Book Synopsis 2005 Rotisserie Baseball Scouting Report: for 4x4 NL Only Leagues by : Henry Lee
Download or read book 2005 Rotisserie Baseball Scouting Report: for 4x4 NL Only Leagues written by Henry Lee and published by Squeaky Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What differentiates this new series of books from the books and magazines people have used in the past is that each of the six books focuses on a different league - 5x5 mixed, AL-only, NL-only, 4x4 mixed, AL-only, and NL-only. The projections and dollar values for players can vary up to 50% from league to league. Drafting with the help of a magazine not tailored to your league specifications is a recipe for disaster - yet millions of people do so every year. With your Rotisserie Baseball Scouting Report in hand, you can rest assured that your projections are accurate. Each book also has special Quick Lists designed to help you find what you need in the limited time you have between picks. Players are ranked by actual scoring category points so you can compare players intelligently and quickly. Categories like ERA, WHIP, and BA are weighted for IP and AB, vitally important but often overlooked. Also included is a unique quantitative analysis of the best prospects for 2005.

Rather than predicting batting average, for instance, this resource looks at the elements of skill that make up any given batter's ability to distinguish between balls and strikes, his propensity to make contact with the ball, and what happens when he makes contact—reverse engineering those skills back into batting average. The result is an unparalleled forecast of baseball abilities and trends for the upcoming season and beyond.

Book Synopsis Major League Umpires' Performance, 2007-2010 by : Andrew Goldblatt
Download or read book Major League Umpires' Performance, 2007-2010 written by Andrew Goldblatt and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirty years into baseball's sabermetric revolution, relatively little attention has been paid to the impact of a major league umpire's ball-and-strike judgment on game results. This welcome study corrects this omission by profiling more than ninety current umpires, summarizing their professional history, and charting their performance at home plate from 2007 through 2010. Annual and four-season rankings place the umpires according to four categories: runs per nine innings, walks per nine innings, strikeouts per nine innings, and strikeout-to-walk ratio. The statistical analysis reveals that the home plate umpire's influence on a game can be huge, both in terms of runs scored and the distribution of walks and strikeouts. By introducing umpires as individuals and encouraging a rational discussion of their work, this examination depicts umpires as dynamic actors whose impact on the game can be measured, analyzed, and enjoyed.
