Download or read book Algebra written by T. T. Moh and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comes from the first part of the lecture notes which the author used for a first-year graduate algebra course. The aim of this book is not only to give the students quick access to the basic knowledge of algebra, either for future advancement in the field of algebra, or for general background information, but also to show that algebra is truly a master key or a ?skeleton key? to many mathematical problems. As one knows, the teeth of an ordinary key prevent it from opening all but one door; whereas the skeleton key keeps only the essential parts, allow it to unlock many doors. The author wishes to present this book as an attempt to re-establish the contacts between algebra and other branches of mathematics and sciences. Many examples and exercises are included to illustrate the power of intuitive approaches to algebra.

Book Synopsis Visual Group Theory by : Nathan Carter
Download or read book Visual Group Theory written by Nathan Carter and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-06-08 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recipient of the Mathematical Association of America's Beckenbach Book Prize in 2012! Group theory is the branch of mathematics that studies symmetry, found in crystals, art, architecture, music and many other contexts, but its beauty is lost on students when it is taught in a technical style that is difficult to understand. Visual Group Theory assumes only a high school mathematics background and covers a typical undergraduate course in group theory from a thoroughly visual perspective. The more than 300 illustrations in Visual Group Theory bring groups, subgroups, homomorphisms, products, and quotients into clear view. Every topic and theorem is accompanied with a visual demonstration of its meaning and import, from the basics of groups and subgroups through advanced structural concepts such as semidirect products and Sylow theory.

Book Synopsis A Guide Book to Mathematics by : BRONSHTEIN
Download or read book A Guide Book to Mathematics written by BRONSHTEIN and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TO THE FIRST RUSSIAN EDITION It was a very difficult task to write a guide-book of a small size designed to contain the fundamental knowledge of mathema tics which is most necessary to engineers and students of higher technical schools. In our tendency to the compactness and brevity of the exposition, we attempted, however, to produce a guide-book which would be easy to understand, convenient to use and as accurate as possible (as much as it is required in engineering). It should be pointed out that this book is neither a handbook nor a compendium, but a guide-book. Therefore it is not written as systematically as a handbook should be written. Hence the reader should not be surprised to find, for example, I'HOpital's rule in the section devoted to computation of limits which is a part of the chapter "Introduction to the analysis" placed before the concept of the derivative, or information about the Gamma function in the chapter "Algebra"-just after the concept of the factorial. There are many such "imperfections" in the book. Thus a reader who wants to acquire certain information is advised to use not only the table of contents but also the alpha betical index inserted at the end of the book. If a problem mentioned in the text is explained in detail in another place of the book, then the corresponding page is indicated in a footnote.
