Book Synopsis Vehicular Platoon System Design by : Hui Zhang
Download or read book Vehicular Platoon System Design written by Hui Zhang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-08-13 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicular Platoon System Design: Fundamentals and Robustness provides a comprehensive introduction to connected and automated vehicular platoon system design. Platoons decrease the distances between cars or trucks using electronic, and possibly mechanical, coupling. This capability allows many cars or trucks to accelerate or brake simultaneously. It also allows for a closer headway between vehicles by eliminating reacting distance needed for human reaction. The book considers the key issues of robustness and cybersecurity, with optimization-based model predictive control schemes applied to control vehicle platoon. In the controller design part, several practical problems, such as constraint handling, optimal control performance, robustness against disturbance, and resilience against cyberattacks are reviewed. In addition, the book provides detailed theoretical analysis of the stability of the platoon under different control schemes. - Provides a comprehensive introduction to the state-of-the-art development of connected and automated vehicular platoon systems - Covers the advanced, robust and stochastic model predictive control algorithm design methods for constraint handling and robustness improvement - Introduces rigorous theoretical stability analysis from the robust tube-based distributedMPC (Model Predictive Control) and stochastic tube-based distributed MPC perspectives - Offers various filter-based inter-vehicle attack detection methods and event-based resilient vehicle platoon control design methods

Download or read book Advanced Controls for Intelligent Buildings written by Siddharth Goyal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-07-04 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses primarily on both technical and business aspects needed to select, design, develop and deploy control application (or product) successfully for multiple components in building systems. Designing and deploying a control application require multiple steps such as sensing, system dynamics modelling, algorithms, and testing. This may involve choosing an appropriate methodology and technique at multiple stages during the development process. Understanding the pros and cons of such techniques, most importantly being aware of practically possible approaches in the entire ecosystem, is critical in choosing the best framework and system application for different parts of building systems. Providing a wide overview of the state-of art in controls and building systems, providing guidance on developing an end-to-end system in relation to business fundamentals (distribution channels, stakeholders, marketing, supply-chain and financial management), the book is ideal for fourth-year control/mechanical/electrical engineering undergraduates, graduate students, and practitioners including business leaders concerned with smart building technology.

Book excerpt: This proceedings book helps bring insights from this array of technical sub-topics together, as advanced robot algorithms draw on the combined expertise of many fields—including control theory, computational geometry and topology, geometrical and physical modeling, reasoning under uncertainty, probabilistic algorithms, game theory, and theoretical computer science. Intelligent robots and autonomous systems depend on algorithms that efficiently realize functionalities ranging from perception to decision making, from motion planning to control. The works collected in this SPAR book represent the state of the art in algorithmic robotics. They originate from papers accepted to the 14th International Workshop on the Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics (WAFR), traditionally a biannual, single-track meeting of leading researchers in the field of robotics. WAFR has always served as a premiere venue for the publication of some of robotics’ most important, fundamental, and lasting algorithmic contributions, ensuring the rapid circulation of new ideas. Though an in-person meeting was planned for June 15–17, 2020, in Oulu, Finland, the event ended up being canceled owing to the infeasibility of international travel during the global COVID-19 crisis.

Book Synopsis Cyber-Security Threats and Response Models in Nuclear Power Plants by : Carol Smidts
Download or read book Cyber-Security Threats and Response Models in Nuclear Power Plants written by Carol Smidts and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-10 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SpringerBrief presents a brief introduction to probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), followed by a discussion of abnormal event detection techniques in industrial control systems (ICS). It also provides an introduction to the use of game theory for the development of cyber-attack response models and a discussion on the experimental testbeds used for ICS cyber security research. The probabilistic risk assessment framework used by the nuclear industry provides a valid framework to understand the impacts of cyber-attacks in the physical world. An introduction to the PRA techniques such as fault trees, and event trees is provided along with a discussion on different levels of PRA and the application of PRA techniques in the context of cybersecurity. A discussion on machine learning based fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) methods and cyber-attack detection methods for industrial control systems are introduced in this book as well. A dynamic Bayesian networks based method that can be used to detect an abnormal event and classify it as either a component fault induced safety event or a cyber-attack is discussed. An introduction to the stochastic game formulation of the attacker-defender interaction in the context of cyber-attacks on industrial control systems to compute optimal response strategies is presented. Besides supporting cyber-attack response, the analysis based on the game model also supports the behavioral study of the defender and the attacker during a cyber-attack, and the results can then be used to analyze the risk to the system caused by a cyber-attack. A brief review of the current state of experimental testbeds used in ICS cybersecurity research and a comparison of the structures of various testbeds and the attack scenarios supported by those testbeds is included. A description of a testbed for nuclear power applications, followed by a discussion on the design of experiments that can be carried out on the testbed and the associated results is covered as well. This SpringerBrief is a useful resource tool for researchers working in the areas of cyber security for industrial control systems, energy systems and cyber physical systems. Advanced-level students that study these topics will also find this SpringerBrief useful as a study guide.
Book Synopsis Fractional Modeling and Controller Design of Robotic Manipulators by : Abhaya Pal Singh
Download or read book Fractional Modeling and Controller Design of Robotic Manipulators written by Abhaya Pal Singh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-15 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book at hand is an appropriate addition to the field of fractional calculus applied to control systems. If an engineer or a researcher wishes to delve into fractional-order systems, then this book has many collections of such systems to work upon, and this book also tells the reader about how one can convert an integer-order system into an appropriate fractional-order one through an efficient and simple algorithm. If the reader further wants to explore the controller design for the fractional-order systems, then for them, this book provides a variety of controller design strategies. The use of fractional-order derivatives and integrals in control theory leads to better results than integer-order approaches and hence provides solid motivation for further development of control theory. Fractional-order models are more useful than the integer-order models when accuracy is of paramount importance. Real-time experimental validation of controller design strategies for the fractional-order plants is available. This book is beneficial to the academic institutes for postgraduate and advanced research-level that need a specific textbook on fractional control and its applications in srobotic manipulators. The book is also a valuable teaching and learning resource for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
