Book Synopsis Kingdom Race Theology by : Tony Evans
Download or read book Kingdom Race Theology written by Tony Evans and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2022-01-04 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2020 murder of George Floyd ignited a racial firestorm throughout America, provoking lament and grief over a long history of tragedy. The widespread protests gave way to a heated discussion about terms such as systemic racism, white privilege, and Critical Race Theory, all framed by the slogan “black lives matter.” The beginnings of a helpful dialogue on diversity became a heated battle, one that quickly spread to the church. Drawing on forty years of ministry experience, Tony Evans writes with a fearless and prophetic voice, probing to the heart of the issue and pointing to God’s Word as the solution. Kingdom Race Theology helps people and churches commit to restitution, reconciliation, and responsibility. His penetrating and practical ideas will help pastors and church leaders sort through the conflicting theories, finding sensible solutions in the form of individual and collective action plans. Christians can work together across racial lines to repair the damage done by a long history of racial injustice.
Book Synopsis Our Oneness in Christ by : Ian Johnson
Download or read book Our Oneness in Christ written by Ian Johnson and published by PublishAmerica. This book was released on 2006-12-26 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book starts by establishing that all believers in Christ are already, in fact, one with each other in Christ. This leaves us with the challenge, not of creating unity where it does not exist, but of living consistently with the oneness that already exists. The first section explains why living consistently with our oneness is important, including God’s commands and expectations, the benefits of living in oneness and the hazards of living contrary to the truth. Part two explains what oneness is and is not, including the concepts that oneness is a harmony of diverse believers each doing their own part, not unison, unanimity or strict conformity to the same mold. The third section deals with practical barriers to living in oneness—selfishness, misunderstandings, heresy, and incorrect understanding of the origin of the organizational divisions in the universal Church—and suggests how to overcome them.

Download or read book Kingdom Formation written by Robert Snitko and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-12-07 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a polarizing world. People are being pulled in every direction, having their attention veered away from Jesus. When followers of Jesus lose sight of living life on earth as it is in heaven, it can be easy to be swayed into the many tribes of this world, being sidetracked from what matters most. If we allow it, the disunity of this world can make its way into our lives and begin to form and shape us. This leads to a depleting spiritual life. So we long for hope. A hope that cannot be found living for the things this world offers. A hope that is kingdom-minded. If we are going to find hope in a broken and hurting world, then we must not be formed by the things of this world--which suffocate our spiritual vitality. Instead, we must be formed by kingdom life, which is best understood through the person of Jesus. Kingdom Formation: Being Transformed for Life on Earth as It Is in Heaven, helps readers navigate the tension of living for the kingdom of God while residing as pilgrims in a broken and hurting world. This book seeks to bring hope through spiritual restoration and nourishment to those who long to be kingdom people on earth.
Book Synopsis Unity Metaphysics by : Charles Fillmore

Book excerpt: This book, first published more than 70 years ago, is the key to the metaphysical teachings of Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of Unity. In it you will find fascinating quotations and comments on metaphysical subjects including the reality of God, the nature of humankind, and the purpose of Mind. You will find that Mind does two crucial things: it creates and emits Divine Ideas. You will see that true, perfect nature is what metaphysical thinkers know as an idea. The Divine Idea for human beings is given a special term, the Christ. Divine Ideas form the "pattern" from which things in the material world are expressed. These are fascinating metaphysical ideas from the heart and pen of America's preeminent metaphysician-Ideas from God-Mind.

Book Synopsis The Rush to German Unity by : Konrad H. Jarausch
Download or read book The Rush to German Unity written by Konrad H. Jarausch and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1994-02-24 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bringing down of the Berlin Wall is one of the most vivid images and historic events of the late twentieth century. The reunification of Germany has transformed the face of Europe. In one stunning year, two separate states with clashing ideologies, hostile armies, competing economies, and incompatible social systems merged into one. The speed and extent of the reunification was so great that many people are still trying to understand the events. Initial elation has given way to the realities and problems posed in reuniting two such different systems. The Rush to German Unity presents a clear historical reconstruction of the confusing events. It focuses on the dramatic experiences of the East German people but also explores the decisions of the West German elite. Konrad H. Jarausch draws on the rich sources produced by the collapse of the GDR and on the public debate in the FRG. Beginning with vivid media images, the text probes the background of a problem, traces its treatment and resolution and then reflects on its implications. Combining an insider's insights with an outsider's detachment, the interpretation balances the celebratory and the catastrophic views. The unification process was democratic, peaceful and negotiated. But the merger was also bureaucratic, capitalistic and one-sided. Popular pressures and political manipulation combined to create a rush to unity that threatened to escape control. The revolution moved from a civic rising to a national movement and ended up as reconstruction from the outside. An ideal source for general readers and students, The Rush to German Unity explores whether solving the old German problem has merely created new difficulties.
