Book Synopsis Le Tractatus de Wittgenstein et l’ Éthique de Spinoza by : Markus Aenishänslin
Download or read book Le Tractatus de Wittgenstein et l’ Éthique de Spinoza written by Markus Aenishänslin and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This special issue of Labyrith is the first part of a diptych dedicated to the eminent French philosopher François Laruelle in honor of his 80th Anniversary. It aims to unveil the attracting force of Laruelle's non-philosophy for artists and scholars from different disciplines. The essays demonstrates in an emblematic way how a new "democratic order of thinking" permits non-philosophy to enclose domains that have long been considered as opposites - philosophy, science, religion and the arts - and to superpose these variables in a process of creative invention. The issue includes an original dialogue between François Laruelle and Anne Françoise Schmid, an inteview with Laruelle's translator into English Anthony Paul Smith conducted by Mark W. Westmoreland, and articles by Yvanka B. Raynova, Constance L. Mui, Julien S. Murphy, Katerina Kolozova, Adam Louis Klein, Nicholas Eppert, Laura Cull Ó Maoilearca, Gilbert Kieffer, Benoît Maire, and Anne-Françoise Schmid.

Book Synopsis Besoins informationnels et extraction d'information : Vers une conscience artificielle by : TURENNE Nicolas
Download or read book Besoins informationnels et extraction d'information : Vers une conscience artificielle written by TURENNE Nicolas and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Does the World Exist? by : Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka
Download or read book Does the World Exist? written by Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 934 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Does the World exist?" There would be no reason to resurrect this question of modernity from its historical oblivion were it not for the fact that recent evolution in science and technology, impregnating culture, makes us wonder about the nature of reality, of the world we are living in, and of our status as living beings within it. Thus great metaphysical subjacent queries are forcefully revived, calling for new investigations to proceed in the light of the innumerable novel insights of science. This collection presents a wealth of material toward an elaboration of a new metaphysical groundwork of the ontopoiesis/ phenomenology of life sought to effect such investigations. The classic postulates of the metaphysics of reality, those of necessity and certainty here find a new formulation. Away from sclerotized ontological and cognitive assumptions and congenial with the views of contemporary science, the understanding of reality, of our world of life, and of ourselves within it is to be sought in the existential/ontopoietic ciphering of life (Tymieniecka).
Book Synopsis All the Feels / Tous les sens by : Marie Carrière
Download or read book All the Feels / Tous les sens written by Marie Carrière and published by University of Alberta. This book was released on 2021-02-26 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the Feels / Tous les sens presents research into emotion and cognition in Canadian, Indigenous, and Québécois writings in English or French. Affect is both internal and external, private and public; with its fluid boundaries, it represents a productive dimension for literary analysis. The emerging field of affect studies makes vital claims about ethical impulses, social justice, and critical resistance, and thus much is at stake when we adopt affective reading practices. The contributors ask what we can learn from reading contemporary literatures through this lens. Unique and timely, readable and teachable, this collection is a welcome resource for scholars of literature, feminism, philosophy, and transnational studies as well as anyone who yearns to imagine the world differently. Book Synopsis Legacies of Trade and Empire by : Shihan de Silva Jayasuriya
Download or read book Legacies of Trade and Empire written by Shihan de Silva Jayasuriya and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2023-04-20 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book problematises established histories of slavery and indentured labour, as carried out through European empires, to interpret the impact of trade, particularly in the region surrounding the Indian Ocean. The discourse within these chapters explores the aesthetics of silence, poetics of relation, creolisation, agency and assertion of identities, musical practices, cuisine, knowledge transfers, decolonisation, and afterlives of empire. These critical analyses draw from Africa, India, Indonesia, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Suriname as their case studies. This book breaks the silence on several legacies of empire, looking through the prisms of history, politics, economics, sociology, linguistics, literature, anthropology and ethnomusicology, all the while employing a range of concepts. The authors of these chapters search through the annals of history for ways of living harmoniously in an increasingly globalised world.
Download or read book L’adab, toujours recommencé written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-08-21 with total page 890 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of adab is at the very heart of the Islamicate cultures. Born in the crucible of the Arabic and Persian civilisations of the Late Antiquity period, nourished by Greek, Syriac and Indian influences, this polysemic notion could cover a variegated range of meanings, ranging from good behaviour, good manners, etiquette, proper knowledge of the rules, to belles-lettres, and finally, literature. This volume addresses the notion of adab through four perspectives, which correspond to the four parts into which it is divided: “Origins”; “Transmissions”; “Metamorphosis” of the “Origins” and finally “Origins” through the lens of modernity.

Download or read book Théorie de la communication et éthique relationnelle (Collection forme et sens) written by FOURNOUT Olivier and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Game Over? written by Christophe Chalamet and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern science informs us about the end of the universe: "game over" is the message which lies ahead of our world. Christian theology, on the other hand, sees in the end not the cessation of all life, but rather an invitation to play again, in God's presence. Is there a way to articulate together such vastly different claims? Eschatology is a theological topic which merits being considered from several different angles. This book seeks to do this by gathering contributions from esteemed and fresh voices from the fields of biblical exegesis, history, systematic theology, philosophy, and ethics. How can we make sense, today, of Jesus' (and the New Testament's) eschatological message? How did he, his early disciples, and the Christian tradition, envision the "end" of the world? Is there a way for us to articulate together what modern science tells us about the end of the universe with the biblical and Christian claims about God who judges and who will wipe every tear? Eschatology has been at the heart of Christian theology for 100 years in the West. What should we do with this legacy? Are there ways to move our reflection forward, in our century? Scholars and other interested readers will find here a wealth of insights.
Book Synopsis Intergenerational solidarity in libraries / La solidarité intergénérationnelle dans les bibliothèques by : Ivanka Stricevic
Download or read book Intergenerational solidarity in libraries / La solidarité intergénérationnelle dans les bibliothèques written by Ivanka Stricevic and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-08-31 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid and intensive changes in the information landscape cause changes in social relationships and, consequently, in relations between generations. Within their social role libraries should work actively to reduce age segregation and isolation, and build cohesive society through intergenerational services and programmes. The authors speak about the intergenerational dialogue in libraries - theories, research and practice - and about reading as a link between generations, thus offering to libraries strategies for establishing social cohesion.
