Foi em sua atuação na Prefeitura Municipal de Campo Grande/Mato Grosso do Sul que Vera Penzo, dialogando com os professores no processo de formação continuada, percebeu a necessidade dos professores em abordar o tema criatividade. Outro aspecto, diz respeito a percepção de que o trabalho inclusivo requer mudanças, ênfase no processo criador e, portanto, as redes de ensino, para qualificarem seu projeto de inclusão, precisam abrir-se para o estudo das práticas sócio-históricas e ao mesmo tempo propor novos caminhos. Um terceiro aspecto em destaque no trabalho da autora é o esforço em compreender a criatividade no trabalho pedagógico, no campo do ensino de arte, a partir de um estudo de campo que alimentou as importantes conclusões sistematizadas neste livro em especial no ensino médio e na educação inclusiva.
