things that made him different were the very things that could make him great. Join Sally and Nathan as they share their stories from a personal perspective as mother and son. If you are in need of help and hope in your own journey with an outside-the-box child, or if you’re an adult trying to make sense of your differences, you’ll find deep insight, resonance, and encouragement in the pages of this book. Dare to love and nurture the “different” one in your life.

Our responsibility is to build a successful life in a world of confusion, pain, and disorientation. In Choices: Responsible Decisions for a Godly Life, author Dr. Robert F. Kirk explains that each of us is responsible for the outcome of our life. The individual choices we make in life determine what we will become. Kirk discusses the natural and spiritual choices that determine our success or failure, and he recommends the Book of Proverbs as a guide for Godly wisdom to assist us in those decisions. The Book of Proverbs, a powerful book that provides instruction and guidance, instructs us to partner with God in our choices using His wisdom. We dont have to travel the road of life alone. However, we must make our own choices and we need to choose wisely to be successful. Choices: Responsible Decisions for a Godly Life will help you make a plan for wise decisions in your life.

Book excerpt: "Told with brains and heart" —Michelle Gable, New York Times bestselling author of A Paris Apartment "Bristles with charm and curiosity" —Winston Groom, New York Times bestselling author of Forrest Gump "A wholly original and superbly crafted work of art, Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance is a masterpiece of the imagination." —Lori Nelson Spielman, New York Times bestselling author of The Life List and Sweet Forgiveness "Charlotte's Web for grown-ups who, like Weylyn Grey, have their own stories of being different, feared, brave, and loved." —Mo Daviau, author of Every Anxious Wave Ruth Emmie Lang teaches us how to find magic in the ordinary in her magical realism debut Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance. Orphaned, raised by wolves, and the proud owner of a horned pig named Merlin, Weylyn Grey knew he wasn’t like other people. But when he single-handedly stopped that tornado on a stormy Christmas day in Oklahoma, he realized just how different he actually was. As amazing as these powers may appear, they tend to manifest themselves at inopportune times and places, jeopardizing not only his own life, but the life of Mary, the woman he loves. Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance tells the story of Weylyn Grey’s life from the perspectives of the people who knew him, loved him, and even a few who thought he was just plain weird. Although he doesn’t stay in any of their lives for long, he leaves each of them with a story to tell: great storms that evaporate into thin air; fireflies that make phosphorescent honey; a house filled with spider webs and the strange man who inhabits it. There is one story, however, that Weylyn wishes he could change: his own. But first he has to muster enough courage to knock on Mary’s front door.
