Book Synopsis Radiopharmaceuticals for Therapy by : F. F. (Russ) Knapp
Download or read book Radiopharmaceuticals for Therapy written by F. F. (Russ) Knapp and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-20 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides detailed information on therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals and discusses emerging technologies which have potential for broad clinical implementation. Recent advances in molecular biology, radiopharmaceutical chemistry and radioisotope production have stimulated a new era for the use of radiopharmaceuticals for targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT). Emerging clinical trials include use of peptides and monoclonal antibodies radiolabeled with therapeutic radionuclides for cancer therapy. In addition, small molecules are used for the treatment of chronic diseases such as metastatic bone pain palliation and radiation synovectomy of inflammatory joints. In the interventional arena, therapy of primary and metastatic liver cancer and arterial restenosis following angioplasty of both the coronary and peripheral arteries are being explored. Reactor and accelerator production of therapeutic radioisotopes is also integrated into these discussions. The development and use of radiopharmaceutical targeting characteristics required for treatment of specific disease processes and how these are implemented for radiopharmaceutical design strategies are also described. Radiopharmaceuticals for Therapy will benefit audiences in nuclear medicine and radionuclide therapy and will thus prove an invaluable source of up-to-date information for students, radiopharmaceutical scientists and professionals working in the radiopharmacy and nuclear medicine specialties.

Book Synopsis Nuclear Disintegration Studies with a Beta-ray Spectrometer by : William W. Pratt
Download or read book Nuclear Disintegration Studies with a Beta-ray Spectrometer written by William W. Pratt and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of a beta-ray spectrometer, in the analysis of nuclear decay schemes, makes possible the solution of many of the problems which arise in the course of such analyses. Of particular interest is the application of the instrument to the determination of the energy of beta and gamma-radiation from radioactive isotopes. In addition, it is possible to use the instrument to estimate the relative intensities of the various components of radiation; and to apply the coincidence method, in conjunction with the spectrometer, to the determination of the order in which these components are emitted from the nucleus. The present work was concerned with three particular problems arising in beta-ray spectrometry. A method of improving the intensity-resolution relationship of a thin lens magnetic beta-ray spectrometer, by means of ring focusing, was investigated. The existence of a ring-shaped constriction in the electron beam was demonstrated experimentally by a photographic film method. A theoretical analysis was carried out in an attempt to determine relations from which the relative intensities of beta-rays, gamma-rays and internal conversion electrons might be determined from data obtained with the spectrometer. Simplifying assumptions were made concerning the focusing action of the instrument, and effects due to scattering of electrons in the source of photoelectric radiator were neglected. Formulae were derived from which the observed spectrometer counting rates due to sources of known activity, emitting beta-rays, gamma-rays or internal conversion electrons may be predicted.

Book Synopsis Environmental Protection Against Radioactive Pollution by : N. Birsen
Download or read book Environmental Protection Against Radioactive Pollution written by N. Birsen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-11-30 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reports presented here discuss: General estimation of the radioactive contamination of the territories and radiation hazardous objects, including former military test sites, areas influenced due to Chernobyl and Mayak accidents, and territories of oil fields; Techniques and procedures of radioecological monitoring; Techniques of determining radionuclide concentrations and species in the environment. The cross-border transport of radionuclides between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan by the waterways of Central Asia is discussed and a number of cases are described where the redistribution and accumulation of the natural radionuclides resulted in dangerous radioecological situations. This book also provides a strong foundation on which to build further multilateral programmes that can enhance understanding and cooperation in addressing the issues surrounding the sites where nuclear weapons were once tested.
