Book Synopsis The Crises of the Christ by : G. Campbell Morgan
Download or read book The Crises of the Christ written by G. Campbell Morgan and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-05-06 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years many books based on the Life of Christ have been published. Of these, some have emphasized the facts of His humanity, others the truth of his Deity. While these volumes, therefore, present the Person of Jesus, this work-by the Prince of Expositors-examines His Life as the accomplishment of a Divine work. With rare insight, accuracy of definition, and countless illuminating strokes, G. Campbell Morgan devotes these thirty-three chapters to the pivotal events in Christ's life. The seven crises are: the Birth, the Baptism, the Temptation, the Transfiguration, the Death, the Resurrection, and the Ascension. Included is a preliminary chapter, "The Call for Christ-Man Fallen," and a concluding chapter, "The Answer for Christ-Man Redeemed." Four indexes complete the volume.

Book Synopsis The Routledge Handbook to the Political Economy and Governance of the Americas by : Olaf Kaltmeier
Download or read book The Routledge Handbook to the Political Economy and Governance of the Americas written by Olaf Kaltmeier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-01-09 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook explores the political economy and governance of the Americas, placing particular emphasis on collective and intertwined experiences. Forty-six chapters cover a range of Inter-American key concepts and dynamics. The flow of peoples, goods, resources, knowledge and finances have on the one hand promoted interdependence and integration that cut across borders and link the countries of North and South America (including the Caribbean) together. On the other hand, they have contributed to profound asymmetries between different places. The nature of this transversally related and multiply interconnected hemispheric region can only be captured through a transnational, multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach. This handbook examines the direct and indirect political interventions, geopolitical imaginaries, inequalities, interlinked economic developments and the forms of appropriation of the vast natural resources in the Americas. Expert contributors give a comprehensive overview of the theories, practices and geographies that have shaped the economic dynamics of the region and their impact on both the political and natural landscape. This multidisciplinary approach will be of interest to a broad array of academic scholars and students in history, sociology, geography, economics and political science, as well as cultural, postcolonial, environmental and globalization studies.

Book Synopsis The Palgrave Handbook of EU Crises by : Marianne Riddervold
Download or read book The Palgrave Handbook of EU Crises written by Marianne Riddervold and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-21 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook comprehensively explores the European Union’s institutional and policy responses to crises across policy domains and institutions – including the Euro crisis, Brexit, the Ukraine crisis, the refugee crisis, as well as the global health crisis resulting from COVID-19. It contributes to our understanding of how crisis affects institutional change and continuity, decision-making behavior and processes, and public policy-making. It offers a systematic discussion of how the existing repertoire of theories understand crisis and how well they capture times of unrest and events of disintegration. More generally, the handbook looks at how public organizations cope with crises, and thus probes how sustainable and resilient public organizations are in times of crisis and unrest.
Book Synopsis Capitalism’s Crises by : Vishwas Satgar
Download or read book Capitalism’s Crises written by Vishwas Satgar and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2015-10-01 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributors to this volume draw on a non-dogmatic Marxist approach to explain the systemic and conjunctural dynamics of crisis inherent in global capitalism. Their analysis asks what is historically specific to capitalism's crises while avoiding catastrophic or defeatist claims. At the same time the volume situates left agency within actual patterns of resistance and class struggle to clarify the potential for transformative change. The cycle of resistance strengthened by the World Socal Forum and transnational activism is now punctuated by the experience of the Arab Spring, the agency of anti-systemic movements, left think tanks, the Occupy Wall Street Movement, labour unions, left parties in Europe such as Syrizia and Podemos and peoples' budgeting in Kerala, India. On the down side, we are witnessing the waning of the Workers Party in Brazil and serious challenges for South Africa's once powerful labour movement and still formative social justice activism. All these developments are assessed in this volume. This is the second volume in the Democratic Marxism series. It elaborates on crucial themes introduced in the first volume, Marxism in the 21st Century: Crisis, Critique and Struggle (edited by Michelle Williams and Vishwas Satgar).

Book Synopsis Global Food-Price Shocks and Poor People by : Marc J. Cohen
Download or read book Global Food-Price Shocks and Poor People written by Marc J. Cohen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-06-11 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the effects of high and volatile food prices during 2007-08 on low-income farmers and consumers in developing, transition, and industrialized countries. Previous studies of this crisis have mostly used models to estimate the likely impacts. This volume includes actual evidence from the field as to how higher prices affected access to food and farm income among poor people. In addition to country and regional case studies, the book presents discussions of cross-cutting themes, including gender, risk management, violence, the importance of subsistence farming as a coping strategy, and the role of governments and markets in addressing higher prices. With 2011 witnessing an unprecedentedly high level of food prices, the findings and policy recommendations presented here should prove useful to both scholars and policy makers in understanding the causes and consequences, as well as the policies needed to ensure food security in light of the skyrocketing cost of food. This book was published as a special double issue of Development in Practice.

Book Synopsis THE EMPIRE OF APOSTLES by : Ananya Chakravarti
Download or read book THE EMPIRE OF APOSTLES written by Ananya Chakravarti and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-05-18 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Portuguese encounter with the peoples of South Asia and Brazil set foundational precedents for European imperialism. Jesuit missionaries were key participants in both regions. As they sought to reconcile three commitments—to local missionary spaces, to a universal Church, and to the global Portuguese empire—the Jesuits forged a religious vision of empire. Ananya Chakravarti explores both indigenous and European experiences to show how these missionaries learned to negotiate everything with the diverse peoples they encountered and that nothing could simply be imposed. Yet Jesuits repeatedly wrote home in language celebrating triumphal impositions of European ideas and practices upon indigenous people. In the process, while empire was built through distinctly ambiguous interactions, Europeans came to imagine themselves in imperial moulds. In this dynamic, in which the difficult lessons of empire came to be learned and forgotten repeatedly, Chakravarti demonstrates an enduring and overlooked characteristic of European imperialism.
Book Synopsis O nascer da pérola by : Leylane Bahia
Download or read book O nascer da pérola written by Leylane Bahia and published by Leylane Santana do Nascimento Bahia. This book was released on with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis A Solution to the Crises of Soil, Water, and Climate in Plant Production by : Imran
Download or read book A Solution to the Crises of Soil, Water, and Climate in Plant Production written by Imran and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2023-07-25 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains information on solutions to soil, water and environmental issues. The deterioration of fertile soil, fresh, clean water, and hygienic and green environments for many reasons have created concerns among the scientific community. Soil, water and the environment are threatened by chemical applications (pesticides and fertilizers, for example), natural disasters (erosion, volcanic eruptions, etc.) and other anthropogenic activities (GHG emission, deforestation, urbanization, and more). Life is dependent on these resources. If the soil is lost, from where can we produce food? If water is lost, how will life persist? If the environment is not clean, how will living beings (humans, animals and birds) survive? This book demonstrates critical thinking about how we might save these precious resources.
