Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lean has never published a book before this one. She hopes there are many more to come. Butterflies have been her favorite insect ever since she can remember. She loves clothing, pictures, and other things with butterflies on them. Butterflies are a symbol of new beginnings, so writing a book with butterflies in it just made sense to her. One night sitting in the quiet, she asked for guidance. "What is her purpose? What is going to make her happier and successful in life?" All of a sudden, the book came rushing into her head; she couldn't write it down fast enough! She's never written a book before, so it was all new to her. Later, when the book was more than half written, she started typing it onto the computer, again, she couldn't type fast enough because the words were still flowing like water. The book was finished in a month; editing and tweaking took a while longer. Now, it's ready for you to read: six little bedtime stories. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for you.

Its purpose is to share the love, pain and growth that so many have lived through and to inspire healing by all who grieve. This book lets mourners know that they are not alone and they are not going crazy, they are grieving and they can heal. It was written over a 22 year period by a mother after the death of her 24 year old son by suicide in 1986. Many of the poems have been previously published in newsletters, brochures and on the internet. They have proven to be very encouraging to those who grieve by helping them to deal with and understand their grieving journey. The book offers a clear explanation of the grief journey and grief process as experienced from the perspective of all family members, friends and fellow grievers in fourteen chapters. The chapters are divided by the stages and the friend or family member's perspective. The poems and commentary offer suggestions and information about helpful methods and modalities that a grieving person can use to better negotiate the different stages of grief. The author uses her experiences and education as the Executive Director/CEO of the Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention, Inc. and a member of the Florida State Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council to explain and share the experiences of thousands of grieving individuals which she has come in contact with over the last 22 years. The commentary and poems express the perspective of both the author and survivors with which she has worked and describes their pain and ultimate healing. This book is a useful tool for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one including those dealing with a death by suicide.

Finished singing, Khalil Khoury notices her sitting alone, joins her, then notices no one else. Georgetown University's 1964 summer program opens; Salzburg's magic begins. "The Butterfly & The Snail" interweaves several heartfelt encounters, creating a fabric of love and intimacy that transforms their lives forever. On one outing, Rebecca loses her footing and tumbles down Untersberg Mountain. Khalil risks his life-and almost loses it-to save Rebecca from falling off the peak. Two days later, Rebecca discovers a newborn butterfly and then spies a snail picking its way up the path. These creatures come to symbolize this couple's extraordinary relationship. Relaxing on Gaisberg's hillside, Rebecca reveals the turmoil she's had to overcome to gain inner peace. Yet, she confesses, her heart's desire-love-has eluded her. When Khalil reacts with sympathy and compassion, she desires that powerful, mystical love radiating from within him. She asks, "How can I love like you?" His answer binds them together forever. Six weeks later, the program ends. As Rebecca says good-bye, Khalil hands her an envelope: "Not to be opened until out of Salzburg." Is this his auf Wiedersehen or the beginning of a deeper relationship? Discover if their magic continues beyond Salzburg. "I personally wanted to congratulate you for submitting one of the top proposals in the contest ... this is no small feat given more than 300 proposals were received and yours rose to the top." Christine Kloser, 2012 Transformational Author Writing Contest Sponsor "I am reading your book and I love it. I really cried on the chapter about your father. My mother died from cervical cancer and had a lot of agony and pain also. So, I really connected with you and your family. It was beautifully written. You are really good!" Book excerpt: In this eloquent plea for compassion and respect for all species, journalist and gardener Nancy Lawson describes why and how to welcome wildlife to our backyards. Through engaging anecdotes and inspired advice, profiles of home gardeners throughout the country, and interviews with scientists and horticulturalists, Lawson applies the broader lessons of ecology to our own outdoor spaces. Detailed chapters address planting for wildlife by choosing native species; providing habitats that shelter baby animals, as well as birds, bees, and butterflies; creating safe zones in the garden; cohabiting with creatures often regarded as pests; letting nature be your garden designer; and encouraging natural processes and evolution in the garden. The Humane Gardener fills a unique niche in describing simple principles for both attracting wildlife and peacefully resolving conflicts with all the creatures that share our world.

The Divine Resting on My Shoulder: The Story of How Divine Mystical Experiences Brought Me Closer to God answers those questions and more. Author Richard Ferguson uses his experiences to describe what divine, mystical experiences actually feel like and how you can tell if an experience is really from the divine. Ferguson also shares what these experiences tell us about God, His character, and how dearly He loves us and wants to help us in our lives. There is so much apathy in modern society that Gods soothing caress and whispers of love go unnoticed. People are too attached to their smartphones and the latest releases of video games that they miss out on what God wants to give to all of us. The Divine Resting on My Shoulder: The Story of How Divine Mystical Experiences Brought Me Closer to God will open the door of your heart so He can walk through and show you His loving power and His love for each and every one of us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Butterfly's Journey offers a unique approach to enduring the loss of a child, with the author’s diverse perspective as a multiple bereaved parent and support group facilitator. In this gripping memoir that commences with the day she got "the call" alerting her that her 21-year-old son had been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, Hopkinson bares her soul in moving through a journey of grief that changed her life forever. She also gives families a reason to believe in their child's continued spiritual existence. With great skill, Hopkinson's approach helps bereaved parents and families understand the variety of ways grief can be felt, expressed and supported. For example, genders grieve differently and infant loss can be as traumatic as the death of an older or adult child. She gently reminds us to be tolerant: we all grieve in our own way and on our own schedule. Courageously sharing the impact of grief in her own life, Hopkinson reveals that her 30-year-marriage did not survive the untimely death of her adult son. Additionally, while going through a divorce that dramatically altered her lifestyle, her remaining son flunked out of college as a result of the loss of his brother. Like many bereaved parents, Hopkinson briefly contemplated suicide after these and other unexpected events. In A Butterfly's Journey, she details finding an inner strength she now believes has prepared her to handle any life challenge with greater ease. She also models how she found love, hope and happiness again by turning outward and helping others.

Her cousin Olga is enlisted as an accomplice in clumsy, youthful, romantic escapades. When America enters the conflict, the young men in the Long Island town where the girls live set aside their educations and eagerly enlist to serve the country. While Lenore bemoans the loss of most of her admirers, Olga does all she can to serve on the home front. The patriotism of the men sends them off with the certainty that they will quickly defeat the madman ravaging Europe. They fight tirelessly and eventually succeed in destroying the aggressor. Mature men return home to pick up the threads of the peaceful lives they had expected would be theirs.

Book excerpt: Clare James never intended to do more than visit museums and sketch the work of centuries of artists who had come before her when she signed up for a study abroad program in London, England. However, after her travel companion's belongings are nearly blown up under suspicious circumstances, she arrives at her flat where her new roommate bullies her at knifepoint. Exhausted and scared, she is quickly disillusioned about her reasons for coming overseas. And then Lizbeth, a friend from the United States whose mother is British, shows up with a mysterious tale of a stolen family heirloom--a painting so small it could be hidden in the sole of a shoe. This painting could prove the existence of a lost royal heir and close the doors of one of London's largest churches forever. Intrigued like a modern Nancy Drew, she goes from decoding messages by candlelight in the dome of St. Paul's cathedral to avoiding capture by doodling caricatures of guests amidst the glitz of a grand country ball. In her quest to find the truth, can Clare stay connected to the unique voice God has given her to share her testimony with the other students in the program and solve the meaning of the miniature painting's existence without compromising her beliefs?
