ICATH’2021 was jointly co-organized by the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (INSEA) in collaboration with the Moroccan School of Engineering Sciences (EMSI), the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine (IAV-Hassan II), the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT), the National School of Mineral Industry (ENSMR), the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat (UM5-FSR), the National School of Applied Sciences of Kenitra (ENSAK) and the Future University in Egypt (FUE). ICATH’2021 was devoted to practical models and industrial applications related to advanced technologies for Humanity. It was considered as a meeting point for researchers and practitioners to enable the implementation of advanced information technologies into various industries. This book is helpful for PhD students as well as researchers. The 48 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 105 submissions. The papers presented in the volume are organized in topical sections on synergies between (i) smart and sustainable cities, (ii) communication systems, signal and image processing for humanity, (iii) cybersecurity, database and language processing for human applications, (iV) renewable and sustainable energies, (V) civil engineering and structures for sustainable constructions, (Vi) materials and smart buildings and (Vii) Industry 4.0 for smart factories. All contributions were subject to a double-blind review. The review process was highly competitive. We had to review 105 submissions from 12 countries. A team of over 100 program committee members and reviewers did this terrific job. Our special thanks go to all of them.

Book Synopsis Displacement, Diaspora, and Geographies of Identity by : Smadar Lavie
Download or read book Displacement, Diaspora, and Geographies of Identity written by Smadar Lavie and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 1996-06-13 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Displacement, Diaspora, and Geographies of Identity challenges conventional understandings of identity based on notions of nation and culture as bounded or discrete. Through careful examinations of various transnational, hybrid, border, and diasporic forces and practices, these essays push at the edge of cultural studies, postmodernism, and postcolonial theory and raise crucial questions about ethnographic methodology. This volume exemplifies a cross-disciplinary cultural studies and a concept of culture rooted in lived experience as well as textual readings. Anthropologists and scholars from related fields deploy a range of methodologies and styles of writing to blur and complicate conventional dualisms between authors and subjects of research, home and away, center and periphery, and first and third world. Essays discuss topics such as Rai, a North African pop music viewed as westernized in Algeria and as Arab music in France; the place of Sephardic and Palestinian writers within Israel’s Ashkenazic-dominated arts community; and the use and misuse of the concept “postcolonial” as it is applied in various regional contexts. In exploring histories of displacement and geographies of identity, these essays call for the reconceptualization of theoretical binarisms such as modern and postmodern, colonial and postcolonial. It will be of interest to a broad spectrum of scholars and students concerned with postmodern and postcolonial theory, ethnography, anthropology, and cultural studies. Contributors. Norma Alarcón, Edward M. Bruner, Nahum D. Chandler, Ruth Frankenberg, Joan Gross, Dorinne Kondo, Kristin Koptiuch, Smadar Lavie, Lata Mani, David McMurray, Kirin Narayan, Greg Sarris, Ted Swedenburg

Book Synopsis Multi-Valued and Universal Binary Neurons by : Igor Aizenberg
Download or read book Multi-Valued and Universal Binary Neurons written by Igor Aizenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-Valued and Universal Binary Neurons deals with two new types of neurons: multi-valued neurons and universal binary neurons. These neurons are based on complex number arithmetic and are hence much more powerful than the typical neurons used in artificial neural networks. Therefore, networks with such neurons exhibit a broad functionality. They can not only realise threshold input/output maps but can also implement any arbitrary Boolean function. Two learning methods are presented whereby these networks can be trained easily. The broad applicability of these networks is proven by several case studies in different fields of application: image processing, edge detection, image enhancement, super resolution, pattern recognition, face recognition, and prediction. The book is hence partitioned into three almost equally sized parts: a mathematical study of the unique features of these new neurons, learning of networks of such neurons, and application of such neural networks. Most of this work was developed by the first two authors over a period of more than 10 years and was only available in the Russian literature. With this book we present the first comprehensive treatment of this important class of neural networks in the open Western literature. Multi-Valued and Universal Binary Neurons is intended for anyone with a scholarly interest in neural network theory, applications and learning. It will also be of interest to researchers and practitioners in the fields of image processing, pattern recognition, control and robotics.
Book Synopsis Renewable Energy Prospects by : Dolf Gielen
Download or read book Renewable Energy Prospects written by Dolf Gielen and published by . This book was released on 2017-03 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indonesia is the largest country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), accounting for around two fifths of the region's energy consumption. Energy demand across the country's more than 17,000 islands could increase by four fifths and electricity demand could triple between 2015 and 2030.While reliance on domestic coal and imported petroleum products has grown, Indonesia has started adding more renewables to its energy mix. The country has set out to achieve 23% renewable energy use by 2025, and 31% by 2050.REmap - the global roadmap from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) - addresses this challenge, presenting a range of technology and resource options, along with key insights on the opportunities and challenges ahead. As this REmap country report shows, Indonesia could feasibly exceed its current goals and deploy even more renewables. In fact, the country could reach its 2050 target two decades sooner - by 2030.
Book Synopsis Critical Debates in Tourism by : Tej Vir Singh
Download or read book Critical Debates in Tourism written by Tej Vir Singh and published by Channel View Publications. This book was released on 2012-08-14 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume tourism experts collectively discuss and debate some intriguing questions that the tourism industry poses, such as the relevance of mass tourism, the dilemma of authenticity, whether small tourism is beautiful, whether volunteer tourism is benign, whether tourism contributes to climate change, as well as many others. The book brings together the expertise of 35 renowned international scholars of tourism to examine these perplexing issues. Multidisciplinary in its content, it touches upon anthropology, sociology, geography, climatology, biosciences, and planning and development aspects of tourism. The book provides a dialogue for an academic discussion which challenges research conservatism and stereotypes in tourism studies. It will encourage scholars to test the consistency of critical notions whose heuristic value is often taken for granted. The book will benefit graduates, research scholars and those involved in organizing the industry sustainably.
