Download or read book Change Request Impacts in Software Maintenance written by Madapuri Rudra Kumar and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-06 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses Change Management Impact Analysis and how this method is used to analysis the risks and benefits of a change management initiative when it pertains to obtaining critical insight into how the change management program budget should be allotted. The process also offers useful indicators for what areas within the system should be monitored during the change management process. This book presents theoretical analysis of practical implications and surveys, along with analysis. It covers the functions aimed at identifying various stakeholders associated with the software such as requirement component, design component, and class component. The book talks about the interrelationship between the change and the effects on the rest of the system and dives deeper to include the critical role that the analysis places on the existing multiple functions such as estimating the development costs, the project overhead costs, cost for the modification of the system, and system strength or detecting errors in the system during the process. Case studies are also included to help researchers and practitioners to absorb the material presented. This book is useful to graduate students, researchers, academicians, institutions, and professionals that interested in exploring the areas of Impact Analysis.

Book Synopsis Computer, Network, Software, and Hardware Engineering with Applications by : Norman F. Schneidewind
Download or read book Computer, Network, Software, and Hardware Engineering with Applications written by Norman F. Schneidewind and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-03-27 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many books on computers, networks, and software engineering but none that integrate the three with applications. Integration is important because, increasingly, software dominates the performance, reliability, maintainability, and availability of complex computer and systems. Books on software engineering typically portray software as if it exists in a vacuum with no relationship to the wider system. This is wrong because a system is more than software. It is comprised of people, organizations, processes, hardware, and software. All of these components must be considered in an integrative fashion when designing systems. On the other hand, books on computers and networks do not demonstrate a deep understanding of the intricacies of developing software. In this book you will learn, for example, how to quantitatively analyze the performance, reliability, maintainability, and availability of computers, networks, and software in relation to the total system. Furthermore, you will learn how to evaluate and mitigate the risk of deploying integrated systems. You will learn how to apply many models dealing with the optimization of systems. Numerous quantitative examples are provided to help you understand and interpret model results. This book can be used as a first year graduate course in computer, network, and software engineering; as an on-the-job reference for computer, network, and software engineers; and as a reference for these disciplines.

Book excerpt: Wearepleasedtopresenttheproceedingsofthe14thMontereyWorkshop,which tookplaceSeptember10–13,2007inMonterey,CA,USA. Inthispreface, wegive the reader an overview of what took place at the workshop and introduce the contributions in this Lecture Notes in Computer Science volume. A complete introduction to the theme of the workshop, as well as to the history of the Monterey Workshop series, can be found in Luqi and Kordon’s “Advances in Requirements Engineering: Bridging the Gap between Stakeholders’ Needs and Formal Designs” in this volume. This paper also contains the case study that many participants used as a problem to frame their analyses, and a summary of the workshop’s results. The workshop consisted of three keynote talks, three panels, presentations of peer-reviewed papers, as well as presentations of various position papers by the participants. The keynote speakers at this year’s workshop were Daniel Berry, Aravind Joshi, and Lori Clarke. Each of their talks was used to set the tone for the p- sentations and discussions for that particular day. Daniel Berry presented an overview of the needs and challenges of natural language processing in requi- ments engineering, with a special focus on ambiguity in his talk “Ambiguity in Natural Language Requirements. ” Aravind Joshi provided an overview of current natural language processing research in discourse analysis in the talk “Some Recent Developments in Natural Language Processing. ” Finally, Lori Clarke showed how to combine formal requirements speci?cation with natural language processing to cope with the complex domain of medical information processes in “Getting the Details Right.
Book Synopsis Engineering and Managing Software Requirements by : Aybüke Aurum
Download or read book Engineering and Managing Software Requirements written by Aybüke Aurum and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-07 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Requirements engineering is the process by which the requirements for software systems are gathered, analyzed, documented, and managed throughout their complete lifecycle. Traditionally it has been concerned with technical goals for, functions of, and constraints on software systems. Aurum and Wohlin, however, argue that it is no longer appropriate for software systems professionals to focus only on functional and non-functional aspects of the intended system and to somehow assume that organizational context and needs are outside their remit. Instead, they call for a broader perspective in order to gain a better understanding of the interdependencies between enterprise stakeholders, processes, and software systems, which would in turn give rise to more appropriate techniques and higher-quality systems. Following an introductory chapter that provides an exploration of key issues in requirements engineering, the book is organized in three parts. Part 1 presents surveys of state-of-the art requirements engineering process research along with critical assessments of existing models, frameworks and techniques. Part 2 addresses key areas in requirements engineering, such as market-driven requirements engineering, goal modeling, requirements ambiguity, and others. Part 3 concludes the book with articles that present empirical evidence and experiences from practices in industrial projects. Its broader perspective gives this book its distinct appeal and makes it of interest to both researchers and practitioners, not only in software engineering but also in other disciplines such as business process engineering and management science.
Book Synopsis Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering by : Leszek Maciaszek
Download or read book Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering written by Leszek Maciaszek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-06 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Software engineering is understood as a broad term linking science, traditional en- neering, art and management and is additionally conditioned by social and external factors (conditioned to the point that brilliant engineering solutions based on strong science, showing artistic creativity and skillfully managed can still fail for reasons beyond the control of the development team). Modern software engineering needs a paradigm shift commensurate with a change of the computing paradigm from: 1. Algorithms to interactions (and from procedural to object-oriented programming) 2. Systems development to systems integration 3.Products to services Traditional software engineering struggles to address this paradigm shift to inter- tions, integration, and services. It offers only incomplete and disconnected methods for building information systems with fragmentary ability to dynamically accom- date change and to grow gracefully. The principal objective of contemporary software engineering should therefore be to try to redefine the entire discipline and offer a complete set of methods, tools and techniques to address challenges ahead that will shape the information systems of the future.
