Book Synopsis Model Code for Service Life Design by : fib Fédération internationale du béton
Download or read book Model Code for Service Life Design written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: fib Bulletin 34 addresses Service Life Design (SLD) for plain concrete, reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures, with a special focus on design provisions for managing the adverse effects of degradation. Its objective is to identify agreed durability related models and to prepare the framework for standardization of performance based design approaches. Four different options for SLD are given: - a full probabilistic approach, - a semi probabilistic approach (partial factor design), - deemed to satisfy rules, - avoidance of deterioration. The service life design approaches described in this document may be applied for the design of new structures, for updating the service life design if the structure exists and real material properties and/or the interaction of environment and structure can be measured (real concrete covers, carbonation depths), and for calculating residual service life. The bulletin is divided into five chapters: 1. General 2. Basis of design 3. Verification of Service Life Design 4. Execution and its quality management 5. Maintenance and condition control It also includes four informative annexes, which give background information and examples of procedures and deterioration models for the application in SLD. The format of Bulletin 34 follows the CEB-FIP tradition for Model Codes: the main provisions are given on the right-hand side of the page, and on the left-hand side, the comments. Note: An Italian translation of Bulletin 34 is also available; contact us for further details.
Book Synopsis Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition by : Arnon Bentur
Download or read book Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition written by Arnon Bentur and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-11-22 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced cementitious composites can be designed to have outstanding combinations of strength (five to ten times that of conventional concrete) and energy absorption capacity (up to 1000 times that of plain concrete). This second edition brings together in one volume the latest research developments in this rapidly expanding area. The book is split into two parts. The first part is concerned with the mechanics of fibre reinforced brittle matrices and the implications for cementitious systems. In the second part the authors describe the various types of fibre-cement composites, discussing production processes, mechanical and physical properties, durability and applications. Two new chapters have been added, covering fibre specification and structural applications. Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites will be of great interest to practitioners involved in modern concrete technology and will also be of use to academics, researchers and graduate students.

Download or read book Compressive Strength of Concrete written by Pavel Krivenko and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete made using mineral cements, the raw materials which on earth are practically endless, is known as one of the oldest building materials and during the last decades of the twentieth century has become a dominant building material for general use. At the same time, the requirements of the quality of concrete and its performance properties, in particular compressive strength, durability, economical efficiency, and low negative impact of its manufacture on the environment have not yet been completely met. Bearing these requirements in mind, researchers and engineers worldwide are working on how to satisfy these requirements. This book has been written by researchers and experts in the field and provides the state of the art on recent progress achieved on the properties of concrete, including concrete in which industrial by-products are utilized. The book is dedicated to graduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers in related fields.

Book Synopsis Some Basic Aspects of the Problem of Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams by : Sidney Aaron Guralnick
Download or read book Some Basic Aspects of the Problem of Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams written by Sidney Aaron Guralnick and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The behavior of plain concrete subjected to a plane state of stress consisting of shearing compressive stress components has been investigated. It has been found by comparison with numerous test results that Mohr's rupture theory is adequate in predicting failure stresses for such cases. Equations based on Mohr's theory have been developed which express the "interaction" of the shearing and compressive stresses at failure. The problem of predicting the ultimate load of beams failing in shear has been approached by applying the "interaction" equations developed for plain concrete, since it has been recognized that failure in shear is essentially a failure of the concrete. A failure theory for the cases of beams with plain webs and beams with vertical stirrups has been developed. Test data from forty-five beams have been used to check the validity of the theory developed
